Official 2010-2011 NCAA Football Thread

That 07 Michigan team was 6-2 in the Big 10 and beat Florida in the bowl game. Florida won the NC in 2006 and 2008. Carr's problem was that he could not beat OSU. Michigan fans were unhappy with the fact they failed to finish first in the Big 10 in his last 3 seasons Im not sure how Carr failed to adapt to anything as only 1 team was arguably more successful than Michigan and it was OSU. Well the Big 10 had 2 teams who arguably would have had a shot to win the NC, Wisconsin and OSU. Just because Wisconsin lost to TCU a team that was undefeated and was next in line for the National Championship game doesnt mean less than Illinois winning a completely meaningless game. You can go back to 2007 and see all of my posts on the subject, I said that Rodriguez would be an absolute failure and would never come close to the success of Carr. -
What do you think of my nerdy sim league baseball team?
Soxbadger replied to TomPickle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Its impossible to tell without studying the entire league and seeing how the relative ratings work. Even then you would have to wait a season or two to see how the actual settings were (home run heavy, etc). That being said, ask 2 different people and youll get 2 different answers. -

Prior to the Illini game Wisconsin had shot almost 40% from 3 for the season. I agree that Wisconsin should have been more aggressive inside, but it really seems that Wisconsin has decided to be a 3 point shooting team this year. They were second in three attempts made per game of Big 10 teams, and shooting 35 against Illinois really didnt change that trend. This was a game I expected Wisconsin to lose, so I was glad that at certain points they actually could have made a run if they had hit some of their shots. I expect Wisconsin to win at Madison, but Illinois has given them the most trouble at the Kohl Center. -

Congrats to TCU, but they arent a little guy and claiming they represent AQ's is some what hilarious. TCU was in the SWC, which was one of the conferences that helped create the BCS. If anything, TCU helped to create the system that kept out AQ's. If it wasnt for some Texas politics TCU would have joined the Big 12 over Baylor, and thus would have always had an AQ. They are now moving to the Big East where they will have an AQ. They arent comparable to Boise State, they are just a team that kind of got caught up in a conference shuffle. As for the game, it was frustrating and if not for a missed field goal may have gone the other way. Wisconsin ran all over TCU, but just didnt finish as well as they had been. Bielema also was to conservative, at the end of the 2nd quarter he settled for a field goal instead of trying for a touchdown. Also have to shake your head at the time out situation, but at the end of the day Wisconsin had 3 downs to stop them and they couldnt. At least it was a good game and I think that everyone who watched it will respect both teams for their strengths. -
Good luck with that Ms. Sterger. Had you been serious about this whole charade, you would have reported it to your employer when it happened. Most places dont take 2 year old complaints very seriously, especially when you are complaining about some one who did something under a different employer (Jets and Vikings are not the same ownership group.)

Minnesota v. Wisconsin at 6pm tonight, should be a great way to start the Big 10 season. -

Then change the rule, but as the rule stands its arbitrarily and inconsistently enforced. If the rule stated in "the air" is going to be called more strictly, Id entirely agree with the foul. But to the best of my knowledge there is no exception. -

Unfortunately I can make "attempt on the ball" mean anything or mean nothing. You have to use discretion when enforcing a rule. With less than a minute left, a close game, where a guy doesnt even try and hurt him, but merely fouls him (how many "intentional fouls" can be called in the last minute when teams are actually trying to foul to put the other team on the line), you have to use discretion and give the guy an and 1. It was bad judgment, I dont think you can look at the circumstances objectively and come to any other result. Even if my team won that way, I would still in my heart feel that it was cheap. You dont kill a team unless the guy really went out of his way to hurt him. -

Yo Rock, you hear anything about this Ohio State thing they are talking about on ESPN during the Boise game? 10 players potentially suspended for some tattoo parlor scandal? -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) He pushed him in the back while the guy was in the air. It has nothing to do with my "hate" of Illinois. That's an injury concern. You are going to kill your credibility on any Illinois issue if you really keep pressing this one. Even the announcers are saying its a bad call. Unless the Illini player tries to take him out (which he didnt, you can clearly see he barely grazes him) its just a regular foul. Bad call, bad result. -

