  1. Last year he hit .291, ops of 778. So its only been this year hes been really struggling.
  2. If Rios was killing it he wouldnt have been waived. It just seems like he has been a little off, but I think it will correct itself (might not be until next year.)
  3. Rios career hitting stats are better than Pods. Better average and better power. Pods has had bad years too.
  4. Yeah if Kotsay can come back cheap, I dont mind him.
  5. Frustrating part about Ramirez is that if he could work on his mental mistakes hed be a good SS.
  6. It was a straight steal. AJ either stumbled or second guessed himself which is why he was out.
  7. So in 2003 when Konerko sucked do you think we should have gotten rid of him? He hit .234, obp of .305, ops of .704 1 bad season doesnt make a career.
  8. Friday- Great America Saturday- College Football Sunday- BBQ Monday- Recovery
  9. Id love to see the BP link because 2.8 is drastically different than both Fangraphs and hardball times. Fangraphs: 5.5 Baseball Times: 5.5 BP: 2.8 One of those things just doesnt belong.
  10. Well according to Hard Ball Times your numbers are not accurate. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/blog_art...bout-alex-rios/ 2008 5.5 wins, 2007 4.6 wins, 2006 3.3 wins
  11. Rios has made me completely forget Brian Anderson. How many games has BA played for the Red Sox? 3 games, 6 ab, 3ks, 1 hit. Not losing any sleep.
  12. Konerko had much better OBP than Allen in the minors. Outside of the .413 put up in Reno, Allen's top obp was .372 Paulie had obp of .397 in AA, .407 in AAA. In AA he had 72 bbs to 85 ks. In AAA he had 64 bbs to 61 ks. Allens numbers have improved but there are some troubling stats about his eye. 06, 07 he had 22 bbs to 126ks and 39 bbs to 124ks. Last season between A and AA he had 60bbs to 124ks. This year he had 50bbs to 80ks (between AA and AAA). At Charlotte he had 0bb and 13k, so not sure how that shows a great eye. Outside of this year, he has about the same amount of ks as games played, meaning that in the minors he has averaged about 1k per game. (607 games, 588ks and 219bbs) In comparison, Konerko in 519 games had 319ks and 268 bbs. Unless you have some reason why Allen is going to drastically improve, it would be a complete statistical aberration for Allen to put up similar bb and k numbers as Konerko, as Allen never has produced even close to similar numbers.
  13. If CQ was hurting at all then its a different story. From what I can tell CQ's foot is fine, its his ability to hit fastballs that has been the problem.
  14. CQ needs work hitting as much as anyone right now. More time off isnt going to help him.
  15. Swisher was getting paid a ton more than Kotsay, and is rumored to have a bad attitude. (probably wouldnt translate well to bench player.) Kotsay seems like a good guy, has a decent swing and understands his role.
  16. Ill take Javy's 3.18 era with 17 quality starts, even if he doesnt pitch well in big games. You need to win games in the beginning of the season, so that the games at the end of the season are "big games". Javy won games this year for the Braves, without him they may not even be in the playoff hunt. /shrugs
  17. Konerko could DH. But I think the Sox also have Flowers and Viciedo as possible future 1B/DH candidates, not to mention Dye, CQ, etc all could DH. Ive heard that KW liked Pena, but I havent actually seen anything to back that up.
  18. Eh not really. The Cubs are in one of the weakest divisions in baseball and generally outspend the majority in excess of $20mil per season. There is absolutely no reason Cubs fans shouldnt think that they are NL Central contenders every year.
  19. Well its because usually a starter is more valuable than a bench player. So if KW believed that Pena was going to be the right handed set up man and replace Linebrink his value far exceeds that of a bench player. As for "filling a void for the next 6 years", I believe that the White Sox did not feel that Allen would ever be a suitable option for them at 1b. Since they felt he would never start, the White Sox valued Pena's ability to contribute today, over Allen's ability to contribute on the bench. I believe that the Sox felt that they already have options at 1b and DH, making Allen expendable. Furthermore, I believe that KW shopped Allen around to see what he could get, and that Pena was the best that was offered. I doubt there was some other team offering us the world for Allen.
  20. Depends on how good he thinks he is. If he thinks hes amazing then by going to the US he is 2 years closer to being an unrestricted free agent where he would make far more than $7.5mil per year. If he thinks hes going to bust after his first contract, might as well not have to pay $7.5mil.
  21. Yeah LA is going to risk $10mil on Thome being a pinch hitter. Not really thinking that article through at all.
