I really wouldnt even be that concerned about a NTC. The reason? He would have already agreed once to waive his NTC to go some where in the AL. If the Sox were going to potentially trade him in the future, it would probably be to the NL, where he wants to be. No real concern in my eyes.
-
Probably wants Kevin Brown stuff like use of private plane etc. At this point your either in or your out (if youre the Sox). The biggest concern should be talent, money is an issue but if you can afford him this year and the next, you do it and let everything else work itself out. As people have said the Sox have a lot of salary that will come off the books during his contract.
-
Personally I think the Sox probably knew that the option had to be picked up. And they are just trying it without the option first, so that they then could "tempt" him with the option. Even though from the beginning they were fine with the option. It just makes no sense to go this far without being fully committed.
-
If its purely about money I think the Sox are tempted by it. 2013 is 4 years away, by then most of their big contracts will be off the books. They will have plenty of time to structure their payroll around Peavy's salary. But thats just how I think.
-
Maybe he needs to make sure he can get a loan to buy a new house in Chicago? (haha)
-
It was actually getting on my nerves too. Just give him the damn option and split it with the Pads, we all win.
-
As I said before, the longer it goes on, the more likely it is to get done. If Peavy didnt want to go to the AL and there was no chance hed come to the Sox, hed say no immediately, he wouldnt need to discuss it or think about it. There is no reason for him to think it over, unless its about the option year. And if thats the case then SD and Sox should go Solomon on it and just split the baby. Sox on the hook for half, Pads on the hook for Half (of the option). Pads get him off their books, Sox dont have to worry about a crazy option salary, Peavy gets more money. Everyone wins, I hope they think of this.
-
The longer it goes on, the more likely I think it is that Peavy accepts the deal. First instinct is to resist change (unless you hate the situation). But as time goes on I think Peavy will start to realize that if its not the Sox it will be some other team. Last year if the Sox had Peavy who knows what happens.
-
As some one else said, Peavy can always be traded back to the NL. The Padres probably are trying not to trade him at least in their division, if the he really hates the AL, the Sox could always try and send him to the Dodgers or Giants, teams with a lot of young talent but who the Padres probably wont deal with.
-
Damn you Peavy just accept the deal, you can always be traded again if you hate the AL.

Yeah I bought my ps3 almost 2 years ago (2 in August) and even though it was expensive when I think about how many hours you can play it, its not really that bad. Going to the movies for 2 hours can cost $20, so if you play your PS3 200 hours a year that comes down to like $5 an hour, which isnt bad for entertainment. Not to mention 200 hours is not that much time.
-
Not all of them can from what Ive read. The one I own can, which is was one of the reasons I bought a PS3.

I understand, I obviously dont have a problem with people who chose not to have abortions. I understand that potential life is valuable, but sperm/eggs are potential life too and I think the easiest place to draw the line is where does it become "alive". Historically there were ideas such as the "quickening" etc, but with modern science I think that we should use a standard of when can it survive. It also makes it so that as science progresses the amount of time to have an abortion should decrease as they will be able to survive earlier and earlier without their mother. Perhaps there will even become a time where instead of an abortions the fetus is removed but kept alive. That way both the mother and fetus have rights. But we arent there yet, we are limited by our capabilities.
-
Well for some its a hard decision, others not so much (like me). At the moment something can survive on its own, it is alive and therefore has a right to be protected. But as long as it is entirely dependent on another being for life, that being can decide whether or not it wants to support that life form. (Now some people would argue that children can not survive on their own and therefore parents should be able to kill their children, but, my definition of survival is based on a beings ability to independently breathe and sustain itself, which a child can do.)

Your accusations that people dont care because they are "brown" are entirely inaccurate. And I dont really think you are an "elitist/stuck-up college kid". I think you are TRYING TO BE an "elitist/stuck-up college kid", the problem is you dont have the street cred to pull it off. Im not going to get into it, but acting like a know it all, doesnt mean you know it all. If you did, you wouldnt be in college getting an undergraduate degree.

Floyd's arm may also be tired from going over 200 ip last year. For some reason I feel that many pitchers seem to have a down year after they go over 200 ip for the first time in a ML season. Danks went 195, so his arm may be tired as well.

Overall I think its been a pretty good show and hate that I have to wait months for another episode.

If you look back to my comments on the episode, 316 about Locke, youll see some stuff about biblical Jacob (along with other interesting bible passages as compared to Lost). As to this episode, I am starting to get the feeling that there is Jacob (who sees the good in people and allows them choice) and unnamed who appears to have lost faith in people. I believe that the person who has lost faith is a representation of the island, which goes back to the original struggle of the people versus the island (smoke monster, ghosts who try and make people run off cliffs, etc). What is interesting is the comment: Once Jacob is dead, things will change. At the same time Jacob is dieing, the atomic weapon is being set off. Perhaps some of the changes are not going to be exactly what Locke had imagined, especially in that it appears there are other Jacob supporters. Perhaps it was necessary for Jacob to martyr himself, who knows. There is a lot of information and hints (such as Abaddon) that there has to be some sort of connection to judeo/christian religion, but then again this episode had Egyptian undertones, to the point where I believe it suggested that Jacob was himself once Egyptian (hence why he was able to use the loon). Im not exactly sure where its going, I dont think that they are going to do the other guy was Esau though.

I also have never seen a Star Trek movie or tv show of any kind, but am planning on seeing this one.

It was just a ratings ploy. There is no connection to Ted getting married except for the fact that if he hadnt of met her that day he wouldnt of really gotten over her. At least thats my interpretation. House was crazy.

Well that Quentin guy only hit .253 and then .214 before coming to the Sox. But Walker ruined him last year. -

For all the people hating on Walker, what players have left the Sox to then become amazing offensive stars? Maggs and Lee both produced well here, but what guys just did so much better when they werent coached by Walker? Did CQ suck last year? Cause you have to give a coach credit for things if your going to blame him also. -

Kane singlehandedly scores that goal. And Hawks have been really sloppy in their transition, which is sad because they have had many more offensive opportunities than the Canucks. Also on Havlats turnover he goes to the bench for a line change instead of getting back on defense. -
Youve used a lot of generalizations in the last two posts. I doubt that you can find one instance where ive done any of the things mentioned. The point of the piece (imo) was to try and make Obama out to be an elitist. Once again, I have never watched this show, so do they generally do "humor" or "satire"? Because I thought it was a real news show, but now im being told its like The Daley Show or The Colbert report, which are not real news shows.
