QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 11:03 AM) If you know what your doing, yes, it can be used to supplement...unfortunately, the crowd they're selling this too often doesn't know what they're doing. While YOU may be able to use this as a supplement, because you know how to eat, and know what you're eating...others...not so much. The idea behind meal replacement is for people that would ordinarily just eat whatever, and have no balance to to their intake of calories (what's in them) and this product forces them, for that one meal, to eat properly. You can use a wrench as a hammer, too...doesn't mean you're supposed to. that's why everyone is given access to a coach. whether they take advantage of that or not is their own problem.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) I basically said that, so what exactly did you actually disagree with? haha i missed the little caveat about weaponizing yourself. touche.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) Yeah, I'm not one to do that...I buy all their products when I have access to them for free. I believe in supporting products that I love. P90X has absolutely changed my life, in so many ways. Buying their products legitimately is the least I could do to thank them. I use the Vegan Chocolate Shakeology and I'm legitimately obsessed. I can shoot you a sample if you're interested. PM me if you want.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) I never said they were absolutely equivalent, I said alternatives that are just as healthy can be found here, even if they have different concentrations of vitamins/minerals contained within. While eating a proper diet does have something to do with fighting sickness, it's probably not as much as people would like to believe. Sometimes, not getting sick is luck...but eating properly does not and will not make you immune to viruses, colds, flu's, bacteria, etc...it will simply weaponize your body in fighting them off a bit better...but you can still get sick if you're exposed to the wrong bug at the wrong time. Eastern cultures also have higher rates of other mega diseases we don't have here at all...they're not this immune Utopia you seem to believe. They don't have the same sicknesses we have here, so of course when weighing apples vs oranges, you can get the results you want for this argument. UGH i just so completely and utterly disagree with you with EVERY fiber of my being. Someone who eats mcdonalds every day will get sick more often than someone who eats like i do.

also a bonus is that you can return the bag of shakeology at any time, even if you've used 90% of it. If you're not satisfied, you get all your money back. they believe in this thing that strongly.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) People use it as a supplement, but that's not what it is. It's a meal replacement, their advertising even says so. Good lord man, it is whatever you USE it for. It's used as a meal replacement if you're looking to lose a bunch of weight. If you're not, it can be used to supplement. Do you sell the stuff? You seem to know an awful lot about it!

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:42 AM) This all depends on your current diet. Reddy means well in his pitch here...because he's basically saying (correctly I might add), that doing this can assure you of a better diet in an easier form factor than eating properly on your own. That said, if you already eat well, then using this product in place of your already proper diet won't do much of anything, to be perfectly honest. Though, it would be hard to prove this either way. People lean on this 'eastern' diet myth a lot, simply because of the lack of choices of "bad" foods in that area. If you eat properly here, without those types of obscure fruits/veggies, you'd probably live just as long and be just as healthy with our western healthy alternatives. Just because poor diet choices exist here that don't exist so readily there, doesn't mean you have to eat that way. this, unfortunately, is going to be tough for me to combat because it's all subjective. personally, i believe these kinds of foods DO make a difference, and I'll bring up again my argument about eastern cultures having lower rates of mega-diseases than in America. There IS a difference between the foods found over there and the stuff we have available here. To say that the foods we have access to MUST BE equivalent to the foods over there is a little misinformed. I eat incredibly healthy AND supplement with Shakeology, and I have tons of energy and I don't get sick. Maybe it's the free range chicken - but odds are it's the superfoods that have been proven to be beneficial. http://myshakeology.com/esuite/home/CoachR...etLocaleCode=en

