  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 4, 2017 -> 07:27 PM) Let's face it, the little guy is going to go broke paying for medical costs during retirement. Our country is in deep trouble without free health care for all. The insurance companies are going to pay so little of each major surgery it'll make your head spin. Good luck to all the people out of work getting treated and good luck to those who do have jobs cause their insurance companies will fight SO many charges. Agree? We needed Bernie who woulda given us all this stuff for free. Greg, Nothing is free. The healthcare would have had to be paid by tax increases. Republicans don't want higher taxes, they think people like you should just figure it out. People freaked out about Obamacare over $500 penalty. What do you think would happen if taxes go up more? But don't worry I'm sure the 1% radio hosts you listen to will tell you Trump is da man and how great this is for you. Just don't look behind the curtain and see that they are all about self interest and making more money off of hard working people like you. Tough break man, I really think beneath it all you want what's best for most people, unfortunately you've chosen to listen to snake oil salesman. But it's not too.late, call your senator, call your friends to call your senator, because you and them are going to be footing the bill for 1%ers unless you make a change.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) My dentist DID go to U of I. Maybe thats why my gums hurt so bad. If you need a new dentist mine went to Northwestern... (edit) I dont believe he is "in network" for any insurance though. Last time I was there I was joking around because my office switched from Metlife to Delta Dental, and I kept saying that it sounded like a second rate insurance company. He claimed that Delta Dental is fine, but I still have my suspicions. I guess at the end of the day its more his problem then mine, because hes gotta get those insurance codes right.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2017 -> 04:09 PM) Literally every other civilized country has proven its a successful model. The USA has only proven that privatized for profit healthcare is a failure. But I only want to go to doctors who went to Northwestern or better. If the govt is in control of my healthcare maybe I wont have that choice!
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 4, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) When Obamacare went into the effect the company I worked for just stopped scheduling people 30 hours a week. There's a lot of valuable experience in seeing the actual system you read about in your everyday life. This would be funny if it wasn't already a failure. The valuable experience would have been making some law that allowed people to get insurance from a larger pool through a website. Or They could have made a law that said that if employers are going to provide healthcare to anyone in their company, they have to offer it to everyone regardless of hours worked. I dont think I need to explain the irony of the first statement or why the second statement never would pass.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 4, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) I am well aware of that. I was responding to the idea that millions are going to drop dead and hospitals are going to turn them away as they have their last breaths because the government isn't providing an optional service to everyone. This is a spectrum issue. My mom was as ICU/ER nurse for twenty years on the South Side of Chicago. If someone is dying or overdosing the nurses deal with the individual. They don't let them die because they don't have insurance or they're homeless or they're a criminal or anything. They do their job and let the hospital deals with the rest later. I doubt the Senate passes this bill, but if they do, what you said is the exact reason why premiums/deductibles will increase for most people. Thankfully I wont have to worry about the Cadillac tax anymore.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) I don't understand. I thought you buy insurance or get it through your employer so in the case something went wrong you're covered. My cousins condo burnt down. I wonder if he can get home insurance now that it's rubble. Absolutely can get insurance. It wont cover what already happened. The difference is that with health you are talking about things you were born with, so that person never had the opportunity to purchase insurance prior to the "pre-existing" event. Or as the current bill stands, I believe "rape" is a pre-existing condition too.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Northwestern Hospital chased me down for 25 bucks I shorted them a few years ago. They were relentless. I guess I should have written a letter. Again, you have money. You care about things like your credit score, etc. That being said, always right a letter. Its ridiculous the amount of things Ive gotten reduced/wiped out just because I do some good old fashioned phone yelling.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) So you're telling me that millions of people who wont have coverage can just write a letter to the hospital and they will forgive all debts? s*** why do we even HAVE insurance? Haha cause youre a sucker and not poor enough. Insurance is worthless for the really poor. If youre wealthy, you likely have good insurance. The people who are going to get decimated are the lower middle class.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Ouch. Hey Rock, are you gonna let him talk s*** about Miami like that? I was going to say something about "no offense Rock", but I more meant Weinermobile driver doesnt push the needle.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is one of those who does not comprehend how insurance works. Not sure that says much, Paul Ryan doesnt have the qualifications to be my secretary.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) They will stabilize life-threatening cases. They don't treat chronic illnesses that need routine care and medication. If this bill passes the Senate, it will directly lead to the deaths of thousands of Americans from otherwise treatable illnesses. That too. I really dont want to get into this argument, but the "people will die" argument is a losing argument so perhaps people need to reframe the argument. Because right now, most people are going to end up paying more money for less healthcare. Only the top insurance plans will likely see decreases.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) It will bankrupt them for sure. Yeah, but most of those debts cant be collected. Which will result in higher prices for everyone else's insurance. The real problem is that most people just dont understand how insurance works, so they latch onto arguments like "Why should I pay for someone else who is sicker than me?" Well that is exactly how insurance works in every single insurance industry. The scary part is that the "healthy" people dont seem to realize that its way better to be "healthy" and pay more money, than be "sick" and getting insurance coverage. Literally they dont even comprehend the idea that paying an extra thousand a year is better than having cancer.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Yes they do. They don't go to the emergency room or they're not cared for there because it's a chronic condition and they wind up turned away. Having dealt with a chronic condition and uninsurable, yeah it is lethal. If they dont go to the emergency room that is on them, but (I could be wrong), the emergency room will give them treatment in an emergency. It just costs much more than treating it early on. This was the whole point of Obamacare, that you tried to make an incentive to go to the doctor so that it was cheaper for everyone.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) Congrats on killing so many undeserving! Jokes on you, nobody dies. Instead they just cant afford insurance, will get treatment at hospitals and those costs will get passed on to taxpayers and to people who have insurance. HA HA HA HA we all will have higher bills! Well except for people like me who have the "Cadillac" plans. Ill probably get some sort of discount, because never ever forget about the wealthy guy. USA USA USA!
