QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 11, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) Reddy's civil cynicism has really overshadowed how great *I* am at voting. Civil cynicism? I've been more involved in the political process than 99% of this country. I've worked on multiple presidential campaigns, even traveling across the country to do so. I'm vehemently passionate about politics. If I lived somewhere besides Manhattan, I'd absolutely agree with Y2HH, but where I live, it doesn't matter HOW corrupt Charlie Rangel is - he won't lose another election till he dies. That's just the reality in NYC. I also still do vote, by the way, I just recognize that it makes very little difference here.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) I don't like the "well the Republicans have the stones to do something like this!" argument. That's why I don't like the Republicans. I don't want the party that most closely aligns with my interests to get caught up in that bulls***. Then nobody would be trying to do things that approximate reasonableness. I don't know if you've noticed, but an overabundance of "reasonableness" has lost us congress by a significant margine.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) Throughout history, there are times both sides make sense, there are times neither side makes sense, and there are times only one side makes sense, but there are no times where one side always makes sense. And this is my problem with people. They're sheep, with a D or an R next to their name, and what's worse is they convince themselves this only applies to the other party. People talk about one party needing to grow some balls, but IMO, it's a lot of you voters that need to grow some balls and start thinking for yourselves, instead of thinking like a letter. Tell me how my vote makes any difference living in NYC?

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) Too young, that is horrible. RIP That's really sad. He was hilarious. Sigh... don't get fat y'all. It always ends badly.

Oh, and that petition... has 75,000 names on it now since last we spoke. I guess people care.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) now this is what i and many other are talking about...... how can no-one get excited. 2015 is the yr. It's not THE year, it's a year. A promising one, but we're not the Nationals.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) No, this is the exact congress the voters wanted. In NO world is this true. It's the congress that paid to be there. You don't think money talks?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) That act, while it would probably be enforceable for normal folks, would never stand up to a court challenge if applied to Congress. The Constitution gives the Senate explicit right to "Advise and Consent" on foreign policy. The only way that the Supreme Court would rule so narrowly that the definition of Advise and Consent means they can't have any unauthorized contact with foreign leaders is if Democrats did something like this and Scalia et al got to play off their "original intent/exact meaning" setup, which they wouldn't do here because it's a bunch of Republicans. that's exactly, EXACTLY my point. The Republicans would have a f***ing field day with this, but Democrats are so f***ing pathetic that they're unwilling to play the same game - the game that's been WORKING at the Congressional and State levels for years. This "above the fray" bulls*** has backfired so tremendously. You don't need for the SC to rule against the GOP, just make it a huge issue that hangs over their party. Because if you don't, in a few years Cotton's going to be running for President off this hype. But shrugging it off as just one more step in a line of ridiculous acts by the GOP is exactly what allows them to keep pushing the envelope further and further and further. At some point we have to say enough is e-f***ing-nough, right?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) "childish antics" do not rise to the level of a crime oftentimes. Being childish back doesn't seem like an obvious solution. I will probably at least send my first communication to Toomey later. how is it childish to hold people accountable for their actions?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) I'm not going to sign that. then don't. but then enjoy this kind of childish antics for the rest of f***ing ever. it has to stop, and it won't stop until WE stop it. Dems need to grow a pair - frankly, anyone who thinks all of this is bs needs to grow a pair and say something. The shrugging it off has to stop.

Petition to File Charges Against the 47 Senators... Sign it, y'all. 16,000 sigs overnight. It's about damn time the American people actually stood for something again. I only wish the Dems had the balls to do what was necessary.

No More Hard Tickets for Season Ticket Holders
Reddy replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm all about electronic boarding passes, etc, but man, having hard tickets from big games is the best. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 8, 2015 -> 11:36 AM) i will go even further and say, he is going to say otherwise, or so he can start his time so he can become a free agent sooner. Who cares? It's not his choice.

QUOTE (asindc @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 11:28 AM) I completely disagree. DV has never demonstrated that he has a clue. in pure numbers and skill sets, they're very similar.
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) You got me pegged Honestly, I really really hope I have to admit I'm wrong. I hope he defies all logic and precedent and just has so much talent that he becomes amazing despite having no idea how to play baseball. I'll gladly grow old telling young fans about how insane it was to watch Avisail Garcia succeed. EDIT: Now, what WILL ruin my season is if Dayan Viciedo breaks out for Toronto. F that. You have summed up my feelings of Avi exactly. He and DV are basically the same player.

QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 26, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) i understand the concept but going into a closet type and start sending msg back in time.... well let me say, there is no bases of well this can happen or not. fvvck i am an old fart and me ben franklin had a hell of time drinking and chasing skirts. my problem i didn't know what to do when i caught 1. i was too young.

QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 26, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) it was a very good movie... but the ending. it was like they realize it was a long movie and have it come to an end. i love the idea of the story line of continue growth of the children as he leaves. damn, that was a hard choice. some of matthew mcconaughey best acting. I loved the ending, and it's all completely realistic in a world where our theories about space and time are actually true. If you're outside of time and space, you can access any time and any where at any moment.

Finally saw Interstellar and it blew my s*** away. Loved it.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 26, 2015 -> 06:16 AM) What's Scientology's take on gays? Because I don't think Hollywood cares anymore. Honestly not sure about Scientology, but LDF is right on the money.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) That guy is uber creepy. He practically raped Scarlett on the red carpet. Yeah it's because he still needs to come off as "straight" and his agents probably suggest he does those things. For being so full of liberals, Hollywood is waaaay behind the times when it comes to being openly gay.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Feb 21, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) I don't understand. Are you attributing the 9-win decrease completely to the bullpen? That's way off. Nope - yeah I see how it came off that way. The bullpen was just my example, but yes the rotation regressed hard, too. But that's my point. Our team - on paper - shouldn't have been so good in '05, but we miraculously got career years out of almost every pitcher! We would need something similar (maybe not as drastic, but similar) this year to not end up in the low to mid 80s, and to reach the levels a lot of folks seem to be expecting.
