  1. All the random ER talk made it necessary for me to catch up on this season. Its been quality.
  2. And that goes back to my first post that I dont think the BPA will jive with what the Bears need. I cant see them drafting a DE very high when they have Alex Brown, O-Gun and Mark Anderson. I almost wouldnt mind seeing them trade down a few spots if it meant that theyd get Hicks.
  3. I guess that depends on what you think the Bears "needs" are. I think the Bears biggest need is offensive line, specifically tackle and I dont believe that any of the top tackles will be available at the first pick. Cornerback is a position I think that they may be able to get a Vontae Davis at in the first. I dont know right now, I just always have a negative feeling about what the Bears are going to do on draft day.
  4. With Nicks running a 4.49 its very unlikely he will be available at the Bears 2nd round pick. As the draft seems to breaking down most of the Bears needs wont be the BPA at their picks.
  5. Cayce is really an interesting figure. The finding of the Bimini Road really made people look at his predictions again.
  6. Id love for Atlantis to be found, but I think that the island of Santorini is most likely what Plato was referring to.
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3920394 This is going to be an interesting trial, if I was the govt I would be nervous.

    LOST!!!!

John will be resurrected. You dont just accidentally use 3:16. And on that note, the first flight was 815. Which could be a reference to Romans 8:15. Im pretty sure that the use of "Jacob" is an old testament reference, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob. An even further break down using the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42: Matthew 4:8 John 15: 16: Luke 23: 42: This would actually be in biblical order of the books with only Mark being left out. Not to say that there is any legitimacy to these ideas, but its just something ive been wrestling with for a while now. I had thought some of the references had biblical connotations, it just seems that now its becoming much more apparent.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  10. I dont see how you can say Selig's hands were tied. Did Selig ever go to the FBI and DEA and tell them that there is a significant drug problem that should be investigated? Look at Phelps, he smokes one bong and a sheriff wants to arrest him. Then look at baseball, people are shooting needles in the locker room and no one says a word. The Players Union may have power through the CBA, but they have no power when it comes to federal or state law enforcement. If a player like Canseco was arrested in the locker room injecting steroids this era would have ended immediately. The only way for players to have gotten away with it for so long was Selig helping them. And if we are rewriting record books, why do players who doctor baseballs and cheat other ways get a pardon?
  11. Well OSU isnt a very good team because they couldnt beat Wisconsin on a day when Wisconsin shot under 36%. If your best shooter goes 1-8 from 3, you shouldnt win. If your team shoots 4-18 from 3, you shouldnt win. If your team shoots 55.3% you should win. So once again if Wisconsin isnt a very good team, OSU is a horrible team. Because if Wisconsin even comes close to its averages 36% from 3, yesterdays game is a blow out. OSU turned the ball over 19 times and were out rebounded by 10. OSU should be thankful that Bohannon's last 5 games he went 15/21 from 3, so he was due to miss a few last night. A win is a win, some times you dont have your best stuff, but you fight and scrap to win. (Edit) And Turner is awesome, can only imagine how he would of looked as a 2 guard for Wisconsin.

I meant did we ever see who the patient was, or has he just been referred to? I think the story was the patient heard a transmission when he was on a boat off Australia or something and it was just repeating the numbers.

    LOST!!!!