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ May 4, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) This is going to pass. As Nelson Muntz would say: http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/04/politics/oba...ions/index.html HA-HA I should run as Governor of IL on the platform of building a wall to separate Illinois from Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee. Hopefully none of them get smart and move to our state for the insurance.
  16. To be fair, Id say that their best comparison is frat brothers, and while you may not trust them with your money or to accomplish tasks like addition or subtraction, they always come through with beer for the party.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) totally gonna drink some brewskis to celebrate voting for the death of thousands of americans, brah! Haha jokes on them, Freedom Caucus snuck in "Drinking beer" as a pre-existing condition.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) I believe its also under 2 years old and they are in your lap, whereas older than that they can sit in a car seat or an FAA approved restraint device (we use a belt system that goes over the seat). Of course lap children dont actually get tickets, while 2 and up get actual tickets. united actually gave us s*** for our system and tried to get us off of the plane until finally the supervisor read the FAA approval document that comes with the device. We were also sitting in first class and they still did it. I've liked Delta for their regional service, but obviously people are the weakness here and these employees were being dicks. Strange, I flew with a 2 year old and wasnt required to have anything (they had their own seat). I could be wrong, but before I flew I thought I researched the rule and it was not required, just optional. She has flew a bunch of times last year and never was required to have anything.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) Note that this is a recent justification put forward by some Republicans for why it's perfectly acceptable to deny some people health care and cause them pain, suffering and death. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/...dable-care.html Im aware, hence why I used the phrase.
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 4, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) Imagine being raped or sexually assaulted and then having to make the decision to go to the police or not because you are afraid about how it could affect your healthcare. We live in a barbaric country. Well maybe you arent aware but married women cant be raped by their husbands. And they shouldnt be out in public after dark, so this really is only a worry for people living "bad lifestyles". And lets be honest, being a woman is a bad life choice.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) Kansas is definitely going to opt out. They are going to be left in the lurch. I get that people want "change" for "changes sake" sometimes. But not holding their congressman accountable for at least waiting for the CBO score is insanity. It would be like me letting my client buy their house without doing an inspection, or getting financing on a car without asking what the APR is. I mean its their choice, but has "information" become the enemy now?
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2017 -> 09:48 AM) All we can do is vote the spineless morons out of office in 2018. Otherwise they will keep giving themselves less taxes and more benefits than their constituents. Well we cant really do anything because Im pretty sure that most people who post here will have Congressman/Senators who vote against the bill. I worry for guys like Greg because Kansas very well could opt out and he could be stuck with much worse coverage at a much higher rate. Hopefully he's calling his congressman/senators and asking them why they want to help Healthcare Companies make even more money.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ May 4, 2017 -> 09:21 AM) I don't think people remember how poor the equity of health coverage was pre ACA changes. I think its that a certain group of people really just dont care unless it impacts them individually. The reality of the bill is it might as well of said "Being a woman is a pre-existing condition", because generally speaking women have higher health care costs. And why should white males have to subsidize women? Over the last months Ive just decided that there is only so much I can care about the well being of people that dont seem to want to help themselves. I could write hundreds, thousands, millions of words, and it simply wont make a difference. They believe what they want, and that is their right. I have a feeling that somehow my insurance rates will go down, and Id have to imagine IL wont opt out, so Im guessing the places that will suffer the most are going to be Trump states.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ May 2, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) You shouldn't care about Fox. He might be gone after week 8. He's definitely gone after week 17. He will have almost no impact on MT's development. I am so sick of people being upset about the Bears just because it's cool thing to do. Find another team then. They identified a guy who they think can put an end to a disgusting trail of QB's and we're mad. They tried to build around him but we're mad because they went to Ashland, Kutztown and NC A&T. Who gives a f***? The rage is strong in this one. If Fox is going to be gone, then what is the point of having him as a coach this year? Wouldnt it have been smarter to fire Fox, then hire a coach and then get that coach's input on the QB that they would eventually groom? I dont even know where to begin with the rest of your statements. NFL rookie contract is generally 4 years, if Fox is HC for 1 year, thats 25% of the contract. Im not sure that is "no impact." Not to mention hell have to learn Fox's scheme and then next year learn a new scheme. Again, I dont know if thats "no impact." As to the rest, thats your opinion. We are on a message board, people are entitled to have whatever opinion they want. But there is no reason to rage about some one else disagreeing with your opinion. A few years from now we can all look back and see who is right or wrong.
  25. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ May 2, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) They overpaid by the equivalent of a 5th round pick for what they believe to be a franchise QB. Stop reading reports. Who really cares about John Fox's feelings? Vincent Jackson- Northern Colorado Joe Flacco- Delaware Walter Payton- Jackson St. Jerry Rice- Mississippi Valley St. Richard Dent- Tennessee St. Tony Romo- Eastern Illinois Michael Turner- Northern Illinois Steve McNair- Alcorn St. Matt Forte- Tulane Deacon Jones- Mississippi Valley St. Who really cares where you go to school? Great players are found from every level. Cutler, Grossman, Steltz, Orton, etc all played in big-time conferences. How did they work out? Also, the Blackhawks were the best team in the west and got swept by a team who had 2 less regulation wins. They didn't go from great on April 1 to too old on April 13. They got beat by a good team. Does your pu$$y always bleed like this? Wow completely uncalled for. And who cares about John Fox? Well he is the Bears coach and he is going to have much more impact on Trubisky's development than Pace or you, so id venture to say that most people who care about the Bears probably care what Fox thinks about the QB who he is responsible for helping to groom... But those $$ really made your post much classier.
