QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) Yeah he should have mentioned some of the other homegrown talent on the roster like Sale, Ramirez, Viciedo, Beckham, De Aza, etc De Aza? Really? But yes, otherwise I agree.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 02:05 PM) I'm more inclined to think that stupidity poisons everything and that religion is used, more often than not, as post hoc justification for beliefs and not the source of those beliefs. . you're exactly right. it's the stupid folk who cling on tight to religion, thus it seems that religion makes folks stupid, when really it's the other way around.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 02:21 AM) There is a fitness program banner that keeps popping on Soxtalk, called Athlean or something close to that. Has anyone ever tried that out, what did they think about it and better or worse than p90x? i gotta say, regardless of whether it's a good program, calling it Athlean-X and constantly comparing yourself to P90X makes you seem like a ripoff that's screaming "no I'M better I swear!" like a 5 year old. I mean, If you go to the Athlean-Xtreme page, it's literally identical to the Insanity: The Asylum color scheme and layout. That said, it's entirely possible it's a decent program... but then stand on your own merits and tout what's unique about you.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) I will be sad if Sox fans boo Ozzie. Hopefully the games will be in Miami. Although I could see some rabid fans going to razz Ozzie. Just cheer him, folks, and we'll all be happy. Stay classy. If Ozzie gets booed heavily Chicago will be the laughingstock of the nation. You'd be booing a man who engineered the city's first WS title since what, 1917? It would be the biggest "what?" moment for the nation perhaps in the history of sports. Booing the man who helped us win the rarest of rarities, a WS title. I guess my reasoning could change if Sox win the WS this year, but that's the only way it would not be a total embarrassment to the great city of Chicago. UUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH Cheering him will make YOU happy. Not everyone. YOU.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 08:07 PM) Tell me more about the (non) justifications from the UN supporting the (non) invasion of Iraq that didn't turn out to be knowingly fabricated bulls***. you're asking him to justify ... NOT... going to war... right? just... so I'm clear... ...

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) Where? either chicago or miami.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) Really? *YAWN* Why the nice, pretty almost daily body counts then? It's okay, selective amnesia for your royal highness is obvously your mode. Here, let me link up some bulls***. Oh, that helps me support my bias. Here's some more. Yea, that's the ticket. Uh huh, Iraq, Bush sucks, economy, Bush's fault, some more smoke up some more ass, more bias, more bulls***, yea, more $$$$, yea, uh huh. Bush sucks, sucks, more links, suck, suck, more links on how Bush sucks... more "logic", more "fact", Bush sucks... *YAWN* what the f*** did you just type? can you follow that? if so... jeez... that's a brain i wouldn't want to be in.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 09:20 AM) not remembering a saying =/= not knowing the century you live in. i'm pretty sure the point is there have been plenty of dumb ass candidates on both sides. at least ours is only VP.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 08:14 PM) Well, there's an old saying in Texas, don't know about Tennessee but I know it's in Teas that goes fool me once, shame on, shame on you... ... .... fool you can't get fooled again. FTW

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 05:32 AM) That campaign is classless. But I would expect nothing less. The most thin-skinned President ever. And can someone link to Mitt Romney saying he will allow the banks to re-write regulations in the first 100 days, I missed this one and would like to read about it. please remind me the last time ANY politician ran a "classy" campaign. doesn't exists. get over it.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) Come on dude. You specifically said "Defend that, repubs." That's specifically inciting one side of the spectrum. And if you really were trying to make the distinction that he's on the ticket, as compared to just a run-of-the-mill Congressman, it's not really effective to say "lol did i SAY that." Something like "I never said the dems didn't do it, I was referring specifically to the fact that the GOP decided to put a guy who does this on their ticket" is more effective and less condescending. you're seriously telling ME to be less condescending in a forum full of Alphas, SS2k5s and mr_geniuses?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 07:48 PM) It is. But presenting it as one sided is a joke. On the other hand, I am on record as saying that our elected officials should be held to the same reporting and trading standards as they hold employees of trading companies to when it comes to insider trading in personal accounts. Complete disclosure and monitoring of all trades, self-reporting of insider information, and auditing oversight through an independent agency with the power to level charges against offenders. lol i didn't present it as one sided. the big news these days is paul ryan. it's an article about paul ryan. did i SAY democrats never engage in that type of activity? I think it's entirely fair to hold a VP candidate accountable to something like this - you don't?

http://www.foxbusiness.com/news/2012/08/13...riefing-report/ defend that, repubs. guys a total a-hole.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) Semantics. The alderman said he'd deny the permit, then this thing blew up in his face. It'll be denied, on different grounds, but we all know CFA was effectively banned from opening a store in that spot. hahaha that's NOT semantics at all! nothing has actually BEEN DONE - and the Boston mayor already admitted there's nothing he can do legally to deny a permit! lol
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) They were denied a permit, right? Can't build a store where they wanted to, right? Pretty sure that's the equivalent of being banned. no permit has been denied. y'all are crazy. lol

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:21 AM) 49 at bats. That was konerkos line over 3 seperate seasons. After 49 at bats? .195/.277/.195. Ops .472 http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...b&year=1998 i was just saying your initial argument didn't hold much water... the second one doesn't either as DA pointed out... that said I don't think this whole thing is a big deal.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) Come on, really? 49 at bats? Paul konerko was sitting at .216/.319/.590 after 397 at bats. Let's give him a little more than spot duty before we kick dirt over his grave that's a .900 OPS...

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) Balta, there are details in his budget and he is willing to listen to good suggestions and compromise. Things can change as needed. Perhaps the highest tax bracket stays the same. That's fine with me. The difference is Walker is leading, while Obama only blames and makes excuses. Walker has solutions, Obama merely creates more problems. Osama.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 01:06 PM) Has any active athlete come out as being gay? Has anybody on this site come out as gay? Is it improper of me to ask? Society is still backward on this issue. lol why does it matter? and yes to both questions.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 11, 2012 -> 11:29 AM) Cutting spending needs to be an important part of Romney's platform. Sure the Dems can run ads of Romney pushing granny of a cliff in her wheelchair, but they will do that anyways. hahaha and in what way would those ads be exaggerating? (answer is they wouldn't!)

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Marvin Hamlisch, who has died aged 68, composed the scores for dozens of films, among them The Sting, The Spy Who Loved Me, The Way We Were and Sophie’s Choice, as well as Broadway shows including A Chorus Line; he won three Oscars, four Emmys, a Tony and even a Pulitzer Prize (for the score of A Chorus Line). he was an EGOT-er Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony. Not too shabby.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 11:59 AM) And sadly...look how much has been accomplished in that regard. Absolutely nothing. it starts with discussion. also, the movement shifted to Occupy Our Homes, and THAT has accomplished a helluva lot for people.