Have we ever seen the guy who Hurley got the numbers from? I just cant recall all of the early plot lines as the story arc has gone away from a lot of the beginning mysteries.
  14. I thought it was common knowledge that Obama knew in advance all the questions. At least thats what Ive been telling people. No way would any President get on national tv and let the press ask whatever they want. "President Obama, care to comment on this picture taken at a Frat Party when you were in College?" Right now we are witnessing a magic show (itd be the same if McCain was President), no one has any really revolutionary ideas about how to fix things or how to start the economic rebound, so they put on a show to distract American's focus. Im just not sure how basing an economic recovery around FDR principles (expand infrastructure spending) is going to work, when most people believe that FDR's plans were little more than window dressing. It wasnt until the US entered WWII and started to massively increase production while at the same time decreasing the work force (soldiers being drafted into the army decreases supply of workers) that the US economy recovered. Not to mention that due to World War II the industrial infrastructure of Europe was basically destroyed so demand for US industry also increased. The problems of today arent going to be solved by the solutions of the past. We need a govt that is going to look outside of the box to find new revenue streams, because historically countries that were the biggest industrial producers have constantly been knocked off by countries that industrialized later. England was knocked off by the US, US gets knocked off by China and one day China will get knocked off by some one else. Without drastically changing minimum wage etc, the US will never be able to compete with China in production. The cost is just much higher in the US. Thus the US needs to find new revenue sources or needs to find ways to cut the budget. In my opinion the easiest solution, which both will increase revenue and cut budget, would be to legalize many "moral" crimes.
  15. If baseball and the Fed keep dicking these players around eventually the public will start to support the players.

    LOST!!!!

Of note, the French men who went into the hole called it "the temple" and said it was a "security system." From what we have seen that appears to be true. The one thing that has never really been mentioned but was important early on in the show was the "lists" of people.
  17. Even if they are legal (im not sure and its not really relevant to the argument) it does not change that its an issue of fact. Police officers are allowed to arrest people, but if they go to far into police brutality they are no longer protected by the law. If I allege that the Police Officers beat me down for no reason, it doesnt matter that they could legally arrest me, it matters what the facts are. On a Summary Judgment, the facts have to be taken in a light most favorable to the non-moving party (in this case Plaintiff). Thus the court has to take it for fact everything the Plaintiff said, so if they said: "The rancher broke my nose with a rifle" its deemed true. Thats why it was not dismissed, because there are issues of fact.
  18. It could be just to push Alomar into settling, or they threatened if you dont settle we will allege a bunch of things. There really is no duty for the attorney to make sure that the allegations his client says are true. His client says its true, he basis his complaint on her allegations. Now its up to the Defense to prove its not true. This happens all the time, Company A says that when they agreed to something Company B said X, and sues Company B for not doing X. Company B says "We have no idea what you are talking about."
  19. The only sense Harvin would make is if the Bears were going to use him as both a change of pace back to Forte and wr. But still Id rather not take Harvin at all.
  20. These arguments are all over the place. $32 million in damages is what the Plaintiff alleged. That does not mean the court will award them the money, it doesnt even mean if it goes to trial they will win. Ive had a case where the Plaintiff was suing for a $1,500 security deposit. The attorney claimed $25,000 for lost economic opportunity and a bunch of other nonsense. Some attorneys will allege a crazy amount of damages so that if they negotiate for settlement they can use the $32 mil as a number to come down from. So in cases where the numbers are hard to figure out (emotional stress etc) many attorneys will just put down a huge number knowing that theyll never get close. The bottom line is that if the govt wanted to allow this behavior they could write a law to make it illegal. As of now, it does not appear to be legal. Thats the great part about our system, you can change the law. So instead of complaining about "liberal judges", you should complain about the laws as they are written.
  21. I can see it being useful in very limited circumstances. (Law firms joining the program and then being able to send notices via this system instead of mail.) But other than that, it seems useless to normal people.
  22. Must be a slap on the wrist (imo). Also I wonder if leaving the Orioles made it so Tejada no longer had Angelos law firm in his corner. Cause I swear when Palmeiro was being investigated Angelos made it clear that he would protect Raffy.
  23. People will start to hear about teams and "bankruptcy". A team will not pay its players or will write bad checks.
  24. The law is clear, you can not enter summary judgment unless there is no possible way for the Plaintiff to recover or there are no facts in dispute. As soon as its an issue of fact it goes beyond summary judgment. Does the Defendant have a legal argument for what he did? Perhaps, but its dependent on facts and the facts have to be taken in a "light most favorable to the Plaintiff" which means all allegations are deemed true. The only way you can win this early is by a legal argument.
