  1. Ibanez still on a tear doubles to right, Ichiro held at third. Next guy makes an our (wasnt paying attention so imagine something amazing)
  2. Ichiro grounds out up the middle, cant make the DP. Cairo pops up to Alexei
  3. No matter how this season ends, the 2008 White Sox are a fun team to watch. Even when we went down 3 runs in the first, I just had a feeling that theyd come back and make a game out of it. Lately they seem to be really finding themselves.
  4. In that season Orton threw more ints than tds... In fact in his career Orton has more ints than tds he is also sporting a 62.2 career qb rtg.
  5. This is my problem: Grossman has gotten chance after chance. True, and in the only season he started every game the Bears went to the super bowl. Now Orton also started an entire season, 2005, the Bears did not go to the super bowl. In Orton's season he posted 9 td's to 13 int. In Grossman's season he posted 23 td to 20 int. Orton had a rtg of 59.7 (lower than any Grossman season) Grossman had a rtg of 73.9 According to preseason reports, Orton has put up almost 2x the amount of turn overs as Grossman. Grossman finally is learning to hold onto the ball and not try and use his talent to force something. I just dont see how the argument: "Orton won 10 games as a starter" Is really relevant when that year he put up worse numbers than Grossman did last year. I dont think our defense is good enough to win 10 games with a 59.7 qb rtg like it was in 2005.
  6. Bears make me so angry its not even funny. This is so lame, the season just is not going to be any fun for me. (Well barring some drastic reversal of Bears fortune and Orton turning awesome and the Bears O-line turning into mediocre.)
  7. I dont know if Dan Pasqua is considered obscure enough.
  8. This place has changed a lot over the years. I dont think that I will ever consider it small because I can remember when there were not that many who posted here. Prior to 2005 the whole board had a different atmosphere as the board was filled with people who loved the White Sox no matter what. Most of us had barely seen any success in the playoffs in our entire life time, so most of the threads ideas were always upbeat dream scenarios about how the White Sox would some how do it with limited payroll. Its hard to remember what it was like to be a White Sox fan and expect so little. I still read almost every thread, I just dont post that much (well compared to others I never really have posted that much) because it seems more people are quick to get down on the Sox and not enjoy the ride like they used to be.
  9. Griffey's swing has actually looked better as of late. Maybe hes not pressing as much cause he is seeing that he doesnt need to be the man, he just needs to be part of the team.
  10. Konerko has looked a lot better at the place since the Griffey trade.
  11. People get paid to write articles that sell. No one wants to read about how the United States flat out choked away its chance and regardless of the age or any of the other bulls*** could have still won. People want to read conspiracy theories, they want to read sensationalism. At the end of the day if the US was the best, they win that meet.
  12. Im not the only one who remarked about how you presented the article. Perhaps you did not mean it to sound as if you were attacking America, but thats how it sounded. /shrug
  13. Well your post makes it seem like the US in stating its some sort of conspiracy, when the US has come out and said that Chinese officials did nothing wrong. The only person who has said otherwise is a non-American. /shrugs I guess I dont see how the article jives with your original post, when the article states the US federation: Seems that the US explicitly said that it was not a conspiracy, and that Karolyi didnt know what she was talking about. But I guess you just wanted to present it as some sort of anti-American article? I really dont know, I just dont see anything in that article that shows an American stating its a conspiracy.
  14. The article you quoted has American's saying it was not the fault of the Chinese officials. It clearly stats Marta Karolyi said those things. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marta_K%C3%A1rolyi Karolyi is not an American, so while she may work for America, it does not mean she represents the view point of most Americans.
  15. He likes to give the United States a lead so that the rest of the swimmers know what they need to do. Or at least thats what they said prior to the 800 free style relay.
  16. I never said older is better, I said that generally 14 is below the peak age in terms of gymnastics. Nadia was 14 in her first Olympics (back then 14 was allowed to compete) and its interesting cause Koralyi was her coach. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_controversies_in_gymnastics My opinion still is that 16 is generally the peak age for a gymnast, the reason that a 14 year old would want to compete is that the next Olympics would be out of there peak range (they would be 18.) Maybe it is cheating, maybe it isnt. I really dont care as if they are good enough to compete in the Olympics, they should be able to.