Im not even an Illini fan, but that was brutal call. Its inexcusable and they screwed a bunch of kids who deserve more from a paid professional. Call the foul, let him shoot the fts. That being said the Illini guy should have never touched him. -
Or instead of focusing on the red herring dog argument you can read the article that I linked which talks about 2 specific penguins as well as studies of various different primates and mammals.
-
Well then we can move on to the example of gay penguins. http://articles.sfgate.com/2004-02-07/news...al-gay-penguins No matter how you slice it, homosexuality exists in nature. And they whole gay bar thing is kind of ridiculous. First of all even in Boys Town you dont see any of the bars have labels on them. The fact that they are predominantly frequented by "gays' makes them colloquially called a "gay" bar. But they allow anyone into them. Just like calling a bar that plays country music a "country bar" or a bar that plays Wisconsin games a "Wisconsin bar." Ive never met a gay person who wanted anything more than to just be treated the same as a straight person would be in similar circumstances.

Id rather have the 10 kids, never know when youll need a replacement kidney or liver.

They will have to hold the draft because up until the last possible minute it is going to be "business as usual." They will be drafted, not have a signed contract and whenever the new CBA kicks in, they will have a contract. A possible benefit would be that as they are already drafted, they would have a stake in the new CBA and most likely will get more favorable treatment as compared to players who have yet to declare. -

Lock out presumably would happen after the draft, so a player would already have had to declare before there is any certainty about a lockout. Unless the NCAA grants some exemption, they would be ineligible to return to NCAA. Should make the decision easy for fringe first round players. But I think the top guys are still going to declare and let the chips fall where they may. -
So that bears pull play on kick returns has seemed to work.

Right I get that some people unnecessarily hate Brett Farve, would anyone care how many times they called Walter Payton a warrior? The guy earned it, for better or for worse. He is out there playing tonight injured, in s***ty conditions for a crappy team. There are plenty of NFL players who would have been sitting on the sidelines next to AP collecting a paycheck. Ive never been a Farve fan, but the unnecessary hate is actually making me wonder what people's problem is. Say what you will but Ive been watching the same telecast and I havent noticed 1 comment that wouldnt be said about guys like Brady, Manning, Aikman, Elway or whomever else is the flavor of the minute, day or week. I mean I would never have believed Id defend Farve, but that is how ridiculous its become.
-
Their comment was legitimate. Farve drew a guy offside and then took a shot downfield. Itd be one thing if they started talking about how great Farve was for getting to that snap and picking it up like a veteran.
-
And this is probably Farve's last game against the Bears, maybe last MNF, etc. They are going to be all over him, hes a HOF and owns a ton of career passing records. Hate him or love him, hes earned the blow job the announcers are going to give him.
-
His arm is hurt, when he celebrates you can tell hes trying not to extend that arm. Also hes on a bunch of pain killers, Im sure with that cocktail he can barely feel anything. And Peppers makes up for his penalty.
-
Well unless the Bears decide they want to play this is going to be a long game.
-
It was an ordeal because a small minority cares a hell of a lot compared to a large majority not really caring.
-
There is an inherent flaw in this argument, its trying to determine what a "typical" person is. Furthermore, arguably the greatest military mind in the history of the world may have had homosexual experiences (Alexander The Great). In fact if you study Spartan military history (Alexander was not Spartan, this is just another example), they actually wanted the soldiers to have a much deeper bond because they believed that they would be less likely to abandon someone that they had a deep bond with, than just another soldier. The idea that homosexuality makes you less masculine is in my opinion a myth perpetrated by heterosexual males who question their own masculinity/heterosexualness. It is no different than race, religion or any other reason why one group believes that they are superior than another. Most stereotypes are based on some truth, but we should hope our society tries to view people as individuals, not stereotypes. In the end, bisexual troops have been accepted in the military before Christianity was even invented. Ill take my chances with the best trained troops, regardless of sexual preference.
