  1. Maybe this was the reason Lebron announced he was changing from 23. I still think its a long shot, but ive always felt the Bulls made the most sense if he didnt stay in Cleveland.
  2. Ryan was the first to offer Henry (I believe). Ryan has been pretty good at spotting talent with his early offers, he just hasnt landed many of them.
  3. Yeah not going to game 7 would obviously be huge. Time for the Rally Beard to strike.

    LOST!!!!

Damn Hawks not winning on Sunday. I have a feeling that when its all said and done Lost is going to triumph over the hockey game for television time.
  5. Some times you swing and miss. Ill be here even if they go 0-162.
  6. Weber has had more success than most coaches. Its a strange phenomenon.
  7. I think it will be hard for Illinois to pass Wisconsin in the Big 10. The biggest reason is that Wisconsin is almost automatic at the Kohl Center. If they go 8-1 there, that means that they generally only have to go .500 in away games to be in the upper part of the Big 10. Last year they were able to do pretty well and they lost their best player for a large part of conference play (Leur). Their biggest loss is going to be Bohannon who provided a lot of stability at the guard spot. I know that Hughes is the bigger name, but in my opinion he was both Wisconsin's best and worst player. In terms of shooting Wisconsin has allegedly added some sharp shooters in Dukan and Brust. They also will have Rob Wilson starting this year and he has looked really good offensively in his limited time the previous 2 years. I just dont see why Wisconsin, who beat MSU/Purdue/OSU will all of a sudden drop drastically. In fact they almost beat Purdue 2x last year (once without Leur). Its mainly going to depend on which of the top teams fair better against the other top teams. This year Illinois dropped 2 games against Purdue and OSU. They are going to need to at worst split with those teams. Well see what happens, but I think expecting a 4 seed (which is how this all started, that if Illinois doesnt get a 4 seed its a disappointment) is some what ambitious.
  8. Well regardless of finish, Illinois was the 6th best team when it came to the tournament committee. Of the 5 teams that made it over Illinois, only OSU/Wisconsin may be worse. Of those 2 teams, OSU brings in amazing players, and Wisconsin has proven to be one of the most consistent teams in the Big 10 year in and year out. To just assume that Illinois is going to jump MSU/Purdue/OSU/Wisconsin/Minnesota is drinking the kool aid. Let alone to assume that Illinois is going to be a top 4 seed. That is just in the Big 10, we arent even talking about other conferences. So unless the Big 10 has 5 of the top 16 teams (unlikely as they will all have to play each other and will give each other losses) it is a real stretch to say that the measuring stick of Illinois this year is a top 4 seed. Maybe I will be wrong, but there is just nothing statistically to suggest that Illinois will make a much bigger improvement than the other teams listed. In fact Id be worried about NU. (That one is for Zoom)
  9. ND's biggest attribute would be how good it is scholastically. It may give the Big 10 a slight boost in prestige on name alone, but once ND is in a conference it wont be that special in terms of athletics. ND has a great reason to join, due to the Big 10 Network, Indiana and Purdue make far more money than ND. The reason it wont join is because right now it has the prestige of being unaffiliated and can schedule whoever it wants on their own terms. If it had to join the Big 10, it would become an average team in the conference. (Edit) And my post should have stated that I wasnt considering ND, because I dont believe they will join. It was about Missouri, Nebraska and Rutgers.
  10. As a Big 10 graduate/fan Im extremely meh on these schools joining. Syracuse brings basketball, but not sure what the others do besides bringing numbers.
  11. A more reasonable stance would be to hope that Illinois is one of the top 5 teams in the Big 10 next year and makes the tournament.
  12. Itd be nice to end it in 5 and not even give the Canucks any hope.
  13. Guilty mind. Basically you knew what you were doing was wrong and did it anyways. The origins of criminal law required a actus reus (guilty act) and mens rea (guilty mind), without both you were not guilty. Statutory crimes take away the "guilty mind" part. They originated with small things like parking tickets, etc. The fact I thought I was legally parked, doesnt make a difference, its just whether or not it was illegal. Statutory laws have been expanding and it makes it so situations where some one had no idea they were doing something wrong can be found guilty.
  14. On the second vancouver goal it seems that a guy changed a split second too slow. Hopefully the Hawks capitalize on the penalty, but it would have been nice to shut them down on the power play and be up 2-1. Hawks defense has been some what questionable.
  15. Soxfan, Well see if she testifies, that would be his only real chance. Outside of jury nullification where they just dont enforce the law. Statutory crimes are bogus (imo) as they get rid one of the most important parts of criminal prosecution, which is mens rea. I just dont believe that some one should be guilty even if they had no idea they were committing a crime, had no intention of committing a crime, and took reasonable steps to ensure that they were not committing a crime. IE If some one says they are over the age of consent and you have no proof otherwise, that should be sufficient.
  16. You can ban a fan from coming to the park. Its just very hard to actually try and enforce it.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) Plus, if he's arrested and charged in a criminal case, that means that the DA/Grand Jury believes that a crime happened. They always believe the crime happened. I dont know the statistics and im sure not the rate but id guess most cases that go to a grand jury result in an indictment.
  18. So I think Rios is officially off the Soxtalk hate list?
  19. Yeah I enjoy flash forward and its lame it will be canceled. (I heard the same thing about V). Just because a show is on tv for a long time doesnt mean its good, it just means stupid people enjoy it.
  20. Unless Calipari can recruit (ie pay players to come to his team and leave before the sanctions hit), I really dont see his value.
  21. Wisconsin/NU appealed the original ruling and won the appeal on behalf of Brust. It was an odd situation as Iowa fully released him, but the Big 10 rule stated that he still could not get a scholarship from a Big 10 team.
  22. It may not have made sense, but in my opinion if Chisoxfn says he heard something, you can bet that its the truth. That is the problem I have with Cowley's attacks, that he dismissed some one else could possibly have more information than him on the subject.
  23. haha sorry, given the track condition and the fact I havent looked at any of the racing forms, Im not really going to make a prediction. Given the track condition I would venture to say that a dark horse could be a good pick. This will be the worst track conditions I can remember.