  17. Well cheating to me implies getting an advantage. For example: A player can get suspended from the olympics for doing illegal drugs, these drugs include steroids and marijuana. If some one was caught doing marijuana I would consider it breaking the rules, not cheating as they are unlikely to be getting any benefit from it. If some one was caught doing steroids, it would not only be breaking the rules but cheating. I just dont necessarily see the advantage of using a younger athlete when generally athletes that young are not as good as those a few years older... Now if we just go by the definition of cheating, then yes it is as it is some sort of trickery, but Im going by the gaining an advantage standard.
  18. Some of the scoring is crazy, I saw a girl just completely wipe out in a vault get a better score than some one who landed a different vault. A lot of the problem is reputation if you are supposed to win the judges seem to fall over themselves to make sure it happens. On the other hand I feel that no matter what the US did on pommel horse they were getting a bronze, the judges werent going to let them pass the Japanese and werent going to let them fall below the Germans. Its not necessarily cheating as it should be a disadvantage to have younger athletes than older more experienced ones. They are just breaking the rules if its true. And its basically impossible to prove as there is no real test to determine age.
  19. Picked up madden for Ps3 just need to finish work so I can play it.
  20. Sounds like a great time, cant believe that I missed that amazing 2007 party, especially the Roll Call! Must have been a blast! Go Cubs Go!
  21. The problem with what Cox did wasnt that he started to wave him around, its that he ran up the line so that he couldnt stop Thome once he saw that Joyce got the ball in quickly. If he stays in front of Thome he can put the stop sign up and Thome can get back into third. For some reason he just runs into left field and he cant do anything but watch.
  22. Balta, And the Packers had the cap space for him, they still have the cap space for him right now. Arguable at best, Im pretty sure that the majority of veterans want the best chance to win this year, and id venture to guess most of them think thats Favre still. Well thats where I disagree. I think that the majority of teams would not make this deal and would have wanted the best chance to win this year. The 2nd round pick is great if your a team that is rebuilding, but when your a team that went to the NFC championship game last year shouldnt your goal be to win the Super Bowl? If I was the GM, I would be trying to win this year, and worry about next year next year. Football is not a sport where you can really plan for the future, the turn over rate on players is so high that you just never know what you will have year in and year out. On the other hand, if the Packers really felt Favre was done and they just wanted maximum value, they would have entertained offers from the Vikings. The fact that they were so afraid of Minnesota getting him that they were not willing to maximize their trade, shows that they still feel Favre is a capable player who can guide a team to the playoffs. A 2nd round pick is always nice, but its still just a gamble. I guess if my team is a playoff contender, i want them to go for the super bowl. Different philosophies.
  23. Then you must have some other information than I do because from what Ive read and seen Favre acted like a saint and could have burnt the whole Packer franchise to the ground. Imagine if he goes to the media and says: "If Im traded I wont play, Ill only play for the Packers and im going to be at training camp unless they cut me." Hes been taking bullets for the Packers ever since this whole thing went down, its the Packers who dont want him, its the Packers who wouldnt even trade him to a team that he wanted to go to. What exactly did Brett do wrong besides for saying: "Im retiring". (Edit) Whats funny is im not even a Favre fan, I usually argue hes pretty over rated, but in this instance I just am dumbfounded by the Packers.
  24. Ive read the books, read the articles, I dont feel the need to write a thousand page story about what happened. Im not a part of Bulls management nor do I know Jordan personally, so I just base what I know on what I saw and what Ive put together. Bottom line is that if Jordan had at any point decided he just wanted to play for the Bulls, hed have been a Bull. As for knowing the whole story, I doubt I do as I dont have any personal knowledge of any of the participants. But I have a pretty good idea what went down. Just like the Favre situation, I may not know any of them, but when you look at what happened, I dont believe it takes a rocket scientist to figure out the Packers basically told Favre at the end of last year that your days are numbered in this organization. Cause how hard would it have been to say: "Hey Brett, we know it was a hard year, we know that you have a lot to think about. Take your time, make the decision thats best for you, and no matter what we will support you in the end." I just think Thompson was happy Favre was gone and didnt want to leave the door open at all.
