  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) Thought the below nugget was interesting. I will caveat this by saying I don't know much about "win shares" and what defines them, but I do know under a lot of advanced stats Rose graded out really really poorly: Of the five players involved in the trade, Rose had the fewest win shares last season. The Bulls' three acquisitions (10.6 win shares) were worth 9.4 more wins than the Knicks' two acquisitions (1.2 win shares). For the Knicks I think they believe they are likely in a good position no matter what happens due to this trade. If Rose plays terrible, they clear $20mil cap space next year and go after a big time FA. If Rose is amazing they try and resign him and maybe are semi-competitive this year.
  2. I dont think I can be objective on the deal cause its hard to not want to see Rose overcome the injuries and get back to what he used to be. Its just a bunch of unfortunate events and timing. The real f*** up was not moving Gasol when they had the chance. Lopez/Butler isnt a bad start, but without another superstar this team isnt going anywhere.
  3. There is no point trading just to trade. The NBA is a superstar league, so unless you are trading to somehow acquire potential superstars, there is just no point. If it was the 1 or 2 pick and you are getting Simmons or Ingram, then trading Butler makes sense. Otherwise, what is the rush? You may as well keep your options open to trade him in the future. I guess I just see this draft as pretty risky, so I dont feel a great urge to deal the Bulls most valuable asset.
  4. The best advice I can give people who missed out is to just keep searching. Also make sure you make it a favorite so that if they release more tickets youll get an email. Their system is strange, I have had times where something was sold out and then the next day a random amount of tickets are available, so just be patient. As Bmags said dont buy from stubhub right away. Unless its something thats once in a lifetime those prices almost always start to fall. Not to mention their is a chance they extend the run and therefore more tickets become available.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) Yeah it's legitimate expenses, it's just that of course he's going to structure it so he benefits. And anyone donating to his campaign has to know that some of that money is going to be going directly into his pocket, and that a big chunk is going to go towards paying off his personal loans to the campaign. Well it depends on what you consider a benefit. The idea behind the law is to prevent candidates from getting freebies that are unaccounted for. It is probably slightly better for Trump's Campaign if it had to pay nothing, rather than paying his own companies as the companies are going to have to pay tax, etc on the revenue, so its likely a little bit of a money sink. I dont necessarily think its a problem. If Conrad Hilton had run for President, I would assume he would stay at Hilton hotels.
  6. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) Isn't that fraud? He has to pay fair market value for anything he uses. So when he uses his company's jet, he has to pay his company. When he stays at a "Trump" hotel, he has to pay the hotel. So it isnt fraud, its actually following the law. Its up to the candidate where they stay/what services they use, they just have to pay for them.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) Such BS. Ticketmaster sells more things than concerts. How about plays or things like Disney on ice? I think the problem is that the tickets are limited to "general admission", most events like sports, etc have ticketed seats. I am going to wait a bit cause right now there was only 1 show at Northerly Island and the rest are Tinley Park (thats Chicago area, obviously Cali had an entirely different list.) It seems pretty random, but the site said they will update the list randomly, which basically means you have to check a lot.
  8. Getting an error message due to their website being flooded. I guess Ill just wait and see what happens cause none of the options are exciting enough to make it worth going to Tinley Park.
  9. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 12:50 AM) Why do you keep pushing this SITE? There is ZERO chance Trump says: "I cant beat Hillary - I don't have enough $" You're like a Cub fan talking about attendance...while you lose OVER AND OVER. Haterz gonna hate I guess... Where did I ever say that? You are changing the argument because you lost, quite simply, you lost. You called me out and said "links" and I brought a link. Then you said its something about Hillary beating Trump, where did I say anything about that? Please quote where I said anything about Trump or Hillary and who will win the election. You cant, because I didnt. Because Im not stupid. I am not going to be beaten in this argument, it wont happen. In an attempt to win, you seriously compared me to a Cubs fan. Do you even realize the irony? You are acting like Trump has somehow won something, that its "OVAH" because somehow Ive lost or the Democratic party lost, or I actually dont even know who has lost in your completely failed analogy. But, I am going to teach you how to use an analogy, so that if you are ever involved in an argument in the future, you can hopefully use it correctly. Good Analogy: You are like a Cubs fan, you are already making your plans for the victory parade before the season is even over. Feel free to use that in the future, Ill grant you an irrevocable license. Just cause Im one of those bleeding heart hippy liberals who feels that they have to help those who are less fortunate. Sincerely, Princess Soxbadger (Oh you just got lit up by a Princess.)
