QUOTE (Whitesoxin2019 @ Apr 10, 2018 -> 01:53 PM) Naah I don't think That girl in the Gif Knew what was going on. That's demeaning to women. Adam Carolla looks disgusted judging by his body language. Stop Defending Harvey Weinstein Jr. At the very least he needs to get off his moral high horse. Find some other degenerate liberal with less history. Goodness. As a former professional actor, she had to at LEAST sign a release form to appear on TV. She likely also received a paycheck and had to go through rehearsals. You are making things up to fit your false narrative regardless of the fact that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. #MAGA

Yeah. Bennetti is terrible.

Bernie wing Dems, do you see SS2k5 and raBBit both coming to your defense? Why do you think that is? Do they really agree with you on policy, or do they just want to undermine Democratic politics? Because Dam, GoSox, Sqwert, etc - you and these two could not be further apart on policy.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:54 PM) You could be actually doing something on the ground in your community, or trying to enact policies as Sanders believes is right, to enact actual change. Instead you worry about the party and its look. You are the definition of MLK's "White Moderate". Brother, how on earth do you know what I do on a regular basis? Honestly curious. I'm not even close to moderate, and I'm literally on the front lines on a daily basis talking to voters of all colors. This. Is. What. I'm. Doing. For. A. Living. Now. But sure, I could be doing something for my community. Ok.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:35 PM) This is Trump-esque in its stretch for an emotional response over any actual substance. This is the exact type of garbage that has enabled the system we have in place. History of oppression of blacks is an emotional response devoid of substance, says the privileged white guy.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:32 PM) Give me an example. Like if Sanders was president during the Obama years, what foreign policy decision would he have been horrible at? Or you could use a current situation as an example. Can you give me a single example from his time in Congress where he capitulated on a principle and compromised about something? Come on. I'm not going to waste my time building a hypothetical argument that could easily turn into a 10 page research paper. That's an unreasonable ask. We as voters make decisions like this based on the experience we have with the candidates, and I don't have to link you to the dozens and dozens of articles about Bernie's lack of expertise or interest in foreign policy. I'm sure you're aware that it's a weakness for him. Couple that with his immobility on issues once he does take a position and his track record of being impossible to work with in Congress, and that's how I've come to the decision I have regarding his aptitude with foreign policy. I don't think that's unreasonable.

Here's something that'll blow all of your collective minds: I actually agree with the comments Bernie made. I think he chose a really, really poor time to make them, and that's a consistent pattern on his part when dealing with and interacting with people of color.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:08 PM) How dare he support actual policies over pandering to people. What a monster! Ah yes. Why be respectful of the people this country has systemically oppressed since its founding over 250 years ago when you, as an old privileged white guy, are absolutely certain you've got all the answers? Good point. #ReasonsRepubsIdentifyWithBernie

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 02:21 PM) I'd love to know why. I literally just explained why. Because he has no appreciation for context, compromise, tact, or the sensibilities of others. Those are three really important things while engaging in diplomacy with other world leaders who also have egos.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Apr 9, 2018 -> 11:51 AM) For Bernie, that wasn't shooting himself in the foot, that was conveying his core message, that we need to fight for economic equality first and foremost, and racial equality will naturally follow. Many of his policy proposals have that on full display. Abolishment of private prisons, single payer healthcare, tuition free college, and government funded job training and apprenticeship programs are all proposals that rest on a foundation of economic equality but that clearly have easy to see racial equality benefits to them as well. He maybe should avoid telling Democrats the truth about Obama because of the hero worship they have going on for him, but his policy is solid and he's right about economic equality being the priority, regardless of who does or doesn't want to hear it. The fact that he can't appreciate context, and that he doesn't seem to understand that there's a time and place to say certain things and NOT to say certain things, is not going to do him any favors given his reputation with minority voters. It's just stupid, and it's part of the thing we hate about Trump. He can't not put his foot in his mouth, and it happens over and over because he thinks his opinion is more important than anyone else's all the time. Bernie doing foreign policy, for instance, would be f***ing awful.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 02:28 PM) +100000000000000 Neoliberals hate Bernie's economic policy and therefore will do anything to discredit him. Lol I've consistently said that I support Bernie's policies, just not him. But yes, throwing around the term neoliberal incorrectly makes you look very informed.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 01:05 PM) Everyone throws around the line "you need to be more than AGAINST TRUMP" but I haven't seen a campaign yet that actually has done that. Pritzker is probably the worst at it but even he tamped it down as it got closer. This. No one is actually doing this. No one.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:38 PM) It has to be more than just "beating Trump". If you beat Trump, but just get someone in office who doesn't do anything than the person who replaces him or her will will be someone like Trump, but more focused. If you think Trump is as bad as it can get, think about President Tom Cotton. Priorities.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:31 PM) Dude has about 500 fans outside of Baltimore. Right, because like the liberal Trumpster you are, popular = best. I get it man. I get it.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:30 PM) It's not. He does. You just don't pay enough attention to him since you loathe him. Lol I pay attention to everything man. I follow all his accounts on Twitter, where I'm active daily. My job is to pay attention to everything that's happening in politics. He's made gaffe after gaffe after gaffe on social justice issues. You just don't think so because you're emotionally enamored with him.

