QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) There you go, making everything about color again. Is there nothing you won't discriminate against?!?!?!
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) I have a friend who is black, I can't be a racist! worst shade of green ever.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) What don't they have right now? If they're considered to be a spouse what are they missing out on? Edit: you added the link. I guess I agree with ss2k5 - the government needs to get out of the marriage business and leave that up to private institutions (the marriage question). Of course you know when that happens they'll be a lawsuit because gay people would be refused the "right" to marry where they want to. Sally Ride's partner of 27 years gets absolutely NO benefits, because they weren't able to get legally married. That's what they're missing out on. And no, I know a lot of southerners who are great people. I actually love country music. And no, it's also not confined to the south - there are gay-haters in every podunk town in America - however, the percentage of folks who discriminate against gays IS much higher in the south than in the north because of religious profiles.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 11:22 PM) Dude...its not just the south. The majority of this country still doesn't support gay-marriage. It was recently voted on in a very liberal state (the one I live in) and it didn't pass. I think its a shame but to say the south should be succeeded. Give me a break man. You are being just as bigoted and stereotypical yourself. dude read the rest of the thread before you post. it's bigoted to hate someone for something they can't control. it's a whole 'nother animal to hate someone for an attitude they hold, that they have every ability to change when it's been proven time and time again (blacks/women) to be the immoral and ignorant position.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Not that Reconstruction and Jim Crow eras were that great, but that would have been pretty s*** for the slaves. what are you suggesting about the South, sir? Be careful with your blanket statements.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:49 PM) That makes you just as bad as the CEO of ChickFilA. What I don't like are people that don't accept others for things they can't change, such as skin, sexual orientation and gender. As for me and my "hypocrisy", I don't accept people who CHOOSE to be bigoted. There's a big difference.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) I live in Memphis and I support gay marriage and much of the town does as well. I'm sure many don't, too. The country is split about 50-50, after all. It's like saying a place that votes Republican has no Democrats. it's 50-50 with a majority of the FOR being in the northern states, while a majority of the AGAINST being in the southern states. That's not really debatable...
-
Fine, let's take a poll, and see if I'm off base: All southerners posting in this thread, do you support gay marriage?
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) What the f*** ever dude. This statement is just as bigoted as anything else that's been said. Check your stereotypes in the mirror. it isn't bigoted if it's true, man. and i'm totally intolerant of gay-hating, gun-toting, ignorant dips***s, i'll admit it.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Seriously though, what the f***ing f*** was that? simple. someone from the southern united states speaking a common opinion held by the ignorant bigots that make up that part of the country. i, for one, wish we had just let the south secede back in the day...
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) It's just duke being edgy! it's duke being what's wrong with this country.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) That is so full of win, it isn't even funny. actually i'd say it IS pretty funny.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) This will go the way of #KONY2012 and all the other fads people love faking outrage over on the internet. Chick-Fil-A keeps on keeping on making tons of money despite a bunch of people (who've never eaten there before) 'boycotting' them, while the free publicity from this thing strengthens brand conciousness and gets more people in there to eat the sandwiches. Honestly, and this may come off a little hostile, but I'd rather live in a world with Chick-Fil-A where gays dont have rights than a world without Chick-Fil-A where gays do. Banning a fast-food restaurant that I enjoy has a much larger negative impact on my life than gays still not having the ability to marry. that's beyond f***ed up. BEYOND f***ed up. honestly, and this may come off a little hostile, but people with attitudes like yours make me absolutely disgusted. I wish I could make a personal attack. I really do. Fortunately in another 15 years all the people who think like you in public office will be gone, and gays will have all the rights that straight people do. What you just said is the equivalent of "I'd rather live in a world with Chick-Fil-A where blacks dont have rights than a world without Chick-Fil-A where blacks do." You don't see anything wrong with that?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) I have absolutely no idea what I could bench...I haven't tried in like 20 years... I really think most people would benefit more from the exercises that build core strength, balance, stability, agility, etc. Unless you are lifting heavy stuff out in the field or something, it just seems like you're asking for an injury to happen (as Jake alluded to). Reddy, for all the Beachbody enthusiasm you have, have you taken a look at P90X2 yet? can't wait to do it, just decided to ride the wave and use the newest program, since i figure it'll give me an edge business-wise as one of the first folks to finish the program. I'll probably tackle X2 afterwards.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) It's going to be impossible to avoid spoilers I see since NBC f***ing sucks. I love twitter too much to avoid it for hours on end each day and don't feel like watching the events live online when I can wait a few hours to watch it in on a TV in HD. yeah i know it's really stupid.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 03:14 PM) Its a great business move. Here we all are talking about Chick-Fil-A nonstop, its on our minds. Even the people who hate them for this stand are going by one and wondering how the f***ing chicken tastes. no they wont. lol.

i love women's volleyball.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) I don't know if there are any good outcomes in a dumbell dead lift why? i do them - what's the diff between using dumbbells and a barbell? just stability?
-
in the squat you're just going straight down, bending only at the knees, so your thighs are parallel to the floor, then straight back up, weights never touch the floor. in the dead lift, you're holding the weights so that your palms are facing you, and the weights start on and return to the floor. also when you come up, squeeze your lats at the top. this way you target your glutes and lats at the same time and make sure your back is staying straight. in this one, your thighs go further than parallel to the floor. that help at all?

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 12:59 AM) For those wondering about the possible legal ramifications, Volokh weighs in. does he? that article just restates what the alderman has said... no ramifications from what i've seen.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) Dude, it was the NAZI party of the US. It wasn't about socialism, it was about jew-hating. honestly just looked at the title of the article. my bad.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) So am I. You can't deny based on any of that stuff. but they would find a way to anyway because the whole country (minus the south) would be outraged as opposed to only 50% of people right now.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) Because they don't deny it based on their speech. They find an alternate reason that is legal to deny a petition for. i'm saying if the situations were identical, but you substitute black for gay.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) This has actually come up before. You cannot deny a group access based on their speech. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Soci...llage_of_Skokie that was 1) 1977 and 2) not about racial stuff, it was political. i understand given the time period, socialism was a big deal, but hate speech isn't protected.
