  1. I like how instead of actually looking at the facts, we just say "lots of QBs get drafted in the first round." As I pointed out, in Vick's draft only 1 QB was drafted, Brees went in the 2nd. In Peyton's draft class only 2 were picked (1/2). In Rodgers draft, only 3 went in the 1st. Last years draft 3 went. The idea that 5 QBs are getting picked in the first round every year is pretty unusual. Even in Luck's year (what was considered a deep class) only 4 were selected. I think right now Bears fans are talking themselves into Trubisky. Not saying that Trubisky may not turn out to be a HOF, just (imo) he wasnt even the best prospect in college last year. Unfortunately for the Bears those QBs arent available this year.
  2. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) Also, I get the whole idea of drafting a guy ahead of slot due to the needs of the franchise. I about flipped my s*** when TEN drafted Davis 5 overall as I thought that was waaaayyy too early, then I saw the only other 2 decent (3 if you count McCaffrey) WR go right after us in the top 10 picks. That said, TEN didn't trade away 4 draft picks for that privilege. Davis was my favorite WR in this draft. I think hes the least likely to completely bust out and at worst is going to be a solid WR. As for Trubisky, as a Bears fan I hope that I am really wrong. Losing 3/4ths wont sick a franchise, it just makes it so the margin of error is much less. I like middle round picks because they are the perfect places to take fliers on guys who could be home runs, if they miss, its nothing. Which is why I have always been a fan of trading down in the first to accumulate picks.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) Yeah, no. He would be a first rounder in every draft. My reasoning: every previous NFL Draft. Well this is impossible to guess at but I think youre wrong. 2001, only 1 QB was picked in first (Vick) Brees went in 2nd. 2005, 3 QBs taken in 1st (Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Jason Campbell), unclear if hed grade out above Campbell. Lets go more recent. 2016- probably comparable to Paxton Lynch, may have been late 1st, maybe early 2nd. 2015- May have been late first, but graded out under Mariotta/Winston. 2014- Better than Carr/Garrapolo? Unclear so likely 2nd. 2013- Definitely would have been 1st. This class is most comparable to this years. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?type=position The issue is that this is one of the weakest drafts at QB since 2013. I think 2013 is worse, but again not one QB went in the top 10 that year. This is entirely speculative, but I think that in 2014 Trubisky would have absolutely been a 2nd rounder at best.
  4. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) This Browns FO didn't pick many of those QBs. The draft history is irrelevant. Plus, I completely understand Ryan Pace wanting a quarterback. He's a Saints guy, after all. And ironically the Saints QB was picked in the 2nd round after the Chargers traded down so another team could pick Vick. Chargers ended up with Brees/ LT. (edit) That being said, after looking at that trade at least the Bears didnt get raked over the coals for the trade.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Michael Lombardi @mlombardiNFL Trying to track down the teams that might have competed with Bears for the second pick and have not found one--Jets never called 49ers Charles Robinson Retweeted Michael Lombardi There are none. #Bears were bidding against themselves on that one. Nobody was trying to move to 2 for Trubisky There will never be anyway to prove this. Even if Chiefs/Texans/Browns tried, they all are going to say "They got their guy" or "This is what we wanted." I personally think based on the pre-draft rumors and what ultimately happened that the Bears were likely bidding against themselves. Browns rumors were that they knew who they wanted at 1 they planned to trade back at 12, both happened. Rumors with Chiefs were they planned to trade into top 10 to take Mahomes, happened. Its hard to speculate if the 49ers would really have dropped down to the later portion of the draft or if the Texans/Chiefs would have given up what it took to get all the way to 2.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) Is there a reason people don't like Trubisky? I thought he was the favored QB on here. I would have been terrified of Watson even if supportive of the "well he wins and he seems nice". Why dont I like Trubisky? Its not so much dislike, its more I dislike Trubisky as the 2nd pick overall where it took extra assets the Bears dont have to acquire him. Trubisky at this time is not an "elite" QB prospect. He primarily plays out of the shotgun, and has taken almost 0 snaps under center. Played in an offense that is run/pass option that is not going to be run by the bears. In his "bad weather" game, he went 13-33 for 58 yards and 2 ints. I also do not have a lot of confidence in Bears ability to develop a QB. In the current draft my preference would have been to trade down (according to Pace there were many offers to trade up to 3) and accumulate an extra 1st round pick next year. If a Qb fell to the bears that they liked in the first, great take him. Otherwise the Bears would have 2 first rounders for next year when there could be 2 or more elite QB prospects. Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen and Josh Allen all could potentially grade out higher than Trubisky, and Darnold/Rosen likely would have been picked above him this year had they been eligible. It was just a lot of different factors that go into why its not a "thrilling" pick.
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:37 PM) You guys complain every year that they don't address the Qb position. They finally make a shrewd move to get one because if they didn't it's likely someone else was entertaining a trade with San Fran to get Trubisky, the guy Pace identifies as "the guy" and you all lose ur s*** over a couple third rounders. In 10+ years of posting ive never once wanted the bears to trade uo for a qb, almost every draft I've wanted them to trade down to accumulate picks.