By the way, none of us is ever going to convince the other. I continue to discuss Bernie to highlight why his candidacy would be terrible for Dems. For instance Sqwert, GoSox, etc and I all probably agree on 99% of issues. We're on the same team. Yet we aren't and we don't really like each other much. That's the problem with a Bernie 2020 candidacy - it'll just continue the infighting and make it worse. For the good of everyone, we should move on from BOTH HRC and Bernie, and Biden frankly. That's the pragmatic and prudent choice if we want to win in 2020. Of course, the Berner's generally aren't much for pragmatism, but hopefully enough Dems will care enough about beating Trump to want a more united front opposing him. And he's done his job - the Dem party has shifted significantly left because of Bernie, so his supporters should be stoked about that.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:22 PM) LMGTFY and in case you're too lazy to look up women's issues Awesome! Why is it so difficult for him to SAY those things in public, to the faces of black Americans who ask him those questions? His staff wrote up a really great policy position, and that's great. Why can't he remember it when asked?

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:11 PM) I'd love to know what the great Martin O'Malley has planned. O'Malley messed up on the Black Lives Matter front when he was running as well. I won't deny that. But he was elected Mayor of Baltimore as a white guy TWICE and he isn't galavanting around the country for photo ops with black civil rights leaders just to bolster his 2020 bid. He's actually been campaigning for every Democrat he can to actually help us win elections. He's been on the ground in something like 30 states thus far campaigning for Dems while Bernie mugs for the camera behind Al Sharpton. Please. Oh, and here's O'Malley's platform for Criminal Justice Reform, followed by his plan to revitalize urban America: https://martinomalley.com/policy/criminal-justice/, https://martinomalley.com/policy/american-c...nd-communities/

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:11 PM) You seriously don't know what Bernie Sanders would do if he got into the White House? You act like he is devoid of ideology, you may not like what Bernie Sanders plan is, but trying to say he doesn't have one is ridiculous. I'd love to know what the great Martin O'Malley has planned. It's weird how you people create magical arguments and put them in the mouths of "centrists" when they never in fact made those arguments to begin with. Of course Bernie is ideological. He has an agenda. Social justice issues for black America are not on his priority list, and he doesn't have policy plans to deal with those issues. Does he? Can you enlighten me?

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:02 PM) What do you think you are saying with this post. It is incredibly condescending. Basically to sum-up: - The monolithic black vote is more comfortable with looser morals, intimidated by education, struggles with weight gain and distrusts jews The southern black political bloc has reasons for backing certain candidates that aren't because they are brainwashed by propoganda. Agreed. Talk about good timing: The Diversity Of Black Political Views - FiveThirtyEight

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 11:59 AM) Lmao. You just used Buzzfeed and Bustle and you are going to criticize Alternet as a source. Buzzfeed is absolutely considered a legitimate source these days. I work on Capitol Hill and it's right up there with politico, the hill, etc these days in its credibility. Bustle is a more fair critique, but it's an op-ed and I labeled it as such, which doesn't mean the facts are indisputable. It's a perspective.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 11:26 AM) Sanders is the one with the racist image. It just blows my mind. Every single time he's faced with responding to or dealing with black activists and/or responding about issues regarding race, he gaffes. He says something stupid. He's earned his reputation. He's absolutely not racist - he just prioritizes his economic policy over social justice because he believes the first will help with the latter. But having a rich old white guy tell black Americans that HE better knows what will help them than they do doesn't always come off so great, does it?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 11:26 AM) And here you are contributing to that schism. The fact that you and the Berners are on the same side here says all that needs to be said.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 11:12 AM) https://www.alternet.org/election-2016/20-e...an-rights-1950s Bernie was the one fighting for their rights the whole time, even when Bill Clinton was making policy he'd later apologize for to minority communities. How about promote that instead of the garbage myth that his supporters are racist just because they're more concerned about taking economic justice back from neoliberals and Republicans? good lord, man. You're 1) using bulls*** blogs as if they're legit sources of information (typical of the Bernie wing) and 2) you're not answering the question. No one has said he hasn't done anything for civil rights, we're asking what does he PLAN TO DO NOW? He has no answer for that. That's the point being made by people of color in the Democratic party when they criticize Bernie on these issues.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 09:22 AM) Except in the end...tearing down fellow like-minded politicians will help how? Remember your talking about The Better Deal last year? Nobody even remembers what was in it anymore...the best you’d get would be something about FDR or LBJ, and that’s if you polled 1000 registered Dems, let alone independents. I agree. Dems are really, really bad at selling a cohesive message, sticking to it, and walking to the same drumbeat. That's the nature of the beast when you're the party of shades of gray. And I attack the Bern as much as I do because I truly believe that all he'll do is tear apart the only party that stands in the way of a far-right GOP and Trump winning re-election. There's no fiber of my being that thinks 1) he'd win or 2) that he'd be effective
