  1. Im not really worried, just discussing how I think the best way for Carter to progress is. The reason I want Carter taking shots is because he isnt as offensive minded as some rookies and I worry that when Lauri and others come back he may become even more passive. Now is the time for him to get his shots Parkers +/- and other advanced states are bad, but my eyes seem to tell me otherwise. The problem is that he doesnt seem to be worth $20mil a year. Julius Randle is making around $9mil, and it seemed like Parker was better than him last night. I just dont know if Parker would settle for a $10mil a year deal. From the Bulls perspective I just dont see how you can keep Portis, Parker and Feliciano next year.
  2. It was his kid not the employee. The employee didnt realize his kid would want to become internet famous.
  3. The thought process is so backwards its really not worth trying to convincing him at this point. Harper has never been a FA before. This may be his one big FA signing. Why wouldnt you do everything to make the best case to sign.
  4. Things like this make people emotional, its understandable. Its part of life. When something like this happens, people need an outlet a place to vent. So sometimes discussions get heated, they get angry, they devolve. But the hope is that through that, people dont let their anger and emotions boil up and become a worse situation. That is why sometimes its good to have an outlet. A lot of people dont feel like their voice is being heard. At least this place offered somewhere that you could hear the other sides point of view. I mean sometimes when Im bored Ill read Breitbart or Yahoo news comments, but I dont believe for a second I could have a meaningful conversation.
  5. Welp guys its over. Why even try? What is the point? What else do the Sox have better to do right now than try and go after free agents? What else should they be spending their time on?
  6. I mean the chance may be slight. But the market for Haper/Machado seems strange this year. If the reports are true that Nationals only offered 10 year $300mil no opt out, that really does mean that the Sox could make a much better offer. I think when you are a team that has lost recently, you need to give a pitch. You need to show the player that he is part of a bigger plan.
  7. Maybe but what is the point of bringing up concealed carry when its already legal in California?
  8. Im pretty sure the Jordan statute is now inside with the new renovations.
  9. Do I think it means something to show him that they are going to do everything in their power to maximize his exposure and make him the most money possible through endorsements etc? Yes. Do I think it means something that they show Harper how important he is and that they will pull out all the stops for him? Yes Do I think that Harper is going to bring up Bryant in a meeting? Unlikely. Im glad you arent part of the team who is trying to get Harper to come to the Sox. Because while at the end of the day money is likely what makes the difference, I wouldnt want to be the guy who didnt put my best foot forward and find out that another team got Harper because they made a better pitch.
  10. But dad I was internet famous for a minute!
  11. No the Sox shouldnt do that. They should just send a telegram saying "here is our offer", while all of the other teams wine and dine Harper,
  12. Well if the Sox are putting on a recruiting pitch they must not believe their chance is 0%. And again, if you are trying to get someone to sign with your team, why would you not use every single advantage you have? Why would you not try and recruit? Seems negligent not to. So kind of strange you think the Sox shouldnt do their best to try, even if they dont succeed.
  13. The guy had mental health issues, it will be interesting to see if he legally was allowed to still own a gun. That being said, I believe 2 of the dead are a security officer and a police officer. California allows concealed carry, so not sure what that comment even means.
  14. Whether you think its lame or not, it would be stupid as hell for the Sox to not put their best foot forward.
  15. No its because the White Sox are preparing a pitch to Harper, and I guarantee part of the pitch is going to be how he can be a megastar in Chicago. And the Sox would be foolish not to include the fact that the Sox and Bulls have a shared ownership. (edit) And did you notice the banner is "Sox" not "Bulls."
  16. Harper plays basketball? Im even more confused. What is embarrassing about the Sox pitching Harper to play for the Sox?
  17. Im not understanding your comment. Are you saying that since the Sox have 0% chance of signing Harper they shouldnt make their best effort to get him?
  18. If the Sox are willing to pay $20mil plus for Corbin, Id at least see what AZ wants for Greinke and how much cash they would throw in. That being said, we are probably on his 15 team no trade list.
  19. Since every loss is important Im happy that the Bulls are letting Holiday, Payne and Blakeney take as many or more shots than Carter. But at some point Id really like to see Carter averaging 15+ shots a night. At full strength Im not sure what the Bulls are going to do. I know Parker is a whipping boy here, but he has been pretty solid and actually runs a pretty interesting fast break. For most of the night he had his way with Randle. The problem is unless he can play SF, he wont be worth $20mil a year to the Bulls as a back up. There is no way you can take minutes away from Carter and Lauri, so how Portis is going to fit in as well is going to be a challenge.
  20. Not saying its likely, but I think you pitch Klay on the idea of being the "guy" in a major market and getting a chance to show how talented he is. It may not work, but worth a shot.
  21. Thats not what I said at all: some of IL's problems date back to when there were Republican governors. Part of the crisis started in 1994 under Jim Edgar, who was a Republican: Where did I say it was entirely Edgar's fault? Ill hang up now.
  22. Exactly. Thats life. IL gave Rauner a chance, he made it even worse. Acting like some magically Republican unicorn is going to save the day is foolish. Anyone who is being honest needs to realize that we are going to have to pay for the past.
  23. And thats why taxes are going to have to go up. Pensions arent going anywhere, IL has to pay them. They need more money, so they are going to have to create new revenue streams (gambling/marijuana) and also raise taxes.
