Im on right now gotta download some things it appears though.

Maybe it didnt impact him, but if you were to ask whats a bigger distraction: A) Manager yelling at fans during the middle of the game. B ) Players watching college football. Im going to say A.
-
Yeah it was the Sox fault to think he could handle CF. But after they realized it, they were smart to cut their losses and not consider him a long term CF solution. If the Sox had gotten a great offer for Dye, my guess is that Swisher is still with the Sox. They most likely got a better deal for Swisher and thought Dye would be able to produce similar results to Swisher.
-
Swisher is not above average at CF. He played 0 games at CF this year and prior to joining the Sox had only started 57 games at CF for the A's. If he is even average, why dont the Yankees use him there?
-
No Rios plays a premium defensive posiiton, so Id expect more for him than Swisher. Konerko was drafted as a catcher, should we move him there? People were concerned about Swisher in CF before he played 1 game, most fans just thought that he would be such an offensive improvement that it would make up for his potentially horrendous CF.

During the 7th inning, Ozzie and a Tigers fan got in a confrontation right as the lead started to slip away. Everyone at the park thought Ozzie was going to pull Freddy, Ozzie then goes out and only talks with Freddy but doesnt pull him. Ozzie through out the whole inning continues to yell at the fan. My guess is that the Tigers fan said something that led Ozzie to irrationally keep Freddy in. Ozzie's head was not in the game that inning and it lead to the Sox loss.
-
People who werent at the game dont even know about the Ozzie outburst in the 7th. Have any newspaper articles even talked about it?
-
The article didnt say that at all. The article stated that the White Sox coaching staff didnt want to screw with Rios to much. And so what about the sample size? Why not add the sample size of Rios whole career to this year: .280 .330 .443 .773 Oh yeah that wouldnt support your argument. Cant pick and choose sample sizes, Rios has been hitting better the last week, there is absolutely no denying it and the statistics support it as well.
-
His vent was so that no one asked the question: "During the 7th inning, why were you busy yelling at a Tigers fan in the front row and didnt pull out Garcia?"
-
Yeah its irrational to trade a player who has to play out of position, is b****ing, is a clubhouse problem and didnt hit well. I wonder what the definition of rationale is in that world.

Greg, The numbers are usually inflated. Ive seen them put up 29k on the scoreboard (last week) and I felt that it was closer to 20k. Last night it was legitimately filled and unfortunately there were a lot of Tigers fans (more Lets go Tigers chants than Lets go Sox). Generally when one of those chants starts the whole crowd starts to boo and shout down the visitor fans. Last night it never happened. Sox fans started leaving early and there were still a ton of Tigers fans in the seats. I saw them in the first row, places you never see opposing fans. A lot of season ticket holders did not show last night. (Edit) Ozzie was yelling at a Tiger fan in the first row during the inning where the Sox gave up the lead. How is that not more distracting than a player watching football before or after a game? Ozzie needs to take responsibility it was insane.

Where have you heard Rios is blowing off Walker? Here are Rios stats for the last 7 days: 316 .409 .632 1.041
-
You obviously werent at the game last night then. At least 1/3 were Tigers fans in the lower box seats and I didnt get a chance to go to the upper deck, but judging by previous games ive been to recently (upper deck barely having fans) my guess is that they were mainly Tigers fans.

I liked Javy and didnt want him to be traded, but I was in such an extreme minority I just cant even imagine how people can now change their opinion. As for being a bust, I didnt say either were, just that Swisher (not Javy as I think Javy is legitimate good with some issues that could be worked on) is junk and the type of hitter the Sox dont need. If the Sox had 8 high obp and ba players, Swisher would be fine. But to many of those hrs are going to be solo shots for the Sox and they needed a more complete hitter. Not to mention the Sox had to start swisher at CF (where hes not a great defender) because they already had CQ and Dye, plus Thome as Dh. Swisher just really had no position and seemed to be the best trade option.

I was at the game last night, id say 50% were Tiger fans. This tirade was about Ozzie trying to cover up his antics during the game. When the Sox were up 5-0 he started getting in a fight with a Tigers fan. I swear that he didnt pull Garcia because he was trying to show the fan up. The move backfired horrendously and the Sox gave the game away. The best way to deflect your own mistakes is to blame other people. Im sorry but watching football games didnt lose last nights game, Ozzie's use of the pitching staff did. Man up Ozzie and admit that yelling at a fan for 15 minutes wasnt what you should be doing. Just for once take responsibility for your own bulls***.
-
This thread is ridiculous, 99% of the fans wanted Javy gone for nothing. Swisher was junk and I dont care how well he has hit for NYY. He still has troubling splits 6 hrs at home, 21 hrs away? Last year for the Sox he hit 19 hrs at the Cell, 5 hrs away. He is basically a boom or bust hitter, and the Sox didnt need another one of those. Ill take Rios.

For the draft? I would have thought people would need to be on to draft their own team. I just feel that If im going to be putting time into this league that we should make sure we start it off right.
-
Yeah i wont be around during the sox game, why not set a time when people can attend?

9/25 Detroit Tigers @ Chicago White Sox

Peavy wouldnt be pitching if they were tanking. -
And there are plenty of things that I dont care for that my tax dollars are spent on. Its just an irrational argument that because some people dont want the Olympics that the rest should suffer.
-
Oh s*** $500mil of tax liability. Lets say there are 1mil tax payers in Chicago, that equates to $500 per person. If I wanted to travel to see the Olympics I would have to pay thousands of dollars. I can already see the crippling impact that $500 will have on my life.
-
Fantasy draft or actually starting with teams?
-
If Chicago gets them, the support will skyrocket (imo). I just think many people dont want to be upset if Chicago doesnt get them.
-
Yeah every "poll". Polling is a really inexact science. Unless I saw how they were running the polls, random phone calls, etc., its hard to make any real argument. From the people I know its mainly positive, but thats just my poll.

Well considering I live in Chicago, that should be a testament to the fact I believe it is the best city in the world. Ive never been to Rio, but that wasnt exactly the point of my post. It was to say that if you are going to make a website about Rio being better, at least give Chicago its due. I wouldnt create a site about Rio and say that its history is "crime" or other negative comments. I would create a site where I pitched for my city, but at the same time acknowledged that the other cities are great. You can say Im in the minority, Im not really sure where that comes from. Most people I talk to want the Olympics, and the people who generally are negative are more against Daley etc, then the actual Olympics. But go ahead and promote website that's sole purpose is to try and say Chicago isnt a great city. That is your call.
