  1. Usually one side sends a contract and then you start negotiating the terms. At least that is my experience.
  2. I really doubt it. Im not sure who is the one who drafts the agreement, I lean towards it being the agent. So its entirely possible the contract is completely drafted and the other clubs have already seen it weeks ago.
  3. id be shocked if they arent 90-95% done prior to the meetings. Everyone knew the framework the day FA started, its not hard to plug in the numbers.
  4. Its an entirely different meeting than the Sox. Yankees arent pitching on Machado on how they can be successful in the future, etc. Everyone already knows that about the Yankees. The meeting was likely nothing more than telling him in person what their offer is and hearing what he wants.
  5. He may just be spending the day with his wife. Who knows.
  6. Yeah that's why its conceivable someone told him something. Otherwise its just an odd random statement.
  7. If you want to be hopeful he could theoretically have a contact that is a minority owner and they have been informed what it would take to get him.
  8. Id expect it pretty quickly as well. Its hard to imagine that the agent doesn't have a good idea the likely offers of all teams.
  9. Ricky was hiding in the bushes waiting for the signal of whether Machado liked him or not.
  10. Well see. Im not sure there has ever been a law that was ruled constitutional, then amended for the benefit of Americans, only to then be found unconstitutional due to that amendment.
  11. Its year one. If they miss i expect them to go after fas next year or try to trade for big salry players.
  12. Man these hot takes are getting insane. It doesnt matter what you think of your brother in law, Alonso and Machado are close. The Sox tried to get Machado last year. Its not like they traded for him after Machado signed. 2 years ago barely anyone would have believed Sox would be in the hunt to get Machado or Harper, now it seems they are. Even if they miss you are talking about moonshot free agents on their first try. The expectation should be failure. How many teams miss out on top tier free agents every year, even the Red Sox and Yankees. All you can hope for is a chance and it seems for the first time in a long time the Sox have a chance. Times are a changing, no matter if they hit or miss.
  13. I found him but I didnt see any of the baseball stuff. I assume you matched his Twitter handle to his Instagram?
  14. I cant find Bour's agent. Seems little to no connection, but who knows. Maybe they have the same real estate agent.
  15. Right now I think there are less teams willing to give Harper $300+ mil than people think. I dont even know if the Sox would sign him without first seeing where they stand with Machado. My opinion with 0 sources is that Machado has multiple suitors who believe he is a better fit than Harper. Harper is now having to wait on teams decision with Machado. For Machado I think its the Philies, Yankees and Sox. For Harper, I think its the Sox and Phillies. Boras is putting on a show because the market isnt as hot as he wants it to be. But I think that he knows hell get 10/300 at minimum.
  16. This isnt the NBA. Unless Harper/Bryant are taking significant discounts there just arent many teams who can pay 70mil+ per year for 2 players. Also it would be a nightmare for Boras. Boras is both of their agents. His negotiating power would be extremely limited if you have to take both players. Also its not ideal for him to have 2 star fas in the same year. Its better for him that they are staggered. I get that they are friends, but with no max salary/no salary cap its just unlikely that they end up playing together on the same team in 3 years.
  17. Eh. Harper isnt what the Cubs need. They cant afford Harper and Bryant. Even with Harper they arent WS favorites next year.
  18. The comment doesnt even imply they are connected. Part 1: Cubs are receiving calls for Happ. (seems believable) Part 2: Cubs *could* potentially try and package with bad contract. (seems like purely speculation)
  19. I only want to discuss what all these sources know, because Im sure that all of these people are being given inside information on what likely is one of the largest professional contracts in history.
  20. I doubt that Harper's best friend knows every offer and who the top one is. Its possible, but its really unlikely. I just cant imagine Harper mass texting people "JUST GOT AN OFFER 12 years $424". Now I can believe Harper has told friends his preference or where he wants to play, but I doubt he goes into the details. Could be Britton.
