QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) I have a bigger problem with Trump people continuing to flat out lie than I do with them meeting with someone who has dirt on another candidate. You know Clinton was doing the same s*** trying to find dirt on Trump. As you said, this stuff happens and will happen in the future. You don't think it's a problem that it was clearly STATED that it was part of an ongoing effort by the Russian government to help Trump's candidacy? That doesn't bother you at all?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) This is so naive. This isn't a left or right thing. This is war with the 2nd biggest superpower on the planet. As usual, there isn't getting anything past the rhetoric. I will exit now and let the circle jerk continue. Who's at war with the 2nd biggest superpower on the planet??? Can you name ONE act of Putin's that was not pragmatic? He's not unhinged. He's not a livewire. You can dismiss my point all you want, but you haven't given evidence to support your position. Not one bit.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) No one is more dangerous than Russia. I would have thought that was obvious, but hey, what do I know. Its not like Russia just invaded and conquered a neighbor or anything, right? NK is absolutely more dangerous than Russia. Russia has something to lose, and war with the US or the West is NOT in its best interest. But whatever you need to say to make yourself feel right.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) We keep getting told that we can't do anything about these other countries because of how dangerous they are, and the risk of war and millions of dead people. But when it comes to a country that has actually invaded neighbors, and has the second biggest nuclear arms set in the world, they have no problem antagonizing them for nothing more than political points. The risk here is so huge, infinitely bigger than taking action on NK. They are backing themselves into a corner where the only answer is going to be war with Russia, but the left doesn't care because Trump. Russia needs us. It needs our goods and our money. Because of their isolation, Cuba and NK don't rely on the US, and as such, have much less to lose. That makes them more dangerous. This is basic man. Come on. (ETA: Cuba is not dangerous. Just included it because history.)

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) While I agree with you 100%, why didn't Obama do anything? He had 6+ months. While I'm sure he did at some point, I don't remember him making a public statement condemning the DNC hack. He done f***ed up, thinking Clinton would win. He didn't want to be in the same position Comey was - being seen to be impacting an election, but it was a pretty spineless response. Unfortunately, that's pretty in keeping with his personality in general. It's the same reason we didn't get s*** done from 08-10. He cared too much what people thought of him.

amazing to watch SS2k5 starting to drink the Trump koolaid on Russia. Amazing and sad.

I doubt anything will come of it, but at least we finally have confirmation of Trump-Russia collusion. Back to the issues! #SavetheACA #MonumentsForAll

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 03:39 PM) Let's keep in mind the forum rules while we make divisive gross generalizations in threads designed for like minded people. I'm sure #itsdifferent but cmon man. Seriously? Like, are you for real?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 07:58 PM) I wish Bernie had won. We'd have free healthcare for all. At this point, because of the cruelness of government and govtment officials' refusal to even attempt to serve the people fairly, I'll take the freebies. This healthcare mess is not good. SMFH How exactly would he have gotten a Republican congress to pass "free healthcare for all" greg? Lord.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) I think the "cashing out" label is really hard to beat, so is quitting mid-term. I think it would be hard to beat especially in primary. Trump could make it an easier sell if he spins it well enough. But yeah, you may be right.

Here's a hot take. Chaffetz is going to use this as a platform to be critical of Trump, be seen as super moderate and reasonable, and then he's going to run for Governor of Utah - which is quickly turning purple.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) Not it's not. There is not a single thing that are lies. Every single one of them is from personal experience. I know they aren't lies because they are what I've seen in the clinic. Now as someone else just posted maybe the majority are currently stable but based on what we've seen I don't think you or anyone else could say that they wouldn't go the same way. You again are showing your complete and utter bias with painting everything with a broad brush. I said insurance companies were dropping ACA and some were closing. Those are not lies they are facts. Maybe the majority are doing well but what I said is still true. That's not what I was referring to. To suggest that the ACA was "ramrodded" through congress is a complete and utter falsehood.

it's so weird how ptac is usually a good poster, but this stuff with the ACA is complete, fabricated lies.

StrangeSox stop with the divisive rhetoric

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) The race means nothing. it isn't a referendum on Trump or Democrats. The people down there are probably sick to death of seeing all the ads and campaigning, especially from people outside the district (like pajama boy himself!) and state. I would guess turnout will be low as people will have tuned out and just want it over, but we'll see. i find it funny the writer is now complaining about "On the other hand, though, this notion that the biggest threat to the voters of the 6th District are their fellow Americans helps to explain a lot of what is wrong with this country at the moment" At this moment? That is what Democrats have been preaching for the last 9 years. Guess it is only a problem when it is used against them. Seriously, how is he allowed to run without living in the district? perhaps you can explain this whole pajama boy thing to me. Also turnout was up 50K votes over the last midterm. That's huge. So. Whoops.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 01:09 AM) http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2017/06...er-wall-sot.cnn Or building a solar-powered border wall...who knew it could actually pay for itself? Vertical solar panels are about as useful as a bottomless cup.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) This is the reason that nothing can get done in the government. Its if you are on the other side you are the worst thing possible and the cause of all the problems. There can be no compromise and no deals because the other side is so wrong that we can even meet. Look at how messed up Illinos is from this attitude. There is too much polarization in politics today. Too much animosity. Seriously? You're talking about tone while Republicans are literally killing people for personal profit. Ok. SMH at those in the healthcare industry (yes, including you)

Bernie Sanders/wife under FBI investigation for bank fraud

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 09:39 PM) I don't get why you seem to be excited about this, Reddy. Bernie being charged with a crime isn't going to make his fans or leftists in general embrace centrist Democrats all of a sudden. Eh, I just really hate Bernie and the obsession people have with him. I've been through this with John Edwards. It sucks, but they'll be better for it when they realize he's just a politician like everyone else. For the record, I'm not asking anyone to embrace centrism. I'm not a centrist, politically speaking. I'm a pragmatist. I support many "far left" policies, but think we should prioritize winning above all else, meaning we run moderates where they can win and progressives where they can win. -

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) One problem I've felt we have as a nation is politics has become sport. Love your team and all they do, and hate the "enemy" and hate all they do. Rodman as a Piston? Evil! Rodman as a Bull? Yes! I also believe that we all have a common vision of what makes America great. We want people to be safe, happy, healthy, with opportunities. We want our kids educated. We tend to argue which path is the correct path to that goal. The most obvious is large scale solutions that Dems tend to support and the small scale solutions that Reps tend to support. (Government versus Private scale). Like the health debate, it stops becoming what is best for Americans, it becomes our team needs to win. With the President we want the guy to fail if we didn't vote for him. Which leads to my question. How can we become more bipartisan as a country? How can we deescalate the us versus them and start demanding that both parties address our concerns? How can Democrats support Trump without sacrificing their ideals and values? I believe the first step is the world should follow the "buster guidelines, no personal attacks. We should be debating ideas not personalities. A second step is for supporters of both parties to stop accepting and forgiving bad behavior from their party. SS2k5 criticizing a Dem doesn't mean much, he probably wasn't going to vote for the Dem anyway, me criticizing would carry a bit more weight, the representative could lose a vote. Now multiply that by thousands and we may have something. literally gerrymandering. that's it. that's the cause. almost every district these days is a "safe" district where the incumbent in the popular party will win with 60-70% of the vote. that creates a massively partisan culture in congress and creates a massively partisan culture in the districts among the people.
