  1. QUOTE (Quin @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 01:02 PM) I've never gotten the holier than thou attitude from him. It's one of the reasons I liked him as a 2020 candidate. Agreed.
  2. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) Good riddance. The guy always had that holier than thou attitude and got taken down to the ground, hard. What a creep. The irony.
  3. Fully expect a shut down, and Democrats should make it happen. They're the minority. GOP holds all the positions of power. If there's no agreement that can be made, it's on them. As President Bartlet said, "Shut it down".
  4. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) He should been ousted weeks ago. Of course he'll stay and fight it most likely proving once again politicians are hypocrites. He's going to resign, as he should, and as he should've at the beginning.
  5. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) Same holds true for people who post memes.
  6. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) Alright Reddy, your trolling knows no bounds. Just stop it man, you sound like a bitter ridiculous hater. Bernie is one of the most liked politicians out there, that is an irrefutable fact. No matter how much you try to discredit him, that will not change. He is working for the people who elected him and some. Bernie is a beast. I have no problem being called a "hater". I pretty much ignore the opinion of anyone who uses that phrase.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) What policies does Martin O'Malley even back? I have nothing really against him, it's just what does he even stand for? All sorts of good stuff. And he's very anti-DNC after last year. He's a great middle ground pick that all sides of the Democratic Party should have no problem with. Martin O'Malley Policy Positions
  8. oh, and Bernie's tours are just to promote himself for 2020, while O'Malley's are actually to help win elections for Dems. So. I'll take that every day of the week.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 10:07 PM) http://www.whio.com/news/bernie-sanders-ca...mtDw5J/amp.html Traveling to Ohio, Kentucky and Pennsylvania this weekend...four total stops. Where is the centrist/moderate wing? I'll take you a Bernie and raise you a Martin O'Malley, who's campaigned in 21 states for local races since election '16.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) He defends the idea of working with Moore in the future and scoffs at the idea of expelling him from the Senate. If that's his stance, he should have zero issue working with franken. Friends, hypocrisy is how politics works. Expecting anyone not to by hypocritical when it comes to getting the things done THEY want done is a useless exercise.
  11. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) You never miss an opportunity to trash on the leader of the next big dem movement. Let it go man, bow down to master Bernie. Can you give an example of what he's done over the last year to "lead" this movement?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 06:36 PM) He was there fighting that fight before it became politically expedient and popular. He almost forced the lot of them to join the Medicare for All bandwagon. It’s hardly leadership for those who follow to parrot the same attacks from districts they would be hard-pressed to lose. The big reason we’re in this mess in the first place is that Hillary had zero political conviction in any of her “tough call” positions and shifted with the winds...just like her husband. The difference is that his political instincts were second to none, with two rare exceptions (losing the governorship in 1980 and the 1994 Republican Revolution after leading with healthcare and gays in the military). In the end, she wasn’t likeable or trustworthy enough to deter enough from experimenting with a Trump presidency. And look where we are now. In a position where, at best, the next two years will be spent undoing 2017 while the Chinese are running circles around us. Bud. I'm not re-litigating any of this. Let's look forward and appreciate all of those who are fighting the good fight at the moment. K? Thanks.
  13. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Bdawg still throwing blows. At least someone is fighting for the little guy. So is every damn Dem in Congress at the moment. Follow Chris Murphy, Ted Lieu, Kamala, etc. Ain't just Mr. Opportunist
  14. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 06:03 PM) How can you vote yes on a bill that's not written? America 2017
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 08:09 PM) Makes me sick. HR departments in this role bother me greatly. Those pix of Franken sicken me. He puts his face right on the woman's face as they actually are cheek to cheek in a few photos I've seen. Geez Franken. He really had a problem taking photos with women, draping his arms on their boobs, allegedly, etc. He probably needs to resign. You can't go putting your hands on people like that. You've never been a public figure who's had to take hundreds if not thousands of photos with people, have you? I'm not defending what he did, but I've put my arms around all sorts of people for photos - men, women, kids, etc. Sometimes you do funny photos where you're carrying someone or they're carrying you, sometimes there are kissy faces, etc. Basically - whatever the person wants to do in the photo, you do, obviously to a point. It's all in the name of fun at the time. It is not strange to have your arms around someone's waist, back, etc, for photo ops like this. Obviously with Franken there are other factors that prove this is a pattern, and not an accident, but the simple act of having arms around a person or being very close in a photo on its own is nowhere near damning.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) I am 100% convinced that what the rush to get all of this stuff done is. Then if something bad happens, they can just blame it all on him. That's exactly the tax bill plan. They've delayed all the bad parts long enough that they can either 1) blame them on Trump or 2) on the next Democratic administration, thus absolving them of responsibility.