  10. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 12:29 AM) I'm ASKING (NOT SUGGESTING) that you show me a link where he is low on cash. Can you do that? No. So STFU. You have no idea what he's doing right now or how a billionaire manages $ while he runs businesses and simultaneously takes up about...the most ambitious thing a US citizen can do and self funds it. You guys are ridiculous. http://www.fec.gov/fecviewer/CandidateComm...teeId=P80001571 This is from May. I cant get the direct link from the FEC for June (I expect itll be up in a day or 2). Beginning Cash On Hand $2,111,070 Ending Cash On Hand $2,408,641 Net Contributions $14,207,446 Net Operating Expenditures $55,080,299 Now compare to Clinton (again May) http://www.fec.gov/fecviewer/CandidateCommitteeDetail.do Beginning Cash On Hand $28,971,372 Ending Cash On Hand $30,156,932 Net Contributions $187,543,590 Net Operating Expenditures $174,073,868 ---------------------------------------------------- Now I am not a self proclaimed billionaire, but I do believe that $28mil is a lot more than $2mil. I guess you can say that $2mil isnt "low on cash" but I guess its all about the semantics. Hillary has a lot more money today. That is just a fact, whether she has more money in 1 month, 2 months or 4 months, than Trump, I cant predict. So please, you arent going to win by telling me to STFU, you wont win by yelling, screaming, pouting, whining. I have dealt with way worse in real life, not on some anonymous message board where it doesnt matter how asinine your comments are. If you want to win, bring facts to show that the FEC filing is false. That this is just another conspiracy against Trump. Please, prove me wrong. Cause its just annoying. Its not like I am picking favorites here, its just irritating that in today's society with all of this technology at our finger tips people are too lazy to do their own damn research. Its just lazy bulls*** and Im sick of it. Its 2016, there are far smarter people than me who would have died to have access to the amount of knowledge that we do, and people like you just waste it. Its a f***ing waste of space. We could be doing so much more as a country, but instead the greatest society on earth (and maybe that has ever existed) are arguing about "conspiracy theories" as if there is some merit. If this country falls into the abyss, we earned it. We f***ing earned it with bulls*** like this.
  11. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 10:49 PM) lol - Got any links? I don't find any of those things even remotely interesting. Or the firing of Lewandowski. Business man... gonna business. But seriously...are you trying to imply Trump is down to his "last $1M trying to fight Hillary" or something? Get real. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 11:35 PM) We are 5 months from the general and conventions and you're trying to convince people of what? LOL... DONALD f***ING TRUMP DOESN'T HAVE MONEY??? I actually believe he was trying to say that Donald Trump's campaign has a surprisingly low amount of cash on hand. A fact that you could have easily checked. Instead you foolishly tried to dismiss it as false with a weak "got any links". Unfortunately this isnt some 3rd grade debate where you can walk back a ridiculous comment by trying to move the goal posts. You got caught, maybe you thought SS was just lying, maybe you thought "No way is Donald that bad at managing money." I honestly cant really imagine what it would take for me to make such a foolish post when I could easily type "Trump FEC" (although hilariously google tried to make me search "Trump feces" but I digress. So lets change the goal posts, what exactly are YOU trying to prove here? That Trump's campaign actually has more money than his FEC filing? That SS post is some sort of "conspiracy" to convince the American people that Trump has less campaign cash than he really does? Or have Trump supporters started down the path of "If you lie enough times, it becomes the truth." (Strangely that quote cant actually be attributed to anyone specific.)
  12. Kerr completely losing his composure in this interview. No way can you say that you are glad Curry threw his mouthpiece, nor should you be whining about Curry getting called for fouls when he probably had about 10-15 that werent called. But I guess the "MVP" of the league deserves some sort of help from the refs.
