  1. Well I think that Cutler is far more valuable than Ocho Cinco. How much do you think teams would pay for Larry Fitzgerald? You have to take into consideration that Ocho is 30 years old and had injury questions. The fact that he was worth 2 first rounders should show just how great of a deal this was for the Bears. For an extra third rounder they go from Chad Johnson to a young franchise QB who is under contract for 3 years? You have a lot of faith in Josh McDaniels and the "system". Me not so much. We will see what happens, but Belicheck didnt do so well in his first stint.
  2. I think teams would trade 2 firsts and 2 seconds for a young franchise qb who they feel could lead their team for 7+ years. If the Redskins had the bullets (more draft picks) its likely that they would have offered more than the Bears. Do you think Cutler today is worth more than Eli Manning was coming out of college? Because the Giants gave up a top 5 pick along with another 1st and a third, the top 5 pick on some draft value charts is worth 2x more than the Bears pick.
  3. So if the Bears didnt want Forte and traded him for a 5th rounder the Bears "win the trade easily" just because they didnt want him? McDaniels screwed up, if he doesnt mess around there is no way Cutler is traded for anything less than 2 firsts and 2 seconds. The market for Qb's has been set, and its always been at least 2 first round picks (generally one is top 5) and at least another first day pick. The Bears gave up a mid first round pick an unknown first and a third. How is that not great value?
  4. The Broncos got less then market value. McDaniels youth and inexperience cost the Broncos when he tried to trade for Cassel and it fell through. He is a 31 year old coach, he has no NFL experience, as soon as he started a rift with Cutler there was no way that they could work together. McDaniels has nothing he can hang his hat on, and he may become the greatest NFL coach, but right now he cost his team. Its fine if you want to bring in your own guys, but you cant alienate arguably the best player on your team unless you are 100% sure they are gone. The Broncos may draft 3 Pro-Bowl players, but right now its hard to say how the Bears overpaid.
  5. How can you say Denver "easily won this deal" when the Bears paid less for Cutler than the Giants did for a rookie Eli? They only got two firsts and a third. Compare how much the Cowboys received for Herschel Walker. 3 firsts, 3 seconds, 1 third. Denver should have gotten more.
  6. There is actually earlier discussion around March 1 in the NFL off season thread. I think you (rangercal) said to offer a 1st and a 2nd, Murcie said to offer whatever it takes. Its just strange that a month later it actually happened.
  7. Im actually fine with the price tag, its even a little less than I thought Broncos would get. I thought they could probably get a 1 and 2 this year plus a 1 next year from some team (not necessarily the Bears.) Cutler is young but far more proven than any QB you could draft. When you think about how much teams have paid to get Vick or Eli, its really what the market has been set at. Giants gave 2004 1st and 3rd round, plus 2005 1st and 5th round, to move up 3 spots to select Manning at 1. The Falcons traded their 2001 1st (5th over all) and 3rd, along with 2002 2nd and Tim Dwight, to move from 5th to 1st. The Bears trade is about on par with this, especially when you consider that; 1) Bears first draft pick is significantly lower than top 5 (the other trades all included top 5 picks) and 2) Jay Cutler has already proven that he is a capable NFL starter. The value is good for the Bears, the Broncos had to give up a 3rd rounder just to trade up from 15 to 11 to get Cutler. I can remember when this whole rift started and I thought that the Broncos would be forced to trade Cutler. Glad it happened.
  8. There is something about the US defense that always keeps me on edge. Even when they are far more talented they still seem to give up a few great opportunities. US should be up more with the missed chances, I really like Altidore, I feel he completely changes the complexion of the US team. US really needs a facilitator for their offense, I know Donovan is supposed to play that role but he just has way to many bad touches.
  9. The problem with the streets has nothing to do with the want or ability to fix them, but instead is based on science. Chicago has hot and cold weather. When the weather is warm, we have rain. When the weather is cold, we have snow. When it rains, small water molecules get into the cracks in asphalt. When it freezes those molecules expand, as the water expands it causes small cracks in the asphalt. When the water molecules melt small holes are left in the street. If you repeat this process over and over again, you begin to see bigger and bigger cracks, eventually resulting in large pot holes. If you could invent something to stop this process, you would be rich. The city has hundreds of other problems it could be using its workers on. Where did you get this information? Ive heard numerous interviews with IOC members who say proximity to recent Olympics does matter. Also this would be the first Olympics in the US since Utah and the first summer Olympics since Atlanta. It would be 14 years since Utah and 22 years since Atlanta. If you were to compare how often the US had Olympics since 1945, it is pretty clear that the US is getting either the 2016, 2018 or 2020 games. Since 1960, the US has never gone over 20 years without an Olympics. The fact is US corporate sponsors are put in a lot of money, and the Olympic committee is not going to forget that.
  10. Alex Brown is one of the Bears most underrated players. Playing DE is also about stopping the run and taking care of your responsibilities (cutback). Mark Anderson may have had a ton of sacks, but when they started him he gave up way to many huge runs on cutbacks. He deflects passes, etc. For his price tag he is a pretty good deal.

    LOST!!!!

Many times people post things that dont get responded to. Its for a variety of different reasons. The reason I didnt respond to your post is that I tried to look up information on Farraday and the picture you were referencing, but I couldnt find it online. Its an interesting theory, its just I dont think many people really remember whether the picture appeared to older than it should have been.
  12. Think about how much was paid for Kei Igawa. Id rather have Strasbourg.
  13. A lot of people feel that Bennett will one day be the head coach of Wisconsin when Bo Ryan retires.
  14. I hate the way the US plays offensively. The last 20 minutes is how they should be playing the entire game. Altidore needs to play more.
  15. Another difference between OSU and Memphis is that OSU plays a much more difficult in conference schedule/ conference tournament. By the time those players were in the NCAA tournament they had already played a lot of tough teams and were much more battle tested then Memphis. The biggest problem with a weak conference is it doesnt necessarily prepare them for top level teams.

I think there is a person in the room with Christian. My guess is its Claire as the last time we saw her she was with him. For some reason it looks like she is holding a dog?

Theres no information as to why Whidmore would have known the location in 2007, but did not know of it in 2005. Its not proof, but thats why I said "I believe" and then said "there is a chance". And I regardless of the results of Ben, I still believe that things can be changed.

Even if Ben is dead, it doesnt mean that he cant be on the island. Horace is presumably dead and he is on the island chopping a tree over and over again. Christian is dead and he is on the island. Locke is dead and he is on the island. Im just very hesitant to believe any "rules" as weve been told that if you move the island you cant return, Ben moved the island and was able to return. Perhaps this is the consequence of him returning.

You can change the past, I believe its been done before. When Ben moves the island and appears in Tunisia there is no camera at the location. When Locke goes back in time and sees Whidmore, then moves the island, there is a camera at the location. Now there is a slight chance that Whidmore decided to build the camera after Ben left but before Locke did, otherwise the future can be changed. My guess is that the reason that they are saying "You cant change the past" is the effect that takes place in the Simpsons' "Time and Punishment" episode. Once Homer has changed the past, he could never return to his future. Any future that he returned to would be different from the one that he originally knew. Thus, I think that they are telling people you cant change the past to prevent people from attempting too.
