NFL To LA Rumors Heat up Again
Soxbadger replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
It was also extremely shortsighted to give the Twins a stadium before the Vikings. Baseball franchises are much less in demand than football franchises. It was unlikely the Twins could find a new home or threaten to leave. -

A problem with his idea is that he believes he could negotiate with individual teams. In reality he would have to negotiate with conferences. And that is going to run into some issues. With a 12 or 16 team format, SEC/Big 10 are going to want at a guarantee of 2 teams, if not more. You then would have to at least give 1 spot to each of Pac-10, Big 12, Big East and ACC. That is potentially 8 of the 12-16 spots. Most of these conferences are going to want 2 guaranteed bids. So one of the biggest obstacles is to some how get an agreement on: 1) How many teams. 2) How are those teams decided. -

Yes. But for some reason the state of Minnesota wanted to dick the Vikings. Dont ask me, its peculiar. -

As I previously stated you wont be getting the Jaguars. Here is an article about why the Jags cant move: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/387483-...l-advised-lease As I speculated there is a lease agreement that makes it very difficult to move. So you are looking at over $60mil in exit costs, as wel as having to demonstrate that the Jaguars lost money for 3 straight years. The problem is that the stadium revenue is not the lions share of the revenue made by an NFL team. Revenue from TV contracts and licensing make more money than revenue from ticket sales. Therefore even if the Jaguars didnt sell half of their tickets, its likely they post a profit. Not to mention I would expect there to be lawsuit filed attempting to enjoin the Jaguars from moving. Thus Vikings, not Jaguars, are the most likely team to move. -

That is the Vikings argument, we bring in a lot of money to the state, you should help to foot the bill for the stadium construction. Im not sure if Minnesota will give in, I think they are broke and unfortunately did not use any of the money for the Twins/Gophers to help the Vikings. As a Bears fan it wont be as fun without the Vikings, as presumably the new LA team would go to the NFC West and STL would move the NFC North. -

Its not about the NFL, its about the owners and the state. Minnesota has made some decisions that really make no sense. They built a new stadium for the Twins and the Gophers, but they left the Vikings in the Metrodome. If LA or another city comes calling and offers money to build a stadium, why would the Vikings stay? You cant just point to the Jaguars and fans, because that isnt the issue. The issue is a new facility, and the Jaguars stadium is relatively new. Also the Jaguars likely owe money on the stadium or have a long term lease, so its not financially viable. Whereas the Vikings lease ends in 2011 so they wont have to pay any damages for breach. -

Im fully aware, you can read my comments on the game in this thread. The game was closer than you would expect at Illinois. You cant hold it against Illinois that there was the wrong ball, but you cant definitively know what would have happened had the right ball been used the entire time. Illinois had to play Oakland tough to win, I stand by my statement. More was pointing out that the Illinois and MSU wins look better. -

Oakland has been giving teams trouble. Illinois and MSU had to play them tough, they must have something. -

Yeah he was doing a lot of Wisconsin's Florida recruiting, and they have gotten some pretty successful guys. I just hope you guys beat Boise. -

Ive liked what he does with Wisconsin's defense, although some times I feel like im watching the Bears (soft coverage giving up to much underneath). He is supposedly a decent recruiter and he should have some connections having been in the Midwest with Wisconsin. It will be interesting to see what he decides for offense. -

As long as it doesnt snow during rush hour, I actually like it. Makes the world more whimsical. Snow that is.

The footage of the ceiling collapse is interesting. I wonder if previous rips have been that big, one of them looked like it was an entire panel.

Presidential Towers did a huge renovation and canceled the leases of all tenants outside of My Thai, McDonalds and the Sushi place.

Well it was a million times better than All-Star Cafe (formerly located in Presidential Towers), and its one of the restaurants near my office. Its not a monster sports bar, more of a neighborhood watering hole. It really just depends what people want, but in the loop area most bars are "interesting". There are also places between the river and canal like Blackie's etc.

Most attorneys dont even understand the patent process. Im not sure how the original patent wouldnt have been caught in the prior art search of the subsequent patent, but Im not a patent attorney so i dont deal with that stuff.

I eat at Dylan's almost every Friday. It has a bunch of tv's and is decently priced. Its not a bar where there will be a ton of people (most likely). Its easy to get to from both Metra stations, and a 10 minute walk from brown line

Ive only met 1 person from this board and it was a random encounter where that person recognized me by my email on an evite. Id also prefer something that is located off of public transportation (preferably red line, but brown line isnt the worst). The problem with the West Side is unless you live there, you are taking a bus or cab, and getting a cab back home can be tricky.

I think you can give Illinois a break for being down when using the wrong ball. Thats just messed up. -
I think if you read my posts youll notice that I correctly predicted that Konerko would be back and that the Sox and they would most likely "split the baby" in terms of money. I had no inside sources or connections. I was armed with common sense.
