QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) Do you have any idea how difficult it is to change tee times at a golf course that you don’t own??? Changing tee times is easy, but it conflicts with his favorite show on Fox & Friends and thats must see tv.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 04:07 PM) Throughout these months of the Resistance, I've run into this crazy phenomenon known as the raging progressive. A person who is so wrapped up in their victimhood and the righteousness of their fight, that they've made all straight white men the enemy - even those of us equally as progressive as they. I've found that there's literally no way to have a debate with these people regarding ANYTHING without it devolving into an angry attack at my white male privilege and my "fragility" - even when we're discussing something unrelated to politics. My question is.... how the f*** do you talk with these people? How do I debate or offer a tactical suggestion (ie: regarding the Resistance and how we fight rampant misogyny or bigotry)? What I don't understand is that for any of these issues to find success and progress, they'll NEED white men in their coalition! It's basic math! And this mindset is exactly why we have Trump in the first place, so why on EARTH are these people still so dead set against learning from their mistakes? But really this post is about how I can better approach these conversations where I ALREADY feel like I'm walking on eggshells, but no matter how much I defer and validate their positions, the second I voice my opinion I'm told to "sit down" because of my white male-ness... which... you know... I totally chose (hypocrisy much?). My approach isn't working... I need to find something that does. HALP. Some people dont want to be helped and there is nothing you can do to change it. The reality is, people like that arent likely to be very productive/helpful in any sort of change because they are unable/unwilling to compromise.

Tonight's game is strange. As an 8 seed playing in the Sweet 16, it should feel like Wisconsin is playing with house money, but the original expectations for this year are looming.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 03:37 PM) Republicans have a 44-seat margin in the House — largest since 1928. GOP has 4-seat margin in the Senate. And a Republican POTUS. Hey its true. Falcons lost the Super Bowl because those damn Patriots didnt help them!

To paraphrase Paul Ryan: "Doing things is hard." Wow, they just realized that its way easier to be obstructionist then to actually formulate plans and follow through on them. As for debt ceiling, again it was easy to posture and "let it blow up" when they could blame Democrats. I have a feeling that theyll work with Democrats to make sure that debt ceiling gets passed. Who knows, maybe Trump will wake up tomorrow and remember that he was a Democrat.

So the greatest deal maker of all time couldnt even make a deal with his own party. Anyone up for a round of golf!

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 12:00 PM) You have my post backwards. This new plan IS a disaster (regardless of how we got to this point), clearly. What I am saying is that people complaining about the last minute nature of the bill, but who were fine when the Dems did it, need to look in the mirror. That's all. Obamacare is flawed. But TrumpCare is an abject disaster. Just to make sure you understand where I stand here. I think it's important to focus ire on the actual bad, but also be less defensive of previous own-goals. Interesting to see what happens if they dont have the votes.
-
Supposedly there will be no vote today.

Look, I get a lot of your are losers and dont know what winning looks like, so just sit back an enjoy watching winners. Winners are closers. They close deals even when the deals are bad, because closing the deal is what its about. Who cares what happens after the deal is closed, I sure dont. All I know is that when I close a deal I get out my Cuban and smoke it, then I play golf. Sometimes people call back and say its a bad deal, I have my lawyers sue them, just part of business. Its Thursday afternoon, I dont work on Thursday, because thats just an extension of the weekend. If you have any questions contact me on Tuesday, because I sure as hell wont be working on a Monday.

QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 22, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) Maybe so, but that's the obvious direction people are going to go. Also, I can't keep track of who sides with who. Im quite confident it wasnt sarcasm.

Strange to win a game that was incredibly frustrating to watch. Nice to see the seniors get one more game though. Probably was an entertaining game for those who had no rooting interest. Now the wait to see who they play.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 17, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) If Trump came out today and said that the Bush and Obama families (amongst others) are in reality reptilians, I mean, what's the big deal, he's only the President of the United States, no big deal, bro. Trump is really going to be disappointed when he finds out V was cancelled.

Vanderbilt should be barred for the tournament for 1 year for being retarded. Congrats Zoom.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 08:28 AM) The Republicans are in such a corner here, there's no way to really win. This new plan does nothing to lower overall costs to taxpayers, is harder on the poor and the elderly, and will see insurance go away for millions. You've got a conservative group who think even that is too close to ACA, and moderates who see the opposite, all in the same party. Compromise would mean, essentially, sticking with ACA. What is the winning scenario here for the GOP in Congress? And for Trump? How do they lower costs without throwing a ton of people out of coverge? There is no true winning scenario. Their "best" case scenario is for the bill to pass House, die in Senate by a close vote. That way they can still blame "Obama/Democrats" and claim that they had a magical solution, if only the Democrats would have supported it. The best case scenario for Americans is that the Republican's drop the nonsensical "repeal" and instead focus on "improving" Obamacare. Theoretically Obamacare is going to fix itself as premiums/costs stabilize, so the Republican's could take credit for "fixing" it without really doing much. Problem is that so many of them ran on unsupportable platforms that they are unwilling to do this.

Havent really followed as much as I used to, so based more on numbers than what Ive seen with my eyes. Duke, Zags, Kansas, UK Zags over UK Dont really feel confident, but its for fun.

NCAA basketball thread 2016-17
Soxbadger replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I would be surprised if Bennett leaves Virginia. He was always a "candidate" to replace Bo Ryan, but the word on the street was always that he was happy at UVA and it would be a long shot for Wisconsin. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 05:29 PM) I honestly think it is just an anti-American thing, and not so much a partisan thing. Definitely anti-American, which is why they likely were pro-Trump. Enemy of my enemy is my friend.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) Jon Oliver talked about it last night Knew I shouldnt have said it in front of my Samsung. Damn Obama "wire tapping" me.
-
Dont worry guys, Trump just came out and clarified that: Trump didnt mean "wire tapping" and that he didnt mean "Obama" did it. Hearing from Kellyanne that maybe Obama was using Trump's microwave to listen in. No word on whether Barron's large stuffed lion has been implicated.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 12:31 PM) Why wont trump put his name on this piece of s***? Never stopped him before lol I was thinking about this last weekend, would be a great joke for a late night host. Trump will put his name on the worst products, but "Trumpcare" is so bad, even he doesnt want to be associated with it.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 10, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) Emergency Rooms will fill up with those who can't pay bills. Emergency treatment will be given to those who cannot afford the after care. Everyone loses. But, you know, Paul Ryan's friends will be happy and f*** Obamacare. Dont worry, Trumppets are trying to push forward a bill that will allow your employer to force you to undergo genetic testing. LESS RIGHTS FOR ALL, NO PRIVACY, THE REPUBLICAN WAY!

Looks like Im going to be getting that loot. Trump going to be paying all my bills. Its like Im on Oprah's favorite things, but this time its Trump and his favorite thing is giving away tax payer dollars. Make it rain Donny, make it rain.
