Sox @ Cubs 5/20 game thread 1:20 first pitch

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 20, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) Career .220 hitter in April with a .561 OPS. I'd say he's a slow starter. this is my point. drafting him, and then dropping him after april... um... well someone didn't do his research. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 20, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) This year Alexei is not on a top10 pace. lol is he EVER in April? most players have a bad month or two - you just dont notice unless it's the FIRST month. hence all the fantasy league PANIICCCC!!! -

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 20, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) Alexei's not a great fantasy SS though. He's great when he's hot, but he's awful when he's not. his numbers at the end of the year put him in the top 10. that's not drop-worthy. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 20, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) At the time he was way better option than Alexei's April, ended up dropping him for Kyle Seager. i love fantasy managers who drop good players based off 1 month. dude in a soxtalk league dropped Youkilis for Middlebrooks. Whoops. Just dumb. -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 19, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) You must only hang in one burrough then. For anywhere that's not by your apartment, it takes more than 20 minutes to get there unless you live right next to the train stop and the places you go are right off the train stop. As far as Chicago, if you're talking about taking 57, that's true. But Chicago isn't setup like LA at all. Everything is central here. So if you're coming from 181st, you'll never see traffic until you get into the inner city. And once you do, traffic is bad. Worse than LA bad, and that's been proven in studies. And Santa Monica to Hollywood never takes an hour, even in rain, in which no one in LA doesn't know how to drive. Sidenote, did I mention how I hate that no one in Chicago seems to use a signal light for anything, and when you beep at them for not turning it on, they don't understand why you're beeping? And it's not just once a day. I say, 80% of drivers(this is from driving from Naperville, Orland Park, Chicago, up to Roosevelt and everywhere in between) do not use their turn signals unless they are literally getting off the ramp. Manhattan is the only borough in which one SHOULD hang out. I hate hipsters so brooklyn's out, and the rest are terrible. the bolded is just not true, and you shouldn't have a car in NYC anyway.

QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ May 20, 2012 -> 03:48 AM) Upcoming schedule with my personal prediction (Amateur at best): 20 May - @ CUBS Win 22 May - Twins Win 23 May - Twins Win 24 May - Twins Win 25 May - Indians Loss 26 May - Indians Win 27 May - Indians Win 28 May - @ Rays Win 29 May - @ Rays Loss 30 May - @ Rays Win 8-2 mini hot streak with our record being 28-22 and possibly looking at 2nd or 1st. In a perfect world maybe but at least I have optimism that Dunn and Tank plus Paulie will continue to develop a very decent middle of the order. I wish Tank would genuinely learn to take walks and his OBP would be very good. you think we take two of three from the indians AND rays? come on now. lol

per Rotoworld: Stephen Stasburg was bothered by stray Hot Stuff in his groin during Tuesday's loss to the Padres. Hot Stuff is an analgesic ointment like Icy-Hot that is often used as a muscle-loosener. But it can cause quite a bit of pain when applied to ... more sensitive skin. "I can’t really tell you what the problem was, but some Hot Stuff got misplaced," manager Davey Johnson said. "It was on his shoulder and evidently – I don’t know how it got to where it got, but it was uncomfortable, to say the least." Strasburg allowed four runs in four innings. LMAO!

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 15, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) Well that is not good. Ryan f***ing Raburn seriously he was batting .149 with 2 RBI on the season Never easy with this team Why the f*** is Peavy still in this game because he's been fine all season till this very moment. you gotta have faith in your best starter.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) Yes they do. They look 2 times his size. These guys are in hulk shape...I bet they couldn't even reach over and touch their own shoulderblades. haha i just rewatched it. you may be right. lol regardless. my point in posting it was so that Jake would see you CAN do hardcore weight training from a video.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) PEDs. i dunno, those guys in the video don't look much more jacked than Tony. But yes, I'll grant you it's plausible. haha

QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) I promise you that nobody accidentally gets that big. They don't do it just throwing around dumbbells either i'm not sure anyone suggested they did it accidentally. how did they do it if not using dumbbells and barbells, oh wise sage of the weight room?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Those guys are a bit too big...heh. haha man you're just always gonna b**** aren't you?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) Ok, here is my overall "goal". Keep in mind that I was "laid off" from working out for well over a year while healing from a medical condition. So during that time, I put on about 10 lbs of fat. Ideally, I weight about 154lbs or so...right now I'm at about 162. I'm 5'7". My goal is to regain the muscle mass I lost and slowly shed that excess fat, which will happen in time. So in all, I've been back to working out for the last 1.5 months or so. I did miss a week during a trip to Vegas during that time, too. What I try to do, so long as nothing prevents me from doing it, such as family or my kid, is go to the gym on the 3 days I actually go into the office. Since my work has a gym on campus, I use that, it's 5$ a week. So on those 3 days, I weight train. The other two days I work from home, and I have a treadmill in my house, so I run 1.5 to 2 miles on those 2 days, or on one of the weekend days if possible. If I feel extra ambitious, I'll do Plyo or Cardio X, instead of running. Ideally I'd like to do this 2 times, I often find myself only doing it once for one reason or another. Ideally, I'd be working out 5 days a week, but something usually comes up which prevents that, and I end up missing a day at the gym because work is extra busy, or a day at home for various family reasons...so in all, I'd say I average out at 3 or 4 days a week, but lately it's only been 3. I do plan on restarting the cardio portion of my workouts this week...so that will bring me back up to 4 or 5. My current progress: (sorry the image is somewhat fuzzy, but trying to take a pic of yourself in the gym is a douche move, even though I'm trying to document my progress), if I could drop some of that extra body fat, I'd be in great shape again...I wish I had taken a photo similar to this when I first started again, but until Reddy posted his, I hadn't really thought about it, but I guess it's a good idea so you can compare progress. So as you can see, while a workout style like mine won't get you as lean as something like P90X, it can still tone you somewhat...but obviously you wouldn't get results like Reddy posted with bodyfat percentages in the single digits. You look great man! The lean, shredded thing is primarily diet more than anything - but you know that. as for pics, yeah I'm a huge believer in taking before and after pics because you can REALLY chart your progress. when you look in the mirror every day, you don't notice the small changes as they happen so you end up thinking "i don't look any different" even though you actually DO look DRAMATICALLY different.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:03 PM) Speaking of workout advice, does anyone know of any good and easy to perform calf stretching stretches? My left calf is a lot tighter than my right, and it's kind of always been that way, wondering if anyone knew a safe way to stretch that out aside from the usual lean forward against a wall stretch... :/ besides good ole downward dog and alternating pressing down on one calf with the other foot up?

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) Beachbody admits that 3 times a week for an hour a day is enough to keep you in pretty tremendous shape. exactly. it will KEEP you in shape if you're already there, but to GET in shape you need to do more than 3 days a week.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) Found a neat app for ipod/iphone called Zombies, Run! that has helped me enjoy running a little more. You play as a runner for a small compound in a zombie apocalypse. You get missions like "run to the hospital and collect some supplies" or "scout that empty town" via voice-acted clips and the app tracks your movement to complete the mission. Your music playlists play in between the mission/story sound clips. You also collect items as you're running which you use to level up parts of your town, but that part of the app seems very shallow so far. Still, worth checking out https://www.zombiesrungame.com/ that. is. awesome.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 15, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) And I'm not sure the lawmakers will ever be able to stay ahead of the technology to effectively prohibit people from pirating. Honestly, it comes down to making an ethical and moral choice, and I'm not going to judge people for those choices. I just hope it doesn't keep good products from hitting the market. agreed - except on the judging people part.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) ThePirateBay is a good friend of mine, we go way back. Just letting me borrow the discs for a bit, is all! i hate that s***. they really should make pirating illegal/actually prosecute people for doing it/shut down those sites.
