Hard to believe no one else in the league could find a way to use CJ Anderson. -
Dont bother. Had you brought good news, everyone would be singing your praises. The fact you said something that could be seen as negative seems more legitimate to me. Who knows.
-
Disagree. I think either or both would absolutely sign here if the Sox hit their respective numbers.
-
Unfortunately for a lot of people, these posts arent contradictory. I have no sources, but Im guessing that Machado is much more willing to slow play than the Sox thought. If I had to guess, they are probably like $50mil total apart.
-
Yep. If they were "close" this thing would be done. You dont add Yonder/Jay, and then miss out on Manny over $10 mil total on a contract.
-
Ive been pretty positive about Manny, but last week I said a few times that the deal needed to get done by Friday. Now there is obviously still a chance that the Sox sign Manny, and they have much better odds than id have thought a year ago, but I feel like deals have "momentum". And you need to get the deal done while it has positive momentum. It just seems like the Sox could have Manny if they really want him. And for whatever reason they are just holding out on giving into what he wants.

WSD admitted in this very thread that he didnt have actual contract figures and just used what seemed reasonable. So he absolutely is doing what I am saying, he even admitted it. Im not saying guys like that cant break news. Just when you have to make a living off it, you start to cut corners and blend what your "sources" have said, with things that make sense. As long as you do it right, you never get caught.
-
He got overzealous because he wanted to get his name out there. Just saying that he was going to Yankees wasnt enough, so he had to make that other part up. It was simple. The rumors were Machado would decide in early January. So he guessed final offers were in and that the signing would be soon. I think he actually broke something one time, and was bitter he didnt get credit.

In the race to "scoop" people, lower tier bloggers are going to take risks to increase their credibility. The idea that some random guy in Australia had that level of information was not really believable. The same with WSD the other day. They are taking readily available information and coming up with plausible guess. They then say "sauces" and if it doesnt pan out it really isnt a huge deal. Clark backed himself into a corner, and until today I think he thought it would pan out. The problem is that his scoop became too big.
-
Just think he finally realizes that Yankees arent likely the destination so better to quit now.
-
Yep. Cant try and bargain bin. To me 8/280 makes so much sense.
-
Thats why i don't want this dragging over the weekend. That being said it seems like ther yankees are sticking with being more fiscally sound. They let Corbin get away and SP is a bigger need.
-
I also think LA will resign him.
-
If we are taking guesses on contracts, I say 8/280.
-
That picture was taken during the 5 hour photo shoot at the cell. (I kid)
-
I said this earlier, but I really feel like the Sox need to get this done before the weekend. The longer it drags on, the more I feel like things go sideways.
-
Not to mention even holding a clipboard in the NFL is way more luxurious than playing in the minor leagues.
-
Always get your money first. His first NFL contract is going to be way more than $4mil guaranteed. Even if he sucks and is out of the NFL in 2 years he can then go back to baseball.
-
I have no sauces, but I have a strange suspicion that if the Sox are getting Machado it has to happen before this weekend. I just feel the longer it plays out the more likely something unpredictable happens.
-
Part of me says that NY isnt out of it until he signs with someone else. They have the money and the history to just completely go berserk when they feel like it.
-
Depends on how i got it. If its from work, Id make a fake account and post it. If it wasnt, Id just use this screen name.

Youre not comparing apples to apples. The Bears have generally not broken the bank for new coaches. Whether its HC, OC, DC. They havent generally gone after the Grudens, Parcells, Sabans etc who command huge salaries to start. I was posting from my phone so it wasnt the most eloquent post, but it was a simple response to why Bowles may go to TB instead of the Bears, which is that the money may not be the same. Perhaps i could have written a longer response about how its likely TB is going to offer Bowles much more money and I doubt the Bears would match. I really didnt think it was very controversial, so I didnt put a ton of time into the post. I just thought it was odd everyone was acting like there was no way Bowles could pick TB. -
Nobody knows anything concrete and Im betting that one of the big time writers gets the scoop for all the times tehy helped the team he goes to.

Based on my knowledge of Yankee fans they are now probably saying Machado isnt even good and wouldnt even start for them.
