Voted, no line but thankfully my apartment building is my polling place so just went down 3 more floors to vote. Voted Obama and the rest of the ballot basically voted for itself. I voted no to both constitutional convention and to recall process.

Official 2008-2009 College Basketball Thread

Because those are the classes that were exiting... This will be the first time in Wisconsin history that at every level (Senior, Junior, Soph, Frosh) there are at least 2 4 star recruits. I know thats not much for some teams, but 8 4* recruits being on Wisconsin at one time is huge jump in talent compared to the past. -
Anyone else get an email saying that they would be receiving tickets tonight for tomorrow's performance.

I dont think your getting the point Im making. Prior to 2004, Wisconsin was lucky to get 1 4 star recruit and 1 3 star recruit. Since 2005 Wisconsin has gotten at least 2 4 star recruits in every class. Thats a vast improvement for them, its basically doubling the amount of talent the system was getting every year. Now they arent a recruiting power house, but they also arent relying on walk ons to play valuable minutes either. [Edit] All that depends on what recruiting service you look at , Scout has them with consistent 4s, Rivals has many of them as 3s. -

Well Rock: 2003: 1 5 star, 1 3 star juco 2004: 1 4 star, 2 3 star 2005: 2 4 star, 1 3 star 2006: 2 4 star, 1 3 star 2007: 2 4 star, 1 3 star 2008: 2 4 star, 2 3 star As you can see since 2003 Wisconsin has gone from 2 impact recruits to now they got 4 in 2008. Maybe they arent flashy OSU prospects, but at the same time Wisconsin went 16-2 last year in Big 10, 13-3 the year before. Those were the senior classes of the 2003, 2004 classes. Now every class has 2 4 star players, so for Wisconsin its pretty good. -

Media Bias: Perceived or Real? To what extent, and where?
Soxbadger replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
Thats just how liberal CNN is. They wont even take Obama's money when he wants to give it to them, instead they just ran crappy programing making sure that Obama didnt have to spend extra money on their station and still had the monopoly on all the good stations. Meanwhile they are further hurting the Republican party because they are letting them speak to liberals who hate god, when they could be on a real channel getting their message across to good Americans. Finally the proof Ive been looking for! -

Wisconsin may be a tad underrated, they lost Butch and Steisma but are going to get more athletic and have been getting higher level recruits each year. Im thinking 15 is more appropriate as Id take them over MU right now. -

2008 World Series - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Soxbadger replied to knightni's topic in The Diamond Club
What is strange is that for all the talent the Sox got from the Phillies over the last few years, not one player the Sox gave up had an impact in this World Series... Almost like they won despite the fact they gave up Gio, Floyd, Thome. -

Tampa is just trying to give this game away. I guess they are saving Price for game 6. -

Gotta be happy for Baldelli he has gone through a lot. I thought he jammed himself, but he got it. -
I would have spent it on one huge national buy that is going to be seen in all of the states you mentioned, plus some other states that still are within statistical error and could still swing the other way. If he buys the spot after Obama, he gets the last word and imo that could have a pretty devastating effect. If you noticed McCain did buy a small spot right before the WS, but I doubt that it was on all channels at the same time. As for the documentary it was a "cult of personality" piece.
-
Killing it as in doing well. I mean at this point the cult of personality for Obama is just taking over. Just the way this came off was really smooth. It could have come off as arrogant or ostentatious, but the way that they did it as a narrative of "normal" Americans made it come off really well (imo of course.) McCain should have spent every last penny buying the slot at 7:30, getting the last word after that would have been huge.

15 minutes in, my opinion is Obama is killing it.

It really depends on what the Republican brand wants to become. If they want to move towards being economically conservative while being socially moderate, Palin is done and the Republican party will come back strong. If they want to move away towards economic conservative thought while moving their party more socially conservative, then Palin will become powerful and the Republican's are going to struggle to gain back congress as most of America I believe will reject social conservative thought. I personally think if the Republican's get hammered this election that Palin will be done and that they are going to start distancing themselves from the Christian Right. But thats speculation.

Dropping incentives is impossible because parts of our entire legal and property system are based on marriage. From insurance beneficiaries, to intestate, to property ownership, to visitation rights, to access to information, to marriage simplifies the system by having a de facto answer. The wife gets a de facto share of the property, the wife gets a de facto say. It also can hurt in terms of family expense act, the wife or husband would be liable for the actions of the other party if it benefits the family. The simplest answer (imo) is to give everyone the same rights regardless of race, religion, sexual preference. If man and woman get X, then everyone should get X.

The light argument imo is pretty bogus. For all you know the lights are some sort of apparatus that creates propulsion. How many Rocket ships have you seen on earth that have absolutely no propulsion system (0). In fact the entire propulsion system of the rocket is based on burning fuel and it creates a magnificent spectacle of light that is very bright. If these are real UFO's it is clear that they are using some sort of other propulsion system, therefore its very hard to start putting Earth restrictions on what they are doing. The lights may also be some sort of communication similar to what ships at sea used in terms of flags on a mast. There are just a million scenarios.

I think Heroes has been good and I liked Monday's episode (although I knew it was going to leave more questions than answers.) Bottom line I dont care what the pundits say, Heroes has been worth watching. Now has anyone else been watching "True Blood" on HBO? I missed the first few episodes but stumbled onto it one night while flipping channels. I watched a minute or 2 and decided I needed to start from the beginning. I watched them on demand a few weeks back and can say that I have not been disappointed. So anyone that likes vampire movies/books/tv should strongly consider sinking their teeth into True Blood. That pun was intended because as youll find out in the show at one point puns were considered one of the highest forms of comedy to vampires.

So I was at the Illinois State building (69 W. Washington) where they have early voting in the basement, there were long lines. It was pretty interesting to see just how many people seem to be voting early, I think voter turnout may be really high this year.
