  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 12:16 AM) If he's in violation of the constitution then impeach him. I am not beholden to Trump. I just can't believe you guys won't take responsibility for choosing a candidate that can't even beat Donald Trump. Many on this site blast Trump over and over but act like this is some conspiracy. The Democrats chose a candidate who had no chance of winning cause she is DESPISED nationally even more than Trump. She got the most votes of any candidate in the history of the United States, but yes, ok.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 01:02 AM) GET BEHIND TRUMP until he commits an impeachable offense folks. Let's all prosper! We are Americans! He has already committed several. Refusal to divest from his companies as a start. Greg, what do you stand to lose from a Trump Presidency?
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) You never said those words, but those are the exact words you alluded too. "Isn't straight white male privilege awesome" were almost your exact words, in response to me saying I'm enjoying my life. It's not a jump to take that as you saying, "Well of course your life is awesome, you're white". It's what you meant...and you know it. No. What I meant was that it's easy right now, in this moment in history, to sit back and play video games and feel good about your life when you're a straight white male. If you were ANYTHING but that, you'd have a lot more fear, a lot more unease, and a lot more concern about what's coming. Isn't straight white male privilege awesome?
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) Exactly this. His original words were "of course you're enjoying life, you're a white male". you go ahead and quote where I said that.
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) No, I think it's an ignorant thing to say that just because a person is white it's easy for them to "sit back and enjoy life", which is what he's saying VERBATIM. Being white doesn't mean you're successful, or rich...or without struggle. There are more white people on welfare than any other race...I'd love to see Reddy tell them how "easy" their lives are...I mean, they're white...so s*** must be easy! The problem with his entire statement is the same bulls*** ignorance used against Black Lives Matter. Just because they're saying Black Lives Matter doesn't mean they're saying other lives don't...I'm not saying others don't struggle...or have it hard. What I am saying is that just because I'm white doesn't mean s*** just came easy to me. It's simplistic bulls*** is what it is. you're literally, 100% ignoring my words. Being white puts you ahead of the pack inherently. What you do with that advantage is up to you, but that doesn't mean you don't have the advantage.
  6. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 16, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) That's the problem with this, and why it's simplistic jibberish. No, it's not. Compared to a woman, a gay person or a minority, it IS. Come on. Wake up.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 06:18 PM) Who gets credit for starting this white privilege issue nationally? Who is the one person who first brought it up? Somebody should ask the liberal white Hollywood people if they are willing to admit their white privilege. I wonder how many would cave and smile at the interrigator and say, "Well of course I do. Thanks for asking. Of course I admit my white privilege, every day of my life." I actually bet many of them would, just like I do - as someone in the entertainment business who knows a lot of people in the entertainment business.
  8. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Nothing here I wouldn't agree with. But Reddy is basically saying of course I love life...I'm white. And I think that's patently absurd and simplistic. That's literally not what I said. I said you had a leg up, and that in Trump's America you will continue to have a leg up, and as such, it's easy for you to sit back and "enjoy life".
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 14, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) Uh, if it were that simple, sure. I hate when people say s*** like this because it undermines everything I've accomplished, and frankly, it's bandied about way too often for my liking these days. I know plenty of straight white males that are dismal failures because their white privilege didn't help them accomplish much in life. While I'm positive it didn't hurt to be a white male, it didn't get me a degree, or a career, or a good marriage...it also didn't stop me from getting arrested and thrown in jail for graffiti vandalism when I was but a young buck, either. Edit: Point is, I know plenty of straight white MISERABLE people. I'm not loving life simply because of that as you are alluding too. It IS that simple. Just because some people with straight white privilege failed doesn't mean they didn't have straight white privilege. It just means they sucked at life. Come on, you're a smart guy. Straight white males are running the same marathon as everyone else, their starting line just happens to be about a mile or two into the race already. EDIT: btw, I'm fully aware of my privilege as well. That wasn't meant as a jab at you specifically. But privilege got us both where we are. We weren't born black on the South Side. That gave us a leg up out of the gate.
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 10:31 PM) Honestly, despite being a sports forum, those things rank pretty low in my life as to why I'm loving life. It's not perfect by any stretch, but me complaining is just bulls***, because there are billions in this world with actual complaints. I play video games, watch wrestling, etc...s*** could be worse. straight white male privilege is awesome, isn't it?