  8. Cleveland trades down, so pre draft rumors seem to be true that browns wanted garrett and then wanted to move down . Bears clearly bid against themselves.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:28 PM) Still holding out hope they flip him for picks. Thats the hope, bears get Cleveland pick take cb. But it's a dream
  10. Watch browns take Watson and it comes out they faked bears and never wanted trubisky
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:22 PM) Still think he's the best of the QBs thats why it's such a horrific move. No clear cut top qb, there is a chance the best qb in this draft doesnt even go in the first round. What this move says is the bears are 3-4 years from competing and are planning to be terrible next year. Going to be hilarious when next year there are much better QBs and the bears can't take them cause trubisky is on the bench.
  12. Or how about was back up at UNC to Marquuse Willis who went undrafted. Basically bears picked a qb just to pick a qb. Now anything could happen, and he could become best qb ever, but his draft grade wasn't close to top 5 (arguably not even first round) and the bears bid against themselves.
  13. I keep hoping that somehow the Bears flip trubisky, but I know that won't happen. I don't know how you can take a pick that is basically no lose and f*** it up. At worst the Bears had a choice of adams or solomon, at best trubisky fell and they kept their picks. Pace is just not good at his job.
  14. The Bears have 0 plan. 49ers wanted Solomon would never have dealt lower than 3. Horrible trade.
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 06:02 PM) Last call, place your bets: Jamal Adams I concur, safe bet.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 05:47 PM) My prediction is DE Solomon Thomas with a trade back into the first round to get Mahomes Rotoworld has a rumor that Chiefs are looking into top 10 to draft him. I really feel like there are going to be a lot of surprises.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 03:42 PM) Browns beat writer tweeted that Browns are taking Garrett. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 03:44 PM) I don't understand this. The Browns have a ton of draft picks and I don't think Tennessee wants to pick at #5. Why don't the Browns trade for #5 with their #12 and a second round pick instead? Its hard to tell. The newest stuff from Browns writers is #1 is Garrett and that they want to trade down from 12. If both of these things are true, then it would seem more likely that the Browns arent in love with any Qb and are just willing to take their chances on whoever is left in the back end of the 1st. That being said, right now a lot of teams probably are trying to hide their true intentions so its impossible to tell what is actually happening.
  18. The one bad thing for the Bears is that next years draft supposedly has the superior QB talent, but unless youre the browns its hard to consistently get top 2 picks. They could also just wait till round 3-4 and grab a guy like Peterman. (edit) New rumors are Garrett will be #1 and Jags may take Watson.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) Really weird. You wonder if there is more to the story. You also had the reports (via Gabriel) that Bears aren't high on Trubisky. Is it some smoke screen to try and keep people (namely Browns) who want him from thinking Bears are competition (since if the Browns perceive us as competition and they are that high on him, they just take him @ #1). I still think that nothing will make me more excited than drafting a QB. They may suck...but at least I got a young player who could (hell if I know if they will) change the face of this franchise. None of the other positions can do that in this league, imo. Both Kiper and McCshay have Browns taking Trubisky #1 in their final mock. The more I see all the mocks connecting Browns to Trubisky, the more that it makes sense the Browns play it safe and just draft him #1.
  20. The real question for the Bears is are they willing to drop down to 12. A lot of rumors out there about the Browns wanting to move up from 12 to get their choice of QB. The Browns could potentially panic and believe that the Bears/Jaguars would take a QB and that trading for the Titans pick is too risky. A good portion of mocks have Browns taking Trubisky, it just ranges from them trading up to getting him at 12. The problem with 12 is at that point a lot of the top defensive guys are gone and the Bears arent an organization I see taking a chance on Conley (although perhaps if they move down further or with their 2nd round pick.) It just seems like the pieces done match up, unless you get a team who really wants Fournette and is worried that they will miss out by a pick (ie Jets wanting to jump Jacksonville).
  21. $999.9999 I actually have no idea, but it wasnt based on damages, just making the case go away, so its impossible to tell.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) List of safeties taken in the first 10-15 picks of the draft over the last 10 years is not so good. Would much rather have a lock down CB. Which is why Im fine trading down a few picks because you get more picks and will still get an impact DB. I like Allen too but injury concerns are always risky with that high of a pick.
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) Best case scenario for me. Bears take Adams and then trade up into the first to get a QB. Nah best case scenario is that they somehow trade down a few picks, still get Adams, then use the excess picks to trade up.
  24. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 11:17 AM) Caught lying? Really? You werent aware that its lying to post pictures?
  25. It would never get to millions because its just like anything, at some point a person will take the offer. Its impossible to imagine that if someone was offered $10k they wont take it. You could rent a car and drive to Louisville (its a 4.5 hour drive) and still be at work the next day. The part that is odd is that no one at United thought that it would be better to figure out alternative transportation for their employees than creating a pr disaster. It was Chicago to Louisville, you have to believe there was some other way to accomplish their goal.
