  1. Ok you can have the last word. Nobody cares about this lil pissing contest.
  2. I'm so fascinated by your editorializing. If you had a super power it'd be putting words and arguments in peoples' mouths for them and responding to your own made up argument with impeccable faux outrage.
  3. You've become a caricature of yourself. Ok let me try and make this really simple. A white person's perspective on issues that matter to marginalized people is invalid if it doesn't take into account the perspectives of marginalized people. Get it? There's a distinction, whether or not you care to realize it.
  4. Are you announcing the only type of perspective you respect?
  5. This was my using my privilege to amplify the voices of marginalized people in a place where their perspectives often go unheard post.
  6. There's nothing problematic at all about a white dude calling women and minorities pieces of shit for voicing their opinions on issues that directly affect them and not you...
  7. Notice a trend in terms of the demographic makeups of these tweeters?
  8. I'd do another "Wat." because my reaction is the same, but I fear that'd get a little redundant for the viewers at home. But like... Wat.
  9. Despite the media/generic ballot telling us the Blue Wave isn't real/has collapsed/etc: In KY-06 last night, Dems submitted 100k ballots compared to 80k in 2016. And in GA, The GOP to Dem vote share was up from 65%-35% in 2014 to 55%-45% in 2018.
  10. Because if the way he speaks hurts our mobilization efforts with the BASE of our party, he's a fucking liability as a candidate! How is this hard to grasp?
  11. All I care about is winning. That's why I don't have litmus tests. I don't believe Bernie and his movement can win, and that's playing out across the country as OR candidates lose again and again and again. They got swept tonight. You're preaching to the choir. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said Badger, but this particular thread is a Democrat thread, thus why I talk here about intraparty issues which skew further left. I don't talk like this with moderates and Republicans. That'd be suicide.
  12. I agree. It's always a great thing to see for those of us who want social progress in America. I love when I see my straight white male friends calling out other SWM on their bullshit.
  13. I agree with you, but that's a really hard pill to swallow for people like African Americans who are continually harassed and abused and killed by our police. My friend just had a run-in with police last week where they made up fake reasons to search his car and harass him. He got it on video, it's had tens of thousands of views, that same story. I can't imagine the mental anguish and strain and fear that comes with being black in America. To tell them to just "wait it out" is - again - an incredibly privileged perspective. The problem with talking about these things on this board is that the membership here is 98% white male, so the perspectives are often pretty skewed in that direction and are not indicative of our country - and specifically the Democratic coalition - at all.
  14. First of all, my candidate is a she. Second of all, I don't think any of the things I'm saying in this thread regarding Sanders are good campaign material in a general election. But the things I'm talking about here resonate with the majority of Democratic voters - specifically the base that has a very big problem with the way Bernie talks about minorities, women and LGBT people. For this reason, his potential candidacy is a huge liability. On the ground, personally, what I talk about is healthcare, jobs, the economy, tax reform, education, sometimes gun control, and jobs, jobs, jobs and more jobs. Those are the only things that matter in most parts of the country. What I talk about here and how I campaign are two very different things.
  15. Uh, a white man saying the plights of marginalized groups are less important than the bread and butter issues of "ordinary" Americans (implying latinos, gays and women aren't ordinary Americans) is pretty damn problematic when those people make up the base of the Democratic Party. The fact that YOU don't have a problem with it reeeeeally isn't the point, is it? Is Sanders an intentional white supremacist? Of course not. But he has a serious and perpetual inability to talk about these issues in a way that doesn't marginalize these groups. That's not a way to win their support. He is implicit bias personified.
  16. Headline: White Male Progressive Has No Issue with Casual White Supremacy
  17. This is something they talk about all the time. Along with all the other Better Deal policies you'd most certainly support.
  18. I fucking hate that Schumer supports the embassy's move to Jerusalem. Had anyone mentioned it in here I would've said so.
  19. The rationalization on display here is intentionally disingenuous and exhausting. Bernie Sanders could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose supporters.
  20. Fascinating. So my holding Bernie accountable for the things he's said and the things his supporters say about him being a populist, a man of the people, someone who thinks everyone's voice should be heard without interference from above is hypocrisy, but you having no problem with his democracy-stifling tactics is cool? It's hypocritical of me to call out Bernie's hypocrisy, while it's not hypocritical for you to defend it? Is that about the gist of this argument? Lord. At least now I know you don't actually stand for those principles - you simply stand for the man, no matter what he does, says, or tactics he employs.
