If the SC has stayed the appeal, its at least 50/50 whether he stays on the ballot, if not better.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 07:33 AM) There ARE other qualified people running for Mayor, not just Rahm, sorry to break it to you. Before Obama, odds are you never even heard the name Rahm, and suddenly he's the only qualified mayoral candidate in Chicago because you say so? I think not. Rham sucks, and I hope he can't run so he can't win what would have been handed to him on a silver platter by retarded Chicago voters. This guy is a slimeball and as corrupt as they come. Yep before Obama I had never heard of Rahm Emmanuel, I didnt even know who his father, Benjamin, was because he wasnt a well known Jewish Dr or anything. In fact I wouldnt know that Rahm went to Ashe Emet, where my mothers friends taught, nor would I know that he went to New Trier High School, where a considerable amount of my friends went. Your right, I never knew of Rahm until the day I was walking passed an Obama for Senate sign and I remarked that was awfully close to Osama. If anything I know far more about Rahm, than I ever will know about Obama. I can say who I believe is qualified, its called my opinion. Everyone is entitled to it, so you can disagree that with it, but the rest of your statement is just patently wrong and basically destroys any credibility that you may have had on this matter.

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread

Its hard to complain about where Wisconsin is right now because I was probably the only person outside of Madison who had any faith in this team. That being said, they could have beat ND and imo should have, they had the ball @ UNLV and could not get the in bounds pass to Leur, they were up 9 against MSU with 130 left and had the ball. These are 3 of the 4 Wisconsin losses. Hate to complain, but damn frustrating. -
Supreme Court Justices are in a dicey situation. These are elected positions and if you go the wrong way you could end up not being reelected. No matter what, the spirit of the law is being corrupted here. I dont think anyone can honestly say that this situation is the type that the law was created to prevent, unfortunately it was poorly worded and you get bad results. If Rahm isnt able to run, get ready for some bad times in Chicago because Im not sure that any of the other candidates are qualified, except for the fact they lived in Chicago for the past year. And is that really all that matters?

Horrible excuse. Residency should be defined in the statute. No excuse for having the most important word not defined and therefore relying on case law to try and interpret a word that clearly had a specific meaning to the drafters. Youll notice section 65 ILCS 5/1‑1‑2) (from Ch. 24, par. 1‑1‑2) Sec. 1‑1‑2. Definitions., defines 10 terms, yet does not define residence, residency, etc which should have been defined. You are leaving a term "residency" undefined, which can have different meanings depending on the law or interpretation. That is lazy. Had the word been defined in the statute, we dont have this issue.
-
The intent of the residency law remains clear, its just whether or not the law is properly written to serve that purpose. You could easily have a law written: In order to be a resident a candidate must: A) Reside in the state/city for the previous year, B ) Have resided in the state/city at least 5 of the previous 10 years, or whatever you want it to be. That way some one who is not from around here, who just wants to enter the race at the last second would not be able to run. Conversely if I had lived in Chicago for the previous 9 years, but only left for 1 week, Id be okay because I fall in part B. No excuse for how badly laws are written in the US.

Going to be odd when the Illinois Supreme Court has to get involved. Alderman Burke's wife is an Illinois Supreme Court Justice. Burke has been one of the few Alderman against Rahm. Unfortunately the voters are going to be the ones who lose in all of this, because Rahm isnt a carpetbagger, hes just a guy who f***ed up on a technicality. The ruling is right, just in this incident the ruling is actually going against the spirit of the law. The law wasnt intended to prevent long time residents from running if they moved temporarily, it was to prevent people who were not from this area from entering a race at the last minute and trying to win. No one denies Rahm is from the area, its just whether or not he me the technical requirements. Worst case scenario for getting Chicago back on track is having second tier candidates as the only options for Mayor.

I disagree with the above assessment. Id take more than 4 players before Wade, and the Wade/Lebron is just not a great combination as they both have similar games (you can see my posts on the heat through out the summer about this issue.) Are you really taking Wade over Durant, Kobe, Lebron, Rose, CP3, Howard, etc? Wade is a great player, but if I was starting a team, hes not one of my top 5 picks, and thats what I consider a top 5 player.

