  1. Good for Kenny. Dayan may never be a stud, but everything im seeing right now makes me like his future potential. Giving him and Jackson up (2 players under 27 with potentially tremendous upside) would have been devastating for a few months of Dunn.
  2. Berkman in his interview implied that there was a deal with the Sox, but he chose the Yankees. As a Sox fan it stings, but as a baseball fan there is just no way you can disagree with Berkman on picking NY over Chicago.
  3. I love how there is no chance that Jackson is able to harness his stuff and turn it around. Ill go with Cooper, KW's and my opinion. Jackson can be fixed and hopefully he will be. And Jackson costs a lot of money NEXT YEAR, this year he is relatively cheap. The guy has the ability, and his talent level is unquestioned. Hes only 26, maybe a change of scenery and being in a pennant race will get him back on track.
  4. i just hope fans arent tools towards Jackson and cheer him whenever he starts. I think hell do pretty well with the Sox and the Sox rotation is what will take this team to the playoffs and beyond.
  5. I think that may have been the case had Dayan not been hitting. But I think when Teahen comes back you will see Lilli sent down and that you will see Vizquel, Teahen and Dayan rotating at 3b, with a DH rotation including Kotsay and Jones. I just cant imagine that the Sox wont continue having dayan play against LHP. Id be 100% fine with a line up of Vizquel at 3b and Dayan at DH against lefties.
  6. While Id like to improve the offense, KW just doesnt have the bullets this year, unless he wants to give up something that will hurt the Sox in the future (Beckham/Dayan). I am more optimistic than other Sox fans about the current team because I think that Beckham/Dayan can have big second halves and that if the Sox work Teahen, Dayan and Vizquel right that they can overcome some of the worries at DH/3b.
  7. They dont need it at the price of Dayan +. Id gladly let Vizquel play 3b and Dayan DH. Dunn would make him better but its a steep price for only a few months.
  8. Im happy with the team as is. I hope that the Sox dont blink.
  9. Yeah I know, Ive been really nervous hed be traded but kind of feel that the Sox are saying no on moving him.
  10. I cant even express how happy I am that the Sox didnt trade Viciedo today.
  11. I think Kenny liked Wells, but no way could the Sox add him without getting serious money.
  12. You dont walk your way off the island. The pitch wasnt right down the middle but on 3-0 the pitcher almost always gets a strike if its close.
  13. I honestly would have had more confidence with Edwin batting there. I wish theyd play Castro more. He may not be a long term solution, but at least he looks competent and against a lefty that seems like a no brainer.
  14. When you look at that list most of the guys are NL players. Some NL guys just dont want to play in the AL. I think its more of a perception amongst players that the Sox arent a front line team like the Red Sox, Yankees, etc and so they are more hesitant to get traded here.
  15. I think the reason people arent waiving their NTC"s is because of the following: 1) Sox arent considered legitimate contenders for WS (most years) 2) Sox arent known for breaking the bank to resign players. Unless youre a Sox fan, I cant really imagine most people picking the Sox over the Yankees right now.
  16. Yeah I think Kemp could be a possibility.
  17. I didnt miss it. Ive never said this was KW's best deal. I just dont think it was a bad deal, and Fangraphs seems to believe the same thing: KW has some amazing deals under his belt, in order to be one of his better ones it has to be a complete decimation for the other team, something like Floyd, CQ, etc.
  18. Here is what fangraphs says: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/t...os-perspective/ Interesting that they believe Jackson will be worth $10mil on the open market.
  19. More than likely Houston didnt want any of the crap the Sox tried to pitch them. My guess is Houston wanted some one like Dayan + and Kenny walked away.
  20. I think that Jackson could be exponentially better than Hudson. There is a reason why the Sox made the deal, and its not because they are in the business of overpaying for players who arent as good. My guess is that Coop soured on Hudson, while at the same time he likes Jackson. Could be a case of the grass is always greener, but I just dont have a lot of faith in Hudson. He may prove me wrong, but it wouldnt surprise me if the guy never is a major league starter either.
  21. And if you were signing the checks that may matter. But the people signing the checks have decided that Edwin Jackson is worth 15x more than Hudson. Probably because 15x0 is still 0.
  22. What does it matter what was traded for those guys? Matt we traded Borchard, who was formerly one of the top Sox spects. Gavin the Sox traded Garcia and a ton of fans on this very board panned it saying it was a horrific deal. I think there were a handful of us (yes I still remember) who kept pointing out that a player named Roy Halladay had a similar track record as Floyd and that people should be patient. I think the Sox are better with Jackson than with Hudson.
  23. Jackson's fastball has more life and movement than Hudson. Hudson's pitches have seemed flat and float. /shrugs Ive always loved Jackson's stuff. Never been a fan of Hudson. This trade is basically a perfect storm of player I was meh on being traded for a player I always loved. My guess is that Coop/KW see the same thing as me and feel Jackson can be a damn fine pitcher.
