I just dont get what your argument is. What does it matter if Soccer isnt the #1 sport in the US? -
Official Soccer Thread
Soxbadger replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
For being soccer challenged the US national team has done pretty well lately. I believe that I watched them beat Spain and that their B/C team is in the Concacaf final. You can say the US is "retarded for not liking soccer", but I dont really think that statement has any basis in fact. Its that the MLS is not the best league in the world, and US fans are not going to shell out money to see the equivalent of minor league soccer. As the teams get better as the US national team gets better, things will change, but right now the US is barely a top 10 team in soccer, whereas in most other major US sports they are easily top 5 in the world (Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey) with the US leagues generally being considered the top league. So my question is should every team that doesnt do as well as the US, also be banned from talking about soccer? Since 1990 the US has made every World Cup, reaching the quarterfinals in 2002. They have won CONCACAF tournaments, they finished 2nd in the Confederations Cup. So maybe they arent one of the 7 teams to win a World Cup, but if only those 7 countries can talk about soccer, then why are you in this thread? Your not Brazilian, Italian, German, Argentinian, Uruguian, French or English. US soccer is growing whether you want to admit it or not. They may not be the best team yet, but they have a good chance of becoming one of the better teams over time. -
So would the Little Mermaid ride be something like the old 20,000 Leagues? I havent been to Disney World in forever, I went to Land 5 years ago. But when I was young I went to Disney World 6 or 7 years in a row.

So I guess there was some sort of baseball game today? -
Im so sick of the line of argument that Anderson got a raw deal. He was the White Sox first pick, 15th over all. The White Sox gave him every chance to be the starter, most likely dealing Rowand because they thought that they had Anderson ready to take over. In 2006 he was the opening day starter, he played 134 games and had 405 PA and hit .225 for a team that won 90+ games. The White Sox cleared the way for him to be the starter, he cant blame anyone but himself. The Sox have been looking for a starting CF since the Rowand trade, if BA had anything to offer on a consistent basis he would have easily won the job. There is no BA conspiracy, he is a KW pick, he just has so far not performed like many other Sox draft picks.

Goodell moves draft to Thursday, makes it 3 days
Soxbadger replied to lostfan's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This is getting ridiculous. The draft should be Saturday/Sunday, its 2 great days of football. -
I think many fans have always felt negatively about Javy because the Sox traded THE Chris Young for him and the expectations for 2006 were so great. For a player like Javy who has a tendency to have 1 bad inning or 1 bad stretch, moving to the NL is huge because the pitcher can be an automatic out and rally killer.

Black Jack McDowell on tonight's loss and closers
Soxbadger replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I usually dont like the way that Ozzie handles the pen, but you win and lose with your best. If Jenks is no longer our best option in the 9th inning up 1, then we have significant issues for the rest of the season. -
Was this supposed to be in green? Soxtalk is home to the BA fanboy club.

You can search tickets by license plate number I believe. I havent heard of anyone having much success fighting a red light ticket. In the end I paid mine.
-
You just never gave him a chance even when he was the flavor of the month!
-
I feel like less people were pissed that we traded Lee because he didnt slide hard into second.
-
No just some people are implying that Anderson hasnt been given a "fair chance" etc. If he hit .300 ever year Ozzie doesnt care about his attitude. Hes hitting .200 and my guess is that Kenny doesnt want to admit that a lot of his first round picks have been massive busts. We can spin it however people want, but there have been very few if any rumors about people wanting to trade for Anderson. If he was such a talent teams would notice that he was getting screwed and try and pick him up. Some of these comments are just off the wall. Its just Brian Anderson.
-
Your right there is a conspiracy against a former 1st round draft pick because it makes Kenny look really good that BA hasnt panned out.
-
I really doubt any other organization would be as patient with Anderson as the Sox were. If he was such a hot commodity why arent teams beating down the door to trade for him? He was a first rounder and had promise, but nothing suggests that hell ever be more than a defensive replacement (if he can hit lefties more consistently which is a real problem for a rh bat off the bench.)

No I said that Ozzie must think Wise has more heart. I have never met either Anderson or Wise, so I really couldnt judge them at all. -

Where have I said a positive word about Wise? Why cant you understand I dont care about Wise or Anderson. Im just so sick of the over exaggerations, Ive been posting on this site for 7.5 years, it takes something really remarkable to get me pissed. And I just cant stand to hear about how Brian Anderson got screwed one more time. He was a 1st round draft pick, there is no reason why Kenny would want him to fail. They have given him many chances and he has never proven to be an every day player. He had an option left and for whatever reason they feel the best move is to send down Anderson. At the end of the day I know Kenny and Ozzie want to win as much as I do. They may make bad decisions (we all do), but they are making them to win. So if they think sending down Brian Anderson who has done nothing is the better move, I defer to their damn judgment. Just so tired of hearing all the damn experts on this site who know so much (GAVIN FLOYD HATERS I WILL NEVER FORGET). -

I guess there may be some people out there who cant measure how much heart a player or person has. I believe it is one of the easiest qualities you can tell when you actually meet them. /shrugs -

Soriano has no heart because he refuses to do what is best for his team. Being clutch is different than heart. Heart is about sacrificing everything so that your team can win, and some times that means batting in a place in the order you might not want to. -

Im not defending Wise, Im just so damn sick of hearing about Brian Anderson and every other player who the majority of this board seem to fall in love with for no explicable reason, and then constantly hearing b****ing and moaning about what has happened to that player. I wanted Anderson to have a chance, but at the end of the day he got plenty of chances and he is meh. If I had to bet my last $50 on Wise getting a hit or Anderson, I put it on Wise. If as a manager I cant trust where Anderson's head is at, I dont care if hes a better fielder, I am not going to take a risk on a sub being a malcontent. He should be f***ing happy to be in the majors and should be busting his ass every day regardless. If he is amazing when he gets sent down to AAA hell kill the ball and make the Sox look silly. Do I really think that is going to happen? I dont know, I hope it does because it only helps the Sox. I think that Ozzie feels Wise has more heart than Anderson. And quite frankly Im not so sure when Im choosing the last player on my team and they both are below average, I might choose the one who had the most heart. Im just sick of hearing it about it is all. 1 person said that this was the worst move of the KW era. Its time to move on. -

If your marginal at your job and you have a s***ty attitude, your not going to stick around. I dont know why people cant seem to grasp that Anderson must have been a complete tool. Or I guess the alternative that Ozzie for no explainable reason dislikes BA and is sabotaging his own team just to kill Anderson's career. Im going to guess the former as opposed to the later.