Simmons is using the term rival wrong. He's using it like "Dunder Mifflin's paper rivals any other paper brand", which would mean equals. Whereas when people say the Bears and Packers are rivals or have a rivalry they are saying that they have been competing for the same goal for many years. Just because one side is more successful at the moment or over time does not mean there isnt a rivalry. For the last 60 years the Bears and Packers have been rivals for the NFC North or NFC title or however you slice it. Absolutely no way to correctly use the term rivals without it applying to Packers and Bears.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords shot in head

Over time I have come to the conclusion that I can not support the death penalty. Even if that means I would not get my pound of flesh. -
They already have a deal with the SEC. ESPN is pissed the Big Ten created their own network and doesnt want to compete with a Longhorn network as well. As MLB, NFL, etc create their own channels ESPN becomes less important. I dont even watch ESPN highlights anymore, I only watch for games.

The only way the Bulls can get Melo is if the Nuggets believe that a combo of Deng, Taj and draft picks is the best that they can do. The Bulls just dont have that many young assets to trade.
-
Bulls get a break, may have been off of the bobcat guy, but pretty inconclusive imo
-
Watching the Bulls can be hard, what is Thib doing. 3 point game with 33 seconds left, the first thing you should do is try and score 2 for 1. Instead bulls score with 25 seconds left. They let 15 seconds run down and they arent even fouling? I dont think you can let it go to 1.3 seconds left, gotta foul immediately.

Jenks, The real problem with preexisting conditions and allowing insurance companies to set the price is that they make the policy unacceptable. I had this issue with one of my clients, the insurance company was "ending" its specific policy and therefore no longer wanted to cover the client. Keep in mind the insurance policy was in effect, paid for and the insurance company is going to keep existing in Illinois. Due to that the insurance company was required to offer another policy. The company offered my client a policy, with something like a $20k deductible saying it was due to a preexisting condition. He had been previously insured by them and he had always paid them. These are the situations that we need to prevent. I completely understand where you are coming from, if I am a low risk insured, why should I pay more than a high risk insured? But insurance companies try and make it impossible for some people to get insurance, even if that person was always insured. I think that there should be some protection for people who have been insured their entire life and then an insurance company tries to drop them or force them to drop. Every case is its own situation, which is why its hard to create all encompassing laws. I hope that there is a middle point some where, I dont think most people have a problem with higher risk people paying more, its just I have a problem with insurance companies creating ways to stop insuring people. I hate dealing with insurance companies, they always want their money, but when it comes time to pay out, they will do everything in their power to cancel the policy. Its ridiculous how many Declaratory Actions insurance companies file.

Well thats why I am going to wait and see before I jump to conclusions. Im just saying that there are circumstances where this is not a crime, there are circumstances where it is a crime. Hard to tell without all of the facts.
-
Well its hard to guess when we dont know the accusations, but part of the problem (presumably) is that you are talking about US citizens violating US tax law, through a Swiss company and having a Swiss banker report it to a non-govt entity. The question is, if the guy is doing it purely to report crimes, why was it given to wikileaks exclusively, instead of the IRS, Dept of Justice. I would say if the Swiss banker had turned over the documents to the US, and the US did not take action or completely ignored it, then he would have a good argument that he released it to Wikileaks because of the inaction of the govt. But going directly to wikileaks is concerning. Makes me suspicious.

There are a lot of different pieces when you discuss legally. Publishing a stolen document may be illegal, it may fall under an exception (newspapers first amendment right to publish.) Thus it starts to get really complicated fast. Is Assanage a journalist. Depending on how you answer that question will take you down different paths of legality. Then you have the whole "whistle blower" idea that could apply. In the end, you also have a surprising amount of jurisdictional questions. Its a hard one.

Age of consent in Illinois is 17, unless you are over 22, then you have to wait until she is 18. So technically you may or may not be a pedophile. So just make sure to take her to the south, some of those states have much younger age of consent laws.

Its not about bulletin board material, its about the psychological mindset of your opponent. Regardless of being a divisional opponent or Super Bowl, there are going to be some teams, people etc, that you just dont llike. And that little bit more of incentive may be the difference. Bears may not need it, but if I was the coach, I would take anything I can get. So if Jennings wants to focus more on the Super Bowl than the Bears, so be it. As for the underdog, Im sure that in public the Bears will say they are the underdog, but in private Im sure they believe that they are the better team. Packers dont respect the Bears, im fine with that.
-
Well percentage of completions isnt as important as yards per completion when playing a defense like the Bears. You generally would assume a QB should have higher percentage against cover 2.
-
Bears are generally one of the most viewed teams. Packers-Bears match up will be generally one of the most viewed, Bears v anyone is generally highly rated. Bears have the largest undivided market, if you want money you want the Bears on your tv.
