Just because something bad hasnt happened yet, does not mean that it wont happen in the future. Im sure that when Unions were arguing against child labor, etc, owners were saying that other factories have children and that they havent gotten hurt. So what, its not a question of what is the impact, its a question of what do you believe. I believe that its not the govts place to say that people cant collectively bargain. If you believe that the govt should have the right to take away collective bargaining rights of individuals, so be it. Regardless of whether unions have any impact, or whether collective bargaining does anything, I dont agree that the govt has the right to take it away. id rather not let the govt be a runaway freight train that can take away the rights of individuals as they see fit. I know that I am in the minority here, but I stand up for peoples rights regardless of what side of the fence they are on. Its not a Democrat or Republican thing, its a people thing. And if its a question of the govt or the people, Im going to side with the people.

Who cares what was done in the past, Obama had no part of it. If you dont believe people have the right to unionize or to collectively bargain, that is fine. But to argue that because other states/govts have stripped away those rights, is a bad argument. At one point certain states allowed slavery. That didnt mean that it was right to have slaves, it just meant that some states were screwed up. I always hope that people will look at the facts, instead of making "two wrongs" arguments. Who cares if the other side was wrong on a different situation, it doesnt mean that they cant be right on this situation. You arent bound by bad decisions, we thankfully have chances to make the right decisions. I guess Im of the opinion that people should feel that they can change their mind and make the best decision, not worrying that some how it may go against something else that happened a year, 10 years or 100 years ago.

I thought the game was not well reffed and that Sullinger gets way to many ft attempts. Ive seen other games where that much contact resulted in 5-6 fts, not 15+. -

Law of averages, after Wisconsin's game they can go 0-18 and still be around 50% for both games. -
Fleeing to prevent quorum was within the rules, the same as a filibuster. I may or may not like it, but if you are a politician you would be derelict in your duties if you did not use every rule to your advantage. I wish that I could say that if the Democrats didnt leave the state, Walker would have been more reasonable. The problem is, he just doesnt seem to care. The only hope for people who didnt want Walker to do what he was doing, was to prevent him from reaching a quorum and hoping that by showing he cant get away with anything, hed be more reasonable. What else could they do? Just let him pass the bill? They may have given him enough rope to hang himself, Im not sure. As for short memory spans, people may have them, but unions and corporations dont. Supposedly Democratic party in Wisconsin has been raising massive money this week. Its definitely bad politics, because the last thing you ever want to do is piss off your enemy into action. What you want is a complacency, not rage. People show up to vote when they are pissed off.

He never said that he would take away collective bargaining. As for what most have or have not, that is a red herring. The question is, did he run on this platform. The answer is, no. Its not about taxes or funding, if he just wanted the economic parts most reasonable people would understand. But he wants to strip away their ability to collectively bargain, and I dont agree with that. I have no union, I will never be part of a union, but if people want to start one, I dont think its the govts place to take away that ability. I guess Im not a big govt type of guy like Walker, Im an individual rights person. And I believe that we all individually have the right to get together and agree that we are going to negotiate for the better of the whole. I dont believe the govt has the authority to take that away from individuals. If I had to predict, Id say that Walker and Republican's arent long for Wisconsin and possibly may have shifted Wisconsin back to Obama in 2012.

To my knowledge Walker barely spoke about unions, only stating that he would want there to be some health and pension concessions, but he never stated that he would completely take away all bargaining rights. He also received donations from some unions (the unions that donated to him are exempted from these changes.) According to most polls, Walker does not have 50% and there are at least 2 Republican senators who may be recalled. http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/robert...n-union-busting Just so you know the Journal-Sentinel is a Republican leaning publication, as compared to the Madison newspapers.

Labor unions can do good, labor unions can do bad. But I think people should have the right to form a union and collectively bargain, if they so choose.

I really cant see Penn State beating Wisconsin tomorrow on a neutral floor. Wisconsin should have beat them @ PSU but Battle caught fire and scored 20 points in the 2nd half (PSU scored 36 in the second compared to 20 in the first). Furthermore PSU had 20 ft attempts to Wisconsin's 3. Wisconsin had 20 fouls to PSU's 10 and had 2 players foul out, Gasser and Taylor, plus Leuer had 4. That being said, PSU has to first beat Indiana, which I wouldnt say is a sure thing. -

My guess is the violation is failure to report a violation. -

The problem is Tressel had information that he should not have had. If he reported it, it may have actually messed up a federal investigation and potentially cost the attorney who disclosed it his license. He should have never been put in the position, and once he was there he probably should have hired an attorney or at least disclosed it to a OSU attorney so that they could figure out how to handle it. -

The attorney actually put Tressel in a really bad situation. The attorney clearly knew he wasnt supposed to be revealing it, and then put Tressel in a bad spot by asking that he keep it confidential. Stupid situation. -
Metallica isnt a 1 seed. And as long as they dont lose to Rush, they should get a chance to face Led Zeppelin. Unfortunately its at that point their dreams will be over.