  11. For gosh sakes, greg. For gosh sakes. *retreats back to the shadows, aka Santiago, Chile on a Friday night, which is so much better than being in America right now*
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 10:59 PM) It wasn't a broken heart, it was because she was 84 years old. uh. can't it be both?
  13. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 10:47 AM) yeah, been gone for a while, but if I would have remembered, would have had to make it half green. You know there are people out there trying to find a way... Haven't seen one. Not one. Have you?
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 20, 2016 -> 02:03 AM) This crazed guy only wanted to kill one person. Insane. Did they catch the shooter? If so his life is over. Just.... just use google like the rest of us.
  15. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/12/19/ru...-in-ankara.html "The gunman could be heard shouting in Turkish "Don't forget about Aleppo, don't forget about Syria," the BBC reported, citing a translation of video of the incident. Russian officials told Turkish newspaper Hurriyet that the perpetrator was believed to be an Islamic radical. The gunman could also be heard yelling "Allahu Akbar." Russia is assisting the Syrian government in its campaign against rebel forces in that country." Can't wait for this to be trump's fault. Why would anyone blame Trump? Putin's fault? Absolutely.
  16. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) I could easily tell he was CGI the first time he appeared. He was still impressive though. The other CGI character was ROUGH though. It really wasn't that bad. lol
  17. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 11:48 PM) I though it was good, not great. Liked it better than Episodes 1-3, but I would put it after 4-7. I liked The Force Awakens much better. Partly because it was a fun adventure movie, but also because I had no idea how TFA would end or where it would go. In this movie, we already knew that they would successfully get the plans, and So a lot of the movie I was just waiting for the dots to connect. The action scenes were dope though, and good moral conflict with Gaelin (sp?). Thought the CGI was pretty lame, although as far as CGI goes, they were both REALLY good, especially Tarkan. Was hoping they would have just done a "from behind" shot of Leia, or a different actress from a distance. A couple of plot hole questions.... Big ole who cares from me But for #1, But really... who cares? The CGI was fine y'all. And if that's the type of thing we're criticizing, must have been a f***ing great film.
  18. Personally, I think this was on par with, if not better than, Empire. The way the climax unfolded and the stakes kept getting raised higher and higher and higher was legitimately like a roller coaster ride. I couldn't sit still. And the ending was absolute perfection. Cannot wait to see it about 47 more times.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 12:33 AM) Mentioned it here when they broke out the water cannons in freezing temperatures and blew that one woman's arm off. Isn't it crazy that there's so much ridiculous going on in our country and world right now that we collectively don't even mind/notice/bother to discuss massive human rights abuses and violations happening on our own soil to our own citizens? What is this world we live in?
  20. Is there really no Standing Rock/DAPL thread? Is it being talked about anywhere? I know it's "over" but thought I'd check. I'm in Bismarck tonight heading to the camps for the next couple days to help run supplies. It's really insane out here right now.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) ive gotten the feeling in the past that Trump is ok with gay marriage so I would kind of be shocked if that was over turned. It has entirely to do with his Supreme Court picks, not Trump's personal ideals.
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Yep. Looking forward to the next response It's simply this: It's easy for you to say it'll all be ok, when the major policies that are likely to be enacted won't affect you the way they'll affect minorities, women and gays. You saying it'll all be ok is you speaking from a place of white male privilege. The fear people have who don't look the way you do is very real, and it's very well-founded.
  23. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:49 AM) Most of you are from Illinois so I kind of expected this type of response but damn. Everything will be fine, country will be fine. I highly doubt anything earth shattering is going to happen in the next 4 years. Trump is going to say he is going to do whatever he wants but just because he said it doesn't mean it is going to happen. No matter what he or any other President does there will a minority of the population that it affects greatly. There is no way around that. Are you white?
  24. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) You act like there was some sudden shift. It's the same country. DEMOCRATS lost the election. A new wave of White Power Americans didn't win it. No, you're right. That wave of white power has always been there - Trump just took the lid off the bottle.
  25. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) I know a lot of long suffering Cub fans, and I am genuinely happy for them. Like many other Sox fans, I don't hate the Cubs. I only root against them 4 or 6 days a year. I guess I'm happy for them too. Take that Cub-loving crap to a different message board you Harry Caray worshipping Sox-hater
