I dont want to make this political, but the current President has gotten away with more lunacy than arguably every other President. I spent countless hours prior to his election pleading with people that what we have seen in the last 3 years is exactly what we would get if he was elected. If anything he has not been attacked enough, because there is simply not enough time in the day to go over everything he has done to harm the institutions of our nation. He has harmed even non-political institutions. There is simply no way to quantify the damage that has been done over the last 3 years and those who have attacked him should be credited.

Some people would listen. Contrary to your belief, some people actually want to help out and are willing to make small sacrifices for the good of everyone.

Sox are going to lead the league in attendance.
-
This is one of those emperor has no clothes moments. Would have been better off canceling and keeping up the illusion of millions wanted to attend.

You can thank my daughter for one of those negative tests. Her physician's office made her get one before theyd see her for an appointment. The entire process took 2 minutes and we received results within 24 hours. She said it was pretty painful though.

This chart seems to show Sweden who was consistently 3rd in deaths per million, now jumping to a tie for first. And none of this matters at all. The US has been terrible at it. To suggest that by doing less the US would have been better off is absurd.

I have to take my kid for covid screening tomorrow. Her doctor wont let her come into the office until afterward. All because we mentioned she has a cough at night for the last 6 months. Obviously not covid, but I guess that is the world we live in now. Ill update on how much of a hassle it is.

Who's At Fault For No Agreement On The Start Of The Season?
Soxbadger replied to Soxsi75's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yep its both sides. Just look at Blake Snell: There are people making less than $15 an hour stocking groceries and risking being exposed, but a guy making more than a million is just going to sit because the risk is way higher. /shrug -
A lot of law firms have asked people to take pay cuts and have reduced benefit packages.

In a completely messed up year I think going top heavy makes the most sense.

Its hard to imagine a player not taking 3.5mil in today's economic situation. There is just to much risk to pass it up. Im sure that the Sox and the players worked things out before hand.
-
Society isnt normal right now. You cant just pass on $3mil.
-
If I had to guess id say Crochet takes about $3.1- $3.2mil and Kelly takes $3mil Crochet is in college, who knows what happens next year. No way can you turn down $3mil over $200k-$500k. Kelly has more leverage because likely in 2-3 years things are back to normal and he is younger. I think that Crochet has to get more than Kelly but it wont be that much.

I have to think that both picks will sign if the money is close to what they were looking for. With all of the uncertainty in the world cash is king.

Its also because this year is crazy for scouting so the "safe" factor makes a huge difference.

Maybe in a non rigged system they could have done better. Its patently false to act like slavery is when things became equal.

Segregation was a generation ago, thats not really old. Not sure how old you are, but in some of your masters classes your classmates may have had parents who lived through it. But their parents and grandparents should have just tried harder Makes sense.

In case people are keeping track of stupid things that are happening today. President Trump has strongly condemned kneeling. That is kneeling during the national anthem, not when the police are apprehending a suspect. The US postal service just released thousands of cloth masks that said "Black Lives Matter", they were held by the Post Office because "These packages were originally set aside for further investigation because there were indications that they contained non-mailable matter,” It should be pretty clear to everyone that more protests are required and that the federal govt is completely messed up.
-
This isnt correct. A protester has no legal authority nor obligation to stop someone from doing something wrong. Police have an obligation to protect and serve. If they see another police officer breaking the law, they then have an obligation to do something. For example, if I pushed down an elderly man in front of a police officer, do you think the police officer should do something? If I am placing my knee on another persons neck in front of a police officer, do you think the police should do something? So its absolutely fair to judge a police officer for not doing anything when a crime is being committed. Maybe its not as bad as committing the crime, but its not good either.

Most people never really have those type of encounters with police. They can go their whole lives never even being pulled over. But anyone who has witnessed them enough knows that the violence by the police can occur aggressively and without provocation. This really is their best behavior. Its what happens when you put the mask and tactical gear on. They are dressed like combatants, you wear that with the expectation of combat. Militarization of the police is an entirely different issue though.
-
At minimum civilian oversight. Imagine if those 18 reports had to go to some sort of 3rd party civilian oversight who could have the officer terminated. Imagine if when there is an arrest or situation like Floyd it had to be live streamed to a 3rd party civilian oversight who could order the officer to stop, or order the officer not to shoot. Instead of spending millions on militarizing our police, we could be spending it on technology to protect our citizens.

I live in Uptown where the main protest was last night. The target where they stopped in front of I have shopped at since they converted it from a CTA rail yard. Some windows were broken, some shops were broken into. Most of that seemed to be inside jobs or opportunists. On a regular warm night in Uptown there may be shootings, there may be windows broken, there may be bad stuff. It wasnt the end of the world, it was just another day. But it was strange to hear people acting like Uptown is Lincoln Park. I guess that means this area has finally made it.
