  1. It sounds like he is speaking the little known crocodile English, made famous by crocodile Dundee and Steve Irwin.
  2. I know hes Australian but that's some pretty bad English.
  3. Its just a coincidence the Sox like these guys. I mean so what Machado's random cousin was hired to be assistant gm. He was the best man for the job!
  4. Clever move. Cant bring up Eloy to start season because Jon Jay is blocking him... I kid, maybe...
  5. Machado is super close to Yonder. Yonder is in almost as many posts on Machado's feed as Machado's wife. He may be a cheater, who knows. But he seems to be really good friends with Yonder.
  6. The problem with your argument is that someone being the #1 rated prospect is about as "cant miss" as it gets. If there was some other better/cant miss prospect, why would they have been rated lower than Moncado? Its not like Moncado was in A, he was almost MLB ready. Anyone more cant miss than him was already in the majors and I believe those guys werent on the table.
  7. I know Ill be in the minority, but I think with the Bears talent on Defense they can find a bunch of good options for DC. I personally didnt like the how he called the game yesterday.
  8. Maybe, but its going to be a tricky one. What do you do for players who are under control already? Do they immediately become FAs?
  9. You may be right, there is no database that I can find to give me the raw numbers. But I went through some teams and it looks like a majority are arb/pre arb. I still think its a hard sell because there is a good percentage of players that it doesnt help. The other issue is that it keeps the same system where now teams are just looking for even younger players that are cost controlled. Until they tie revenue to salary, the owners can do whatever they want and there will always be collusion theories. There would have to be cap/floor. Eventually over time the cap becomes the floor, but to start theyd need a floor. I personally think that they just have the illusion of getting more than other sports.
  10. Id have to do more research than its worth, but I think not having a cap has hurt them. When there is a cap/floor teams generally spend to the cap, even when they suck. When you have a cap thats tied to revenue/profit, the players keep getting increases and its almost impossible for the owners to keep the market down. Id have to look, but Id guess that NFL salaries have increased at a higher pace than MLB salaries for this very reason. I think that the illusion of no cap makes the MLBPA think they are getting a better deal, when they arent. Imagine if every team in baseball spent $150mil per year. That would be a hell of a lot more money for players. Now maybe it hurts the megastars (ie Lebron James could make $50mil plus with no restriction on his salary), but for the average player it would help. They obviously think it makes a difference. Lozano hasnt historically pulled this junk (as compared to Boras) so I think that they must really believe they are getting low balled. Because that doesnt help the majority of current players. Why would a guy who is already out of arb years care about that? The MLBPA represents current players, the deals are always going to be skewed to help the majority. Its just like when its always easy to agree to rules that screw future rookies. They arent in the MLBPA so none of the voters care.
  11. I feel the baseball players association is the weakest/worst of all associations. What can they really do? Tell a player to sign for less than what the player wants? Until they get a salary cap with a salary floor, this is how its going to be.
  12. The article seems to imply that the Yankees wont go in the 7 /270 range, so I stand by my 8 years $275.
  13. If Machado was at the Bears game, you know Yonder would have been on instagram with a picture and #familyovereverything.
  14. Well that is the problem. Even when Bulls do something good, they seem to find a way to turn it into something bad.
  15. We have no idea whats going on, its purely speculation. But (imo) the Sox have much more to lose missing on Machado than the Yankees do. The Yankees can hunt big time free agents every year. The idea the Sox would have a 50/50 chance on Machado would have been hard to believe as recently as last off-season. But that seems to be the reality. The Sox just cant let this one slip away. Even if they offered $100mil more and 3 years extra, it wouldnt be the end of the Sox. Those last 3 years are 7 years from now. $30mil wont nearly be as much then. I just think the Sox seem to be playing with fire and they are the team that will get burnt much worse if they miss.
  16. From the protections stuff it seems like the Bulls were given free money to take him. The problem is that the Bulls never do anything smart with their money.
  17. The Sox really need to stop screwing around. Even if they "overpay" its not going to be a big deal long term. I think they need to find out what it takes to get it done this week and make it happen. The longer it strings out, the more likely something unexpected happens (imo).
  18. Absolutely. If Im his agent Im telling him under no circumstances take that offer if there is another offer that is $100mil+ more. But that is why the White Sox need to wipe out the Yankees offer. If the Sox are only $50mil more, but an extra 2 years, I can see them taking the Yankees money. IE Yankees 4 years / $140 mil Sox 6 years / $200mil In that scenario I could see Machado taking the Yankees offer. If the Sox want him, I think they need to be at minimum 8 years 250mil to be safe. I think if they hit 8 years $275 hed sign now.
  19. Littlehurt is 100% correct. Parkey kicked with no confidence and that is why it had a low trajectory. Its one thing for a 50+ yard fg, but even on the first kick you could see Parkey was nervous.
  20. No I wouldnt. But the Yankees can pitch that Machado is betting on himself and that in 4 years they would have to pay heavily if he puts up great numbers. Yankees are one of the few teams that can say they will always pay their own. I still wouldnt do it, but I could see the Yankees angle for how to pitch Machado on the idea.
  21. Campbell and Brown (smaller wr) likely gone by Bears pick. Maybe KJ Hill or Ridley, but i think they both arent locks for going pro.
