  1. Yep, you take what you can get but its completely possible he cant give a lot and you really dont want to torch your pen in game 1 or 2. Yes it sucks Lynn didnt come through but again he was one of the best pitchers this year.
  2. If you want to ignore Rodon's health issues, sure. But with his arm right now Lynn was going game 1 or 2.
  3. Having a sub 3 era earns you playoff starts. There is no legitimate argument that Lynn wasnt starting game 1 or 2. It just wasnt happening.
  4. The guy signed to be with the Sox for a few years. He did everything to earn his start. With Rodon not feeling great he was absolutely going to start game 1 or 2. The match ups make tomorrow more winnable. If anything the Lynn and Grandal need to figure out how you can beat a fastball hitting team throwing 74 fastballs on 76 pitches. Either have to get effectively wild or show more breaking stuff.
  5. Just really not much you can do when Lynn was such a good player this season. While every stat etc suggested he wouldnt do well against the Astros, it just would have been impossible to not let him start. I really think the Sox purposefully went with Gio second because of concerns about Lynn this game.
  6. I must have watched a different game where it isnt 6-0. Not sure what people keep saying about Lynn. Did you not want him on the roster for this series?
  7. I hate to break it to people, but the manager didnt lose this game. The players did.
  8. Astros look more off balance against Lopez than they did against Lynn.
  9. I get the idea, but in a playoff series I dont think you want to send a message to your team that its over in the 5th inning.
  10. Way to early to punt it, not looking good but a decent inning can change everything.
  11. Really hoping that Bradley bunt shows the Sox they need to do whatever it takes to win. Astros have been shifting against way faster Sox players so it should be fair play now.
  12. He is all over the place. Usually umpires wont give a pitcher like that the really close calls, but Mccullers has pretty much gotten them all. Makes it hard on the hitter because he is missing so bad half the pitches.
  13. Mendick makes slightly more sense because he is more versatile. Both of them really arent going to be relied on, but in case of an emergency Mendick can play a few more positions than Goodwin can.
  14. So I presume you agree that no one should tell anyone to not do drugs, wear a seat belt, drink and drive, have an abortion, beat their wife, etc. PERSONAL DECISIONS BABY!
  15. Thats like your opinion man. And youd think that all those anti-Trump people would have wanted his supporters to catch covid so that he would have gotten less votes. I mean if it wasnt for Covid killing 8 million Trump supporters, Trump would have absolutely beaten Biden.
  16. Guys like Troy Aikman who got their brains beat in year 1 and then went on to be great are the exception not the rule. Even Montana who played 16 games his first year only threw 23 passes.
  17. Personally I dont think there is anyway Arlington Heights can compete with walking around Chicago before and after a game. The main difference is that the Bears get $0 when I leave and spend my money elsewhere in the city. Its really just an unfortunate by product of the Friends of the Park. Had they been unsuccessful, Im pretty sure the city and Bears could have worked something out for the area around Soldier Field and McCormick. As it stands there is just to much risk in any agreement because there are some ultrawealthy people around that area who dont want anything to be built that could get in the way of their views of the lake.
  18. It took Rams years and they had the cash. Bears are going to be begging for money. Im not sure why people think the Bears have the capacity to do this.
  19. Problem with the teardown of McCormick East is that the rebuild could get caught in years of litigation. Due to the Friends of the Park Lawsuit there is absolutely nothing that the City can do with any certainty in that area besides for keeping beautiful parking lots. Its really a shame because that area is already developed and the city could use it in a variety of ways to make more revenue and help residents. Instead we are stuck with parking lots because those are beautiful and can be enjoyed by all Chicago residents.
  20. But the city decided that it was worth it to them to get a free billion dollar museum and so they negotiated the land lease for cheaper. The problem is that if you allow the argument to work, you can basically argue against the City doing anything with that land besides for keeping it a parking lot. If Lucas paid a billion for the lease it makes no difference to the argument that "the city cant develop its property because its on the lakefront." A similar situation occurred with the Children's Museum when they tried to put it in Grant Park. Uh no it isnt a stretch. The City owned the land they were never transferring ownership. And George Lucas has no more right than any other resident. If you want to build a billion dollar museum for free on that parking lot, you should have the opportunity to do it and the city should have the right to make the decision what they do with their land. No one was asking to develop beach or area that was unused, they were building in a foot print that already existed. Unfortunately there are a few ultra rich people who were going to have their lake front views obstructed and they had the millions to pay attorneys. And its why they cant do jack around that area right now. If Bezos wanted to tear down McCormick place and put a free museum of the best art in the world there, he arguably could not because it is building on the lake front. Which is why it was a legally meritless argument.
  21. Who was buying lakefront land? The City wasnt selling the parking lot, they were leasing the area so that it could be changed from a parking lot to a museum... Sometimes its important to know the facts before you make statements.
  22. A parking lot is a terrible use of public space. The parking lot was already "built". In no world is an empty parking lot better than a museum that will create jobs, bring money into the economy and make better use of public space. I guess youre a big parking lot guy.
  23. Lucas gave up and decided to build the museum in California because he wanted the museum to be finished before he died. It just creates uncertainty about the entire area. I personally think the lawsuit was insane, but for whatever reason the judge decided to entertain the crazies.
