QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) the final nail in the neo-con liberal Republican establishment coffin? not really a bad thing in my opinion. and by neo-con liberal Republican you mean actual Republican right? instead of today's GOP which is the bastardization of everything the party used to stand for.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 08:44 AM) Who? Did anyone in this thread start by saying teachers suck and need to shut up? Or did a teacher b**** about their pay first? That's the way this argument always starts. what do you do for a living jenks?

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) i really am starting to dislike Romney. he's starting to remind me of that idiot jon huntsman. yeah, the only republican candidate who had half a brain.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) I haven't read the entire thread, but it shocks me that I haven't seen anyone posit the argument that perhaps teachers' jobs should have more "perks" because they are one of, if not the most important profession for the maintenance of American society. Good educators are the key to social mobility, ie the American Dream. We can't really control if kids are born into ideal situations, but we do have some control over their educational experience -- it should be a huge priority that children should have every opportunity to utilize their public education to move up the socioeconomic ladder if they wish. It starts with teachers. Pay them more, give them more protection if that's what it takes to attract the truly talented people to the profession. I can't even begin to tell you all the people I know who consider their dream job to teach, but they can't fathom taking on all the debt to become college educated (post-graduate experience needed in some states, even MORE debt) and then receive what is often not nearly enough to live a decent lifestyle and make meaningful progress on paying down loans. I realize there are exceptions to this based on where you teach, where you went to school, if you were able to get financial assistance in college, etc. thank you. Marty, your last post is ridiculous. Go try and teach high school and get back to me with how easy it is.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 11:09 PM) So Mitt Romney wants to invade Iran and doesn't care about the environment or the planet? And he openly said this tonight. Why again should this man be the president? Those two things right there are enough to eliminate him from consideration. not to the gay-hating, anti-abortion crowd that doesn't actually understand anything beyond what the talking heads at Fox News tell them.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 09:37 AM) I've been here since it was toddler. Happy Anniversary! and now it's a full-fledged annoying brat of a kid. makes sense.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) I was reading in our local magazine that gays and lesbians make up 1 to 2 percent of the population. That is not a high percentage. This is not a flame ... but where do gays and lesbians find dates/partners?? There ain't many out there. Serious question, not trying to be an ass. also it's actually closer to 10% huh. interesting. all sorts of new articles saying 1-2%, i'd always heard 10. RESEARCH TIME!

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 11:21 AM) You were partially right in our differences, I was wrong in thinking people would wanna buy fitness stuff from a fatty....If I made the money to stick with it maybe things would be different now. But you were right so its all good man. I'm not a coach anymore but if its free of charge to me I'd love to join a challenge group to stay committed.. yeah man, coaching's free, group is free. we're gonna be starting on the 10th, that'll give you some time to really get committed this time. I'm not gonna let you slack! This thing is the workouts AND nutrition. So I'll work with you to get that right. like my team fan page on facebook, then I'll friend you and we can start chatting about specifics and I'll add you to the group. Sound good? www.facebook.com/TeamReddy

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) That never happened...until now, finally made a barter deal for a treadmill.....What should be a good goal for me, miles or calorie wise on the treadmill. I'm up to 295 again (260 a few months ago). Everyday thing? I plan to restart p90x too. i know we've had our differences, but my clients are losing 30, 40, 50 pounds and sticking with it. i have a bunch who are half-way through their second rounds, eating healthier and loving their new selves. I know you're a coach, so i wouldn't make any money off you, but if you wanna join one of my challenge groups to keep yourself motivated, I'd be more than happy to have you. Scott's lost over 40 pounds Josh's lost about the same Get on board man!

QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 07:56 AM) There are two ways to be a homer, Vin Scully's way and Hawk's way. Hawk being so hated means he's doing something right. exactly. if you've lived your life and done your job such that people either love you or hate you, i think you've gone about it the right way. You've done things your way, and you've stood up for what you believed in. I doubt for one second that Hawk will have any regrets when he leaves this game. And that's all any of us can hope for in our respective professions.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 12:42 AM) LOL after watching CNN coverage of an interview with the Romney kids. Wolf Blitzer, with an obvious look of disgust on his face, called Romney "cheap" then told some story of how he shops at Costco. My god. He didn't even try to hide it. The media is so upset they have to go to the Republican convention. They would NEVER rip Obama like that. Never. Hilarious. Also immediately after the interview with the boys, Wolf said, "Say what you want about Romney, he has a great family." He had to add, "say what you want about Romney" Hilarious bias. the media (as a whole) isn't on one side or the other, y'all just like to think it is. You've got Fox on the GOP side and NBC that leans left, and then everything else is scattered somewhere in between. The reality is the media is in the hands of big business, and that's the root of what's f***ing up this country. No unbiased information = uninformed public = bad choices

it's still surreal to me that wise is on our team again. lol

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) I absolutely love reading the melt down post in game threads when its going bad. It's hilarious. How do you people enjoy watching games if you assume its over at the first sign of trouble? like... it's a 2-2 game. they're acting like the O's just hit 4 grand slams off us in one inning.

OH MY GARSH THIS GAME IS SO OVER CUZ WE GIVED UP A RUN WTF I HATE MY LIFE #(*$@)(*&$)#* y'all are hilarious.

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 08:24 PM) In other shocking news: Robin leaves a pitcher out there one batter too long... 1) you were saying? 2) we're 16 games over .500, chill out.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) Folks, Tyler Flowers has proven to me he can play in the big leagues. With limited at bats, he's still managed to pop six home runs and he's good on defense. It's not his fault he's blocked by the great AJP. Sad thing is AJP figures to sign another 2 year deal with the Sox, blocking Tyler further. This is not a rip of AJP. I want AJ to stay. I just want to see if you agree with me ... Tyler Flowers is a big-league catcher. He is not a bust. he hits two home runs. greg declares him a good player. no news here.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) All 9 of the wounded were hit by the NYPD. oh thank god. i was worried we had another psychopath on our hands who thought that shooting someone in a massively busy area was a good idea.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 01:24 AM) The ALCS was unlike anything that will ever happen again. 4 straight CG's, 2/3 an inning pitched by the bullpen over the entire series... its unfathomable now. What a run those guys put together. And I was at Game 2 when AJ stole first base and won us that game. I didn't even realize Joe Crede's GW hit wasn't a home run till later that night. lol

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Some of the people hit today may have been hit by police when they fired back. so?

and now they're becoming so commonplace we don't even mention the shootings anymore.

QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) Alex Gordon was at a similar point at the end of 2010... age wise... production wise. People on fanboards dancing around him with forks. Seeing who could inflict the most damage. too bad alex gordon is bad again.