  13. Warriors get away with so much its impossible to take any of their complaints seriously. Lebron really has shown that he is the best player in the NBA. No way NBA has the guts to suspend Curry, but they should fine him for the temper tantrum.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:12 AM) I would like an honest answer from you folks. My question, "Was Bernie treated fairly this primary season? Or was he robbed?" My answer to you is he was robbed. CNN declared Hillary the winner before the California primary which is bulls*** considering it cost him California. Why go vote if it's been decided? Also, he's not a fricking socialist, he's a Democratic socialist. We already have socialist aspects to society. He just wants more: free college education, free health care, etc. He is not the lunatic fringe nut the media portrayed him to be. And finally, he was robbed because of the Democrat's ridiculous superdelegate system. All the people Hillary has catered to rewarded her with their support. Of all the great women out there I can't believe she gets the honor of being first female president. My gosh, if the government was more aggressive, the woman LIKELY would be in prison for what she did compared to others who have breached security in government positions. I don't blame Bernie for not quitting. Be Hillary's pest. Bernie lost. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Its the same as in sports. How loud your fans scream, doesnt change the score of the game. CNN has no obligation to Sanders. The story they posted is a fact. Sanders attitude right now is the exact reason why he had no chance at being the Democratic nominee, he couldnt be counted on to be a good team player. Its the same reason why there are rifts about Trump as the Republican nominee.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) Bingo. You have also hit on the reason that Bernie Sanders has gotten as far as he has, and large share of the Democratic platform having been what it has been historically. The difference is that Trump is only about himself. I am not a Sanders fan, but I actually do believe that at the end of the day he is in politics to try and help other people. On the other hand, I believe that Trump is entirely in it for himself. That he would do anything to put himself in a better position, make more money, etc. That is why I am really anti-Trump. From a personal perspective, it is unlikely that Trump as President would have any impact on my life (well unless he starts WWIII but I think he is too much of a coward for that.) But I just cant idly sit by while a person vilifies large swaths of people for nothing more than his own personal gain. Trump is nothing more than a demagogue. I think the best comparison would be a less intelligent Ferdinand Marcos.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) Which is exactly why Trump is so popular. The left has honestly convinced itself that racism only works one way, which drives the right crazy, so now they are returning the racism favor. Hate begets hate, racism begets racism. This is like blaming the Jews for the Holocaust. If the Jews hadnt taken German jobs, then the Germans wouldnt have been mad at them. Shame on those Jews. The real problem is no one wants to take responsibility for their own actions. Who cares what the other side thinks, just because Trump may think idiotic things, doesnt make me all of a sudden change who I am to combat him. I think the actual reality is that the right convinced themselves that the left believes racism only works one way. I have yet to meet someone on the left who wouldnt concede that there can be racism against white people. But then again, I think the point that many on the left are actually making is: While racism may occur against white people, it is more prevalent against non-whites. The reason why Trump is so popular is because creating scapegoats is effective. There is a certain percentage of the population who are very willing to blame everyone else for their problems, who do not want to take accountability for their own position in life. Well see what happens in November.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Here is the problem with this. The politics of race just blew up in the faces of the left wing. For generations now there have been those who have assigned traits to entire races, such as that people who aren't of a minority race can't possibly understand them, nor can they fairly judge them because they aren't one of them. Now you have one of the greatest political manipulators who has come along and picked up that exact logic to conclude that if whites can't judge minorities fairly, how can it work in reverse? This situation is exactly why the generations of claims about races not being able to fairly judge other races is so insulting. Now that exactly this has used by an idiot like Trump people can see through the thinly veiled racism behind this broad concept that insults entire races of people. Hopefully people learn from this and quit using it in every day life. (this isnt really directed at you SS2k, just wanted to start somewhere.) I think the best answer is that this is the exact reason Trump isnt qualified to be President. I happen to work in a field where I hear this type of nonsense all the time. It wasnt fair because X was Y and I am not Y. The people who I speak to about this are generally not people who I would consider qualified to run as President of a preschool class, let alone President of the United States. But, I think the most damning part of this is that instead of actually trying to follow the rules and win his case, he is whining to the media. That is all Trump does, whine whine whine whine. There are rules in court, you can do things like file a motion to substitute a judge. In IL you can substitute a judge by right, meaning that you can always change it to start. You can also file a motion for cause. But it appears Trump did or has done none of that. Instead he is whining and grandstanding. If people think that Trump is going to beat the Putin's of the world by whining to the media, they are foolish.
  18. Sometimes its hard for me to be unbiased so I am just going to say I hope Cleveland wins in 5. I have always liked Lebron and I dont like Curry.
  19. I would use NIN "Hurt" but the Johnny Cash version. But if you want something upbeat "let's go crazy" prince. Its hard cause I am not sure what you want your piece to say.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) I trust Pace more than you jibronies. #Heel Coming from a guy who cant spell jabroni?
  21. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) My hotel burned down on Tuesday night and a bunch of my stuff was ruined. I was left standing in the rain for 2 hours, watching the hotel burn, before they would let me go to my car. I feel worse right now than I did that night. Damn that sucks, sorry to hear about it, hopefully their insurance pays for you to get all new stuff. And I have come to expect that whenever I watch the Bears draft I will be sad, so I dont ever get my hopes up.
  22. Personally think they shouldnt have moved up to make that pick. Hopefully he proves me wrong, but there is always so much LB talent.
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 08:07 PM) 2 OT's off the board ahead of Tunsil. Bears trade up... Maybe trying to make up for passing on Randy Moss.
  24. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 07:37 PM) Not sure if you've seen it but the long talked about video finally leaked just before the draft, on his twitter account. http://deadspin.com/laremy-tunsil-s-accoun...-vid-1773721598 The most troubling part is the lack of judgment in using that smoking device. It's terrible and burns your eyes.