  17. They have the votes, but they're on their way to losing their President. Think I'd rather have the President and them not have the tax votes...
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) But your quote is saying this is an example of someone taking offense to something that is due to a misunderstanding. "Take something the wrong way". You are correct that I should not have demeaned your personal experience, but your thread seemed to be that something like this "happens" so it shouldn't be punished. But it should! And maybe we don't know the appropriate punishment for it yet (resignation), but that's only because people didn't feel it was worth talking about. That said I think he should resign. He has the opportunity to defend himself to frivelous claims, but his first defense was that it happened but he didn't think it was that bad. And I hear you. I'm working through and processing all of this myself. My positions, as I do that, may likely be inconsistent, confused, and jumbled. I haven't released a position statement here that I have to stick with. My biggest concern right now is the latter part of that original post you quoted. Men who have made mistakes but are fighting to improve women's lives, healthcare, respect, etc, through policy should be treated differently than those who make mistakes, don't take responsibility, don't apologize, and CONTINUE to push agendas that demean and hurt women and their rights.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) But your quote is saying this is an example of someone taking offense to something that is due to a misunderstanding. "Take something the wrong way". He has the opportunity to defend himself to frivelous claims, but his first defense was that it happened but he didn't think it was that bad. I think everyone should read this prior to deciding whether or not he should retire. WaPo Op-Ed. We should listen to women, IMO. I'm a feminist, and I study rape culture, and I don't want Al Franken to resign.
  20. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) It's NOT ok! That was my damn point. I don't think the actions are ok. The thing that concerns me is the ability for a random person with a twitter account to take down a sitting legislator with 280 characters or less WITHOUT corroboration, witness accounts - you know, reporting and verification. The precedent being set is a dangerous one. With Weinstein, Moore, CK, Trump, etc, we've got CONFIRMED and verified information that has been vetted and substantiated. Both accusers vs. Franken have pretty shady and clearly political connections to the issue and NO witnesses or corroborating facts to the main parts of their stories. There's a difference. There really is.
  21. bmags I think you missed that I called for Franken's resignation initially. But also, while I think it's a problem, let's not pretend that this is solely a thing men - and not women - do.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) Why would that behavior be okay? I get that you may not deem it "worth" pursuing some audience member. But now imagine it was someone you admired and respected you and they treated you like trash? Those people should be thrown out of the venue and banned from the theatre. And you very well should have been given the option to pursue charges. Nothing about their ticket should allow assaulting a performer. It's NOT ok! That was my damn point.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 11:51 AM) What does "as a performer" mean. Like, while you were on stage performing? If you were at work and a coworker was grabbing your ass and kissing you against your will then yes that is wrong. But given your tendencies to welcome any interaction with those you perceive as "in industry", I'm guessing the moral of the story is you loved it. The f*** is this comment? Personal attacks still aren't allowed, kids. It was by audience members both while performing and after while taking photos.
  24. As a performer, I've had my ass grabbed by more women than I can count, and I've even been kissed a couple of times. Thoughts?
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) Another accusation again Franken, this one from 2010. http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/20/politics/al-...2010/index.html Sigh. I gotta be honest - when you've taken tens of THOUSANDS of photos with people, the odds someone doesn't take something the wrong way is nonexistent. I think I'm getting desensitized. And that's not good. For me or this movement. Because I'm finding it hard to care about this one. Probably partially my bias, but also the idea that the average person with a social media account can now come out with a story about a political opponent and completely castrate them or cause them to resign, has me feeling uneasy about this whole thing.
