Sox acquire Adam Eaton from ARZ, deal Santiago, Jacobs

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 06:12 PM) It's more like Jake Peavy, Alex Rios, Matt Thorton and Hector Santiago for Leury Garcia, Avisail Garcia, and Adam Eaton. I'm actually surprised this board is cool with that. Usually this board loves to preach the failure rate of prospects yet we traded 4 established MLBers (only one who needed to go) for 3 prospects, 2 of them very key to our future. I'd figure everyone here would prefer decent packages. If one of Garcia or Eaton fails we will be in big big trouble and odds are that probably happens unfortunately. And we'd succeed with Peavy, Rios, Thornton and Hector? It's a low risk high reward thing we're doing here. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) You are really bitter about this deal. Hahn has gotten good to great value in all of his trades so far. Hahn has been doing some damn fine work if you ask me. Really nice change of pace from KW.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 05:52 PM) De Aza and Flowers for Murphy? every day of the week and twice on sunday. Murphy HITS. He's one of the most underrated players in the league IMO

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 06:59 PM) At my current rate, I'll reach 25,000 posts by the time I'm 60 years old. I'm 25 right now... I dont think I ever actually watched the video in your signature. And now I just watched it like 8 times in a row. Still blows my mind. So awesome. What game was that?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) I honestly don't know how some of you guys keep up the pace. I started out strong, but then faded huge in the stretch. Probably took me 5 years to get those last few thousand posts, I just hung around long enough to piece it together slowly. I'm like the Fred McGriff or Craig Biggio of posting. Balta and SS2K5 are like Rose and Ripken. I'm the Ryan Theriot

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 04:36 PM) Women be crazy. Those women are the ones that will be crying on their couch ballooning themselves up with Ben and Jerry sobbing about being lonely. This is a generalization but from my experience it seems women really want to have their cake and eat it. i love cake

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/...tics/?hpt=hp_t3 GOP like Duke have been flaming Newt and Ted Cruz for their positive tributes to Mandela. Well Newt has responded to said critics: Well said, Newt. (first time I've ever said that)

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 06:40 PM) As Duke has taught us. Nothing wrong with the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor. They wanted the land and tried to take it. The only difference between European settlers and the Japanese is the white people won. fixed

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) It was a war. The natives knew what war was. It took them a minute but they even grasped the consequences of losing that particular war. Then they lost. Losing sucks, but for there to be a winner... Its been called a genocide but I disagree with that. It wasnt a systemic, targeted elimination. The point wasnt to kill Natives but to get their land. And how, pray tell, did they GET that land? What was the gameplan to acquire said land?
-
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) You rationalize genocide by saying the victims were also kind of bad people? Marvelous. Mandela fought for equality. Europeans fought for exploitation. Their motives were slightly different. agreed. wtf balta? I mean yes, I think Tex went a bit too far, but we f***ing invaded them and killed them all! How ... I just dont understand how you can put ANY fault on the Native Americans! Haha it's a JOKE to do so.
-
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 11:34 AM) "Native Americans was a war of conquest that they lost. Back then wars for land happened, if they wanted it so bad they should have fought harder for it." It just shows a complete and utter ignorance of history. Something like 50% of Native Americans were wiped out right before the Europeans got here by their version of the plague. Had that plague not happened, we wouldn't be here right now. It has nothing to do with them not "fighting hard enough". Sweet jesus.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) I have always liked AJ, this just makes me like him more. Same. He was one of my favorite players and he's among my all time favorite Sox

I think we've finally found a topic in which everyone on this board disagrees with Duke.

Duke: Because Mandela didn't create a model utopia in South Africa 20 years after peacefully bringing down an oppressive regime, he is undeserving of the praise and adoration he's receiving as one of the greatest and most influential powers for good of our time. Does that about sum it all up?