The Wall by Roger Waters was the best concert Ive ever been too. The Wall was one of my least favorite Pink Floyd albums, but after seeing it live I think Comfortably Numb may be one of my favorites. The only bad part was that it just wasnt the same without Gilmour playing the guitar. Generally my favorite album was Animals, with Three Pigs being normally my favorite song. Pink Floyd isnt for everyone though.

Wisconsin may go crazy. Walker finally realized he could pass a bill without Democrats if there wasnt spending, the problem is he didnt follow the notice requirements (24 hours) and there still was some changes to spending. Id guess that there is a Madison law professor who is writing a Complaint with a request for a Temporary Restraining Order.

Littlehurt, I agree with your statement. Here is what I said in the first page of this thread: The fact is most people picked them to finish 6th or worst and if they were rated, they were rated close to 25. Conversely, Painter's team was consistently rated as a top 10 team, to finish in the top 3 of the Big 10. How did Bo Ryan not do better than Painter given what people believed to start the season? -

Bo Ryan is the Coach of the Year in the Big 10. Most "experts" had Wisconsin finishing in the bottom half of the Big 10, im not sure they even had one vote in the top 25. Fast forward and they arguably had a better season than anyone in the Big 10 besides OSU. -
I didnt live in the era either but part of the reason why LZ doesnt have 17 albums is that they didnt make 17 albums. Everyone has their opinion, I think The Who are fine at 3, maybe could have been a 2 but Im not a fan of U2 so they could have easily slid. If I had seeded my top 4 would have been, LZ, Pink Floyd, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
-
How do you rate popularity? If you do it by albums sold, LZ blew The Who out of the water. Same with Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones and The Beatles, all bands who were also seeded above The Who.

Considering that Metallica covers Led Zeppelin songs and credits Led Zeppelin for their sound, Im just going to have to believe you have no idea what you are talking about. http://www.encycmet.com/cover/ Here are a list of Led songs Metallica has covered: Custard Pie -Original: Led Zeppelin Dazed and Confused -Original: Led Zeppelin How Many More Times -Original: Led Zeppelin In My Time of Dying -Original: Led Zeppelin Moby Dick Original: Led Zeppelin (II) Stairway to Heaven -Original: Led Zeppelin (IV/ZOSO) And here is an article where Ulrich credits Led Zeppelin: Or maybe youd prefer Hetfield and his top 10 songs: http://www.metallicaworld.co.uk/James-Hetfield.htm 2. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin http://www.metallica.com/Band/james.asp So you are right, even though the members of Metallica credit Led Zepplin as an influence for their sound, Led Zepplin had no influence. Its fine for you to hate on Led Zeppelin, its just hilarious based on your other comment.
-
You clearly missed the point. Of course people have different music tastes, its just that in every measurable away Led dominates Metallica. I found it ironic that you as a Metallica fan wouldnt respect Led who is often credited as the founders of Heavy metal. I just wanted to point out the irony in saying Metallica is awesome but Led is trash, when Led basically invented Metallica's sound. You may not like their music, but there is no way they arent a 1 seed as they are arguably the best Rock band of all time.
-
Well Metallica is not even in the same universe as Zepplin. Zepplin has 200-300 million records sold, Metallica has 100 million. Its hard to imagine hate for Led from some one who likes Metallica as Led is one if not the founders of Heavy metal. This is an excerpt from Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Artists (Led was 14): http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/10...ppelin-19691231

I guess I actually worry that the crying thing will bring the Heat together and galvanize them. As for crying after a regular season game, it shows they have heart. Id rather go to battle any day of the week with some one who had heart like that. Its mental right now. I never thought theyd be as good as most, but they are better than this. Hopefully the adversity will break them instead of bringing them together.

I agree with Jenks obviously, but there is no way to explicitly define torture. Any definition would have to include exact examples and would only as good as the list. Thus in a case where you can not explicitly define torture (what may be torture to me, may be your favorite thing in the world) we have to use comparisons. In my opinion, I know what torture is, I know the line when I see it. I dont think I can explain the line because its a question of fact, and depending on the facts of the case, there may be a different line. This isnt an objective test where 1+1= 2, its subjective. If you know some one is extremely terrified of the color purple, putting them in a purple room may be torture. But that just shows that its a fact based question, each time you have to look at the facts and determine "Is this torture?" The only way to determine is based on other known torture. (edit) And its not about extremes. We already know pulling out fingernails is torture, that is an easy one. It doesnt matter if I can think of something much worse.
