Freddy didnt look amazing, but he didnt look horrible either. He definitely could improve and Id rather have him than Count. -
Favre Signing with Vikings today

Chisox, If I was a Vikings fan I just would prefer a QB who is willing to accept his role on the team. I just think that no matter what Farve is going to be Farve, and that is going to come with a good amount of questionable decisions. I also am not sure how physically capable he is going to be, he is coming off of surgery and has not had a full camp to prepare. Maybe he will tear it up, the reality is that Sage and Tavaris are not exactly average qb's, I just think that the Vikings could have found a better solution that came with less baggage and distractions. -

I love when I bench a Sox player in fantasy and then they come through. If I knew it would always work id just lose in fantasy every year. -
Chisox, Im pretty sure service time starts when you are called up. (Im not 100% sure but my guess is the way that "service time" is defined is time on the 25 man roster.) Tex, Boras isnt doing anything, teams have just adjusted to his negotiation tactics. If you constantly push teams to the limit and piss them off, they are eventually going to stop giving into your demands. Some teams have refused to even negotiate with Boras, which limits the potential suitors for his clients.

What does the length of time matter, the real money is the bonus: He only got a $7.5 mil bonus, I would have expected 10mil bonus easily and another 10mil in contract. In fact the way that the contract is structured he most likely will end up as arb eligible the first year that this contract is done, or even worse if he stays in minors for 2 years hed be playing for league minimum in 2013.

The reason why Farve is a bad fit for the Vikings is because he has never been known for making good decisions and keeping the ball safe. If I was the Vikings Id rather have a QB who is going to be a great game manager and not force throws, than a QB who is going to try and make things happen. -
I wouldnt want Boras representing me. A monkey can negotiate for more money and I would bet that if Strasburg had a different agent (one with a better reputation) the Nationals may have gone up to $20mil. When you look at the crazy money thrown at Japanese players (Kei Igawa, etc and thats not even counting the money going to the former Japanese team) its hard to argue with Strasburg being given that type of money. The problem is that now when teams deal with Boras they are much more likely to draw a line in the sand and not move because to many people fell for his old tricks. I know that if I was a working for a MLB team I would be much more difficult with Boras than any other agent, just because of his tendency to stretch the truth.

What is your general feeling about the White Sox?
Soxbadger replied to striker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Im part of the 12 Hammerhead. I just cant see how anyone realistically expected this team to be better than .500 going into this season. Pitching: Sox had question marks at 4 and 5th spots in the rotation and were relying on Floyd and Danks to be plus pitchers. Offense: CQ coming off of an injury. Dye, Thome, Konerko each 1 year older. Questions at CF, 2b and 3b. Defense: Questions at 3b, SS, all outfield positions. The only reason the Sox are competitive is because: 1) Gordon Beckham. Barely anyone thought hed be playing on the team, let alone becoming a star. 2) Pods. No one thought hed do anything, let alone be in the running for the Sox comeback player of the year. 3) A few above average starts out of both Colon and Contreras. I for one didnt think wed get anything out of these two, any games they pitch are huge bonuses. Im not sure how realistically you could look at this team in April and say they are underachieving. I personally think they are overachieving most if not all of my expectations from the beginning of the season. -

I think that the White Sox are over achieving from my preseason expectation. The only reason I thought they may compete in the Central was because the other teams were just as flawed. -

Pods may have scored to runs, be he may have also cost 2 runs. Rios almost saved the game backing up Pods 2 different times. If you didnt notice when Pods missed horribly on the short fly, Rios was there to make the throw to second. Also when the ball went over Pods head, Rios was there to hold the runner at 2nd. Maybe look at the career stats of Rios, he hit almost .300 the last 3 seasons. Pods is hitting .300 this year, but your basically comparing a career year of Pods to the worst year of Rios. -

If the Sox win 2/3 of the rest of their games they will win the division. -

Sox always play terrible in Oakland. Itd have been great if the Sox won all 3, but 2 out of 3 is the next best scenario. -

I think Nix stays on if Crosby doesnt nudge him. But thats a crafty play by Crosby when the guy is already safe. And the steal was the right call. Pods v Bailey you are praying for a bloop single or something that Nix can score on. Its highly unlikely Pods gets an extra base hit there. -

Defense isnt contributing. So will the rest of the game be a home run derby? -

In slow motion he looked out, Nix still should have kept the tag on him though. -

How did Rios miss play that ball? LF was way closer as Rios was shaded to Right Field. If Rios doesnt back up the play it may go to the wall for a triple... -

The Sox got Rios because they needed defense, he is not supposed to be carrying our offense. His offensive stats should eventually normalize, but I also feel that this year could be like Konerko's 2003. For whatever reason he just cant make it work at the plate. As long as he goes out and catches the ball, Im fine with him hitting .250 or so this season. -

You mean like pinch hitting Wise for our best defensive outfielder in a 1 run game? -

For all the Rios bashing about his offense, its hard to count how many runs hes saved on defense. Its not just the plays he has made, but Im pretty sure they are playing Dye closer to the RF line because Rios can cover more ground in the middle. I believe at least 2 balls down the line that JD barely got to would have fallen with our previous defensive alignments. -

I wonder what people would have said if Kotsay grounded into a double play. Marshall looked good, the Sox had an opportunity to score a run on a sacrifice fly and it didnt happen. -

AJ hit a line drive, those dont get knocked down by the wind as much as high fly balls. From what Ive seen Rios stroke looks fine, he just seems to have no luck with where the ball is going at the moment. Id guess that once he becomes more accustomed to being on the Sox (and playing cf full time) his average will start to go up. -

Kotsay has really been a pleasant addition. Solid defensively and most at bats he looks good. -
I would be down for a 2010 online madden franchise league for PS3.
