QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) Need Floyd to seal it up tomorrow. I'm tired of seeing the Sox lose series to KC and Cleveland. Sorry to be negative when the Sox are 23-5 the last 28, but Greinke is probably going to beat Hudson. yeah if only we could score runs off Greinke. /green.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) We're on pace for 90 wins now. So play .550 ball the rest of the way and we will get there... 2.5 up on those Twins. that simply blows my mind.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) Yeah because the Marlins want some terrible, mid 30's reliever? Give me a break. They're looking for good, young, cheap talent and that's exactly what Jor. Danks, Retherford, Morel and Marquez are. Danks is a toolsy outfielder who at the very bare minimum is a good national league 4th outfielder thanks to his speed and defense and thanks to his athleticism and pedigree he has some very nice upside. Retherford is a very versatile, grindy ballplayer who reminds me of Craig Counsell and I'm sure the Marlins would love to have that guy back only 15 years younger, well that's what CJ is. Morel is an excellent defensive 3B with a great eye, very good contact numbers and should develop some power, if he reaches his full potential he's a borderline all-star 3B, something the Marlins could use. Jeff Marquez is a left handed starter who could easily work out of the pen as a long man or a good lefty MR. Talented left handed pitching is hard to find and that's what we have here. There's no good reason why they wouldn't do this deal, they can't afford Johnson long term. That's a certainty and they should strike while the iron is hot: he's on a roll right now but that won't last forever, they should get the best package of young talent they can before he reverts back to his normal self. Trust me, they'd bite. you're ridiculous.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Swisher leading, Konerko in 4th. :-( that's cuz we're not getting out the vote this year. kinda disappointed in soxtalk... gotta say.

QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) That's what i've been doing for about two days now. I think i'm probably 40 votes deep. 40 votes in 2 days? AJ would be ashamed.

it's all linked. poor schools=bad education=bad job=eat badly=obese, and these same people lean religious right and red. people with higher education lean blue, live up north, have better jobs, and can afford to live healthier. Of course it's not just coincidence

my brother's elbow did a similar thing at 14. he was already throwing 80 at that age which put waaaay too much stress on his elbow. One day during a game he delivered a pitch, yelled, the pitch went into the dirt, and that was it. The tendons connected to his elbow pulled the bone clear apart. He pitched again in High School, but he was never able to add to his velocity/achieve the level he potentially could have.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) I know what you meant. He's hitting .217/.345/.348/.693 with a .311 wOBA in June. you gotta figure dayan should at least be given a shot to do better. can't really do worse... -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) The Peavy and Rios acquisitions chewed up too many resources to allow this team a chance at being a serious contender. That is squarely on Kenny. yeah and Rios isn't working out well at all.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) If that list of players had played to their ability, we'd be right there with the Twins. Our offense has actually been better than last year's. Our offense is right there with the Tigers's offense as it is and only a little bit behind the Twins. If Quentin and Beckham were playing to their abilities...we'd be in the top 5 in the AL in offense. Those 2 being terrible has pushed us into the bottom half, but we're still better than last year's. The reason we're at the bottom of the Central is that we're hanging with the Orioles for the worst pitching staff in MLB. That is not Mark Kotsay's fault, that is not Omar Vizquel's fault, that is not Andruw Jones's fault. and I don't think it's KW's either.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:32 AM) Which guy out of: Jake Peavy Mark Buehrle Gavin Floyd Bobby Jenks AJ Pierzynski Carlos Quentin or Gordon Beckham Did Ozzie want to get rid of? really? so you're suggesting KW should have had the foresight to dump Gordon, CQ, AJ, Floyd, Buehrle and Peavy KNOWING that they were going to have terrible starts to the season? That's asinine. Jenks I'll give you cuz we all saw it coming. Ozzie, on the otherhand, basically forced KW to get Pierre, Vizquel and Kotsay so he could play his rotating DH game.

Guillen, Williams almost come to blows during shouting match
Reddy replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
ok i said basically this much in the other thread - but with Ozzie getting the ultimate stamp of approval from JR to do whatever the goddamn f*** he wants, how can ANYONE put this season on KW? This isn't the team HE wanted to build. -
Kenny was stuck in the awkward position of wanting to make the team HE thought would compete while Ozzie, with his bestie Jerry's backing, wanted to make the team HE thought would compete. Well Ozzie was dead wrong, but he got what he wanted because KW had no other choice. I blame this season on Ozzie not KW.

this is history. straight up history. we're watching the debut of the best pitcher baseball's ever seen. i don't care if people think i'm just buying into overinflated hype, and yes this is the pirates, but barring injury, MLB watch the f*** out. -
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) I think MB makes sense to the Mets if KW is willing to take Perez and his $12M back he could probably get a pretty good prospect back. Trading PK, Linebrink, Andruw, and Jenks does not make this team any better. Not now, not next year, and not in five years. You have to trade something of value to get something back namely Danks and Thornton. AJP will be a Type A free agent at the end of the season and if you cant get two high quality prospects back you might as well hold on to him, Flowers needs the time in AAA apparently. Does Burls have a NTC? cuz he wouldn't waive it to go to the mets... Buehrle in NYC? not happening.

How bout that John Ely fellow? not too shabby over there in LA.
