  1. 9 games over for the first time since 2010.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) With the Sox win, and Indians loss today, the Sox will be alone in first place on the All-Star Break. who saw THAT coming?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) I can't remember all the specifics of the issue but KW wanting Sale to be the closer after looking so comfortable as a starter had to be the most idiotic thing to consider ever. I dont hate Kenny and if the Youk deal is an indication of what he has in store the next 10 years I am excited about that, but he has made some unbelievably bad moves as GM as well. I don't think he's a bad GM. This is the first acquisition he's made that I was happy about in a long time. Perfect trade. Two complete stiffs for Youk. Nice deal by KW. Is it unfair of me to want a deal like that once in a while? give me a list of those unbelievably bad moves, plz.
  4. QUOTE (whitem0nkey @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) why is a guy with a 2.96 ERA in MLB being waived? the WHIP is atrocious.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 01:41 AM) I accept the fact some of you love Kenny unconditionally as I do Ozzie. That's fine. I can deal with that. I just have a different view of KW than most of you. I give him great credit for us winning it in 05 though. He helped me to experience my best moments as a Sox fan. hahaha love Kenny unconditionally? go back and read my posts about him when he wanted Sale in the bullpen. I wanted Kenny fired for that. but just to be clear, you want Kenny to fleece the other GM in every single trade, or else he's a bad GM. is that your stance on this issue?
  6. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) Can anyone tell me which is the only team that HAS NOT been swept yest this season in the AL? wait what? really?
  7. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) Well no s*** the guys make the majors at 20 are usually more talented than the ones who make the bigs at 24. The question was where are your stats to show the prime years of a pitcher are 24-26? i already gave them to you. read the friggin article. lol
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 05:22 PM) He got it right this time. A lot of us KW haters have been dying for a trade like this where the Sox DO NOT GIVE UP our good prospects for a player like Youk and merely ship two stiffs like Lilly and Stewart off the current roster for said player. Is it that difficult? This trade is like trades other teams make and I applaud Kenny for finally making a trade where he doesn't overpay with our good prospects. If Kenny keeps this up, his approval rating will go up and up. did you just ask "is it that difficult" to trade nobodies for a 3-time all-star and completely fleece other GMs who are paid an awful lot of money to know a lot more about baseball than you? you're ridiculous.
  9. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) A lot of pitchers don't even get into the bigs until 23-24 I have a hard time believing those would be the peak years... have any stats to back that up? and those pitchers who dont break in till 24, 25 etc usually aren't as good as those that break in at 20. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=10095 Exit, in this case, meaning either no longer playing or transitioned from starter into reliever.
  10. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) A. The person you just described is better than Humber. B. Danks had 3 seasons of a mid-3s ERA and 1.2 WHIP which is better than Humber has ever been. A. Yeah, probably. If I had to pick I'd put him in the rotation over Humber. I wasn't really intending on turning this into an argument - it was just a "our rotation's really good" flippant kind of comment that y'all have gotten up in arms about. B. when he was 24-26. Peak years for a pitcher. But even in those years his SIERA was much higher than his ERA. Last year it was a bit lower, but it evens out to a 3.80-4.30 ERA with a 1.28-1.35 WHIP. Definitely useful, but not quite what a lot of us hoped Danks would be. That said, he's an awesome 3rd or 4th starter.
  11. Greg... for the record... well, look at the records. Ozzie is NOT doing well in Miami no matter what you might think. All those star players and somehow they can't win... weird.
  12. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) @AdamHogeCBS Yu Darvish is the final AL All-Star. David Freese won the NL vote. duh.
  13. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) Danks >>>> Humber. When he proves he can get his WHIP back under 1.30, then I'll agree with you. Obviously Danks has better stuff, and a better track record, and is paid a lot more, but I dunno. I don't see him ever being a lights out starter. More of a high 3s, low 4s, 1.30 whip kind of guy who can't go late into games.
  14. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) Yeahhhhh, if I'm choosing between Danks and Humber I don't think any coin flipping will be occuring honestly i see their upsides being identical...
  15. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:34 PM) Isn't it odd how people rip our farm system, yet we pull guys like Quintana and De Aza out of our asses? And to a lesser extent, Beckham, Viciedo and Dylan have all been serviceable starters as well. Quintana came from the Yankees system... and De Aza from the Marlins... ........
  16. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) Sox currently have 3 starters with WHIPs below 1. I don't know if they will stay healthy, but that's a real tough rotation to deal with. Flip a coin for which one (Danks or Humber) goes in the rotation when they're back, cuz Quintana's here to stay.
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) and Quintana totes.
  18. honestly, for all you KW haters out there, you've been served. remind me all the talent we had to give up to bring in a difference-maker like Youkilis?
  19. feels good to suddenly - with one friggin move - put yourselves over the top into legitimate contention. Kenny Williams, thank you for Kevin Youkilis.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:14 PM) Best lefty in the al...Q or Sale? lol
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) Next guy got a infield single and that would of scored Danks. yeah Danks was a run had he not gotten picked off. could be huge.
  22. scared of Reed here, but would love to see him shut it down tight.