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) It's not wrong unless you take it out of context, which you did. Like anything, you have to control/moderate your intake of anything...drinking 50 shakes a day isn't recommended either...so you probably shouldn't drink 50 naked juices a day. There is a difference between processed and natural sugars... For example, eating a few pieces of fruit a day is better than drinking a few cokes a day. Something you were happy to gloss over just now. There is only something wrong with the sugars in fruit if you overdo it, just like anything else. Shakeology is a meal replacement...I disagree with meal replacement diets in shake form, always have. dude stop making assumptions. you're extrapolating what i'm saying to a ridiculous extent. I also agree with moderation. I use Shakeology as a supplement - NOT a meal replacement.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) My diet basically includes bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, hard-boiled eggs, carrots, raisins, watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe, and mozzarella cheese...with some peanuts thrown in....I eat all this in two salads, one for lunch and one for dinner. I may add some bananas in if I have them. Would I benefit from adding something like shakeology, or am I already getting all of this? yeah you would. Shakeology has ingredients like: Quinoa Flax seed Pomegranate Maca Root Ginko Biloba Goji Berry Luo Han Guo Acai and a ton more essentially what i'm getting at, is it includes ingredients and nutrients that we don't typically GET in a Western diet. but these superfoods are what contribute to the longevity and health among eastern nations where they're prevalent.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) Naked juice is fruit...they add no sugar...so the sugar you get from it is whatever is in the fruit. If these Shakeology shakes have "fruit" in them, but no sugar...they're not real...they're doing something to remove the natural sugars. There is nothing wrong with the sugars in fruit...nothing. this is wrong on a couple counts 1) Shakeology does have sugar, just a lot less than the 60g in a Naked Juice 2) There's plenty wrong with sugars in fruit. Those sugars are IDENTICAL to the sugars in a coke or kool-aid. Fructose is fructose. That's why folks who drink a lot of fruit juice have trouble losing weight even though they THINK they're eating healthy. The reality is, we should be limiting our fruit juice intake as much as our soft drink intake. WHOLE FRUIT at least has fiber as well, but juices are pure sugar.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) Actually Reddy, I am considering giving Shakeology a shot. Sell me a bit on it... What I'm about to say sounds like a sales pitch, and I guess it kind of is, but it's also all from my own experience. 1) Shakeology is the absolute healthiest shake on the market. It's made up of 70+ superfoods that you just can't get in other mass-market health shakes 2) It costs $4/shake, which is comparable to a shake at the gym and the same price as a Naked Juice, which is pure sugar and hardly anything else 3) Benefits include: lowers cholesterol, more energy, clearer skin, improved digestion and detox benefits, improved immune system function. I've been using the stuff for 6 months, and haven't gotten sick once - haven't even felt under the weather. I'm sure it's a combination of things including improving my diet, but Shakeology's played a big part in that. 4) Full day's worth of fruit+veggies in one shake 5) 23 vitamins and minerals including Vitamin K 6) Tastes good.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) Hey Reddy, how about you send me a lifetime supply of Shakeology for free just for being a dedicated Beachbody man... DONE.

hey y'all. just for today you can try out P90X and Shakeology for $15 (just shipping) and not pay anything unless you decide to keep it after 30 days. Nice option if anyone wants to try it out before they commit the cash. Figure most of you guys have already done it, but if there are any lurkers in this thread, I figured I'd post it. here's the link: http://teambeachbody.com/shop/-/shopping/B...ingRepId=142203

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) I usually just smile, say I'm not interested, and wish them a good day. Then they repeat their questions and I repeat myself until they go away. i may or may not be a stereotypical new yorker and say some sort of expletive directed at them. it only pisses me off because they start out like they're asking for directions or something - which i'm always more than willing to give to folks - but then they jump into that God the Mother crap and I'm like OH HELL NO in my best big black woman voice. -
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) So is gender. And so should be sexual orientation. and if you don't agree with that you prove my ORIGINAL POINT ABOUT SOUTHERNERS! see i tied in my own bigotry again. this recent string of posts was getting boring.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) You are mistaken if you think gay marriage is only a religious debate and it is often portrayed that way. Communists don't support it. is america a communist country? what relevance does this have?
-
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) Typical southerners are conservative. I've experienced this first hand. No stereotyping. But, we're not ALL like that. i said that because I was getting flamed for making the same comment about southerners.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) Isn't that what YOU are doing? Marriage, civil union, civil union, marriage... um... as we've established in this very thread... those with civil unions aren't granted the same rights by the GOVERNMENT as those with a marriage. lol that's more than semantics buddy.
-
question. the word "marriage" doesn't have an inherently religious meaning does it? it just means two individual entities being conjoined. so... when are the religious loonies gonna get over the fact that they don't OWN that word? Churches can recognize, or not, any marriage they want - but the government should allow ANY kind of marriage, and that couple - regardless of sex - should receive the benefits it comes with. Right? But oh they just have to keep b****ing about semantics.
-
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) I was born this way. Balta, I think you qualify as a stinkin' carpet bagger. FYI, I'm very liberal as compared to your typical southerner. WTF man? What do you mean by typical southerner? You're stereotyping.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) I think a lot of fat people would argue it's not really by choice. Genes and parents are a big factor there. The extreme 400 lb person? Sure, that's a choice. But the 20-25 lb overweight kid? Eh, that's not pure choice there. true, the parents are probably at fault. but if he's sick of being fat there are things he can do to change it.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:03 PM) They still have to hear about it every day from the good looking kids. again... big difference between being fat (something you can control) and being gay (something you can't). It means kids think there's inherently something WRONG with being themselves. And that's so f***ed up. As for not being as bad as civil rights... maybe not... but ask a gay person their thoughts, and you might understand why it's still a very, very important issue. Treating ANYONE as less than equal is not ok.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) One of probably 4 good friends is gay. I never see any type of discrimination against him. He's also not a stereotype so unless he's with his boyfriend it would be impossible to know. I'm only in my 20's so I don't know any gay couples that would be considered married. I've never known anyone that was fired for being gay or turned away from living somewhere. That's ridiculous if it's truly happening. I am completely on the side of having the government just give all couples equal civil unions and if you want the title of marriage from a church you can go get married in a church. i have dozens of gay friends, and most, if not all, have experienced really hateful instances of being ridiculed or discriminated against. I personally know guys who have been together for over 10 years, but don't get any benefits. I've gotten near to blows with drunk bums on the subway for berating gay couples. It's painful how much gays in this country have to put up with. Why do you think kids are killing themselves at such an alarming rate?
