  1. Its over, Republicans have won Indiana.
  2. Not really. Lebron, Bosh and Wade were friends and had a plan. I dont think Machado and Harper care at all about eachother.
  3. Well hopefully Rauner pays for being one of the worst governors. I mean he actually vetoed a bill that would have made it illegal for banks to charge fees on rebate cards: HB4922 http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=&SessionId=91&GA=100&DocTypeId=HB&DocNum=4922&GAID=14&LegID=110336&SpecSess=&Session= Why would this even matter, unless you are trying to appease big banks.
  4. Those tv ads are such wastes. It feels like the same company makes it for both sides "______ radical agenda ______ extreme views". There are so few times that I even watch a commercial, not to mention I voted 2 weeks ago... JB on the other hand I couldnt get away from, because every website ad was "Hey JB".
  5. Unlikely IL beats either of them. But still would be positioned well if Chicago gets it before NY.
  6. I think JB wins. The rest of my vote didnt even matter at all. Im hoping that a few states pass marijuana legalization and that if JB gets elected it gets fast tracked for approval in IL.
  7. I havent really wanted to talk about (5) because I think that swings both ways. If they are planning to sell they either want to go all in and have the "best" team to market, or they want to have 0 payroll so that any new owner can do whatever they want. I think timing also has benefited Sox, because some of the big time teams dont seem to be as willing to throw their money around.
  8. I think the Sox have banked more money than people think, and I think that Reinsdorf may have one last big move in him. Purely speculation.
  9. Not really worried about Felicio's contract. Next year Lopez is gone, so paying Felicio 9mil isnt going to really hurt anyone. Right now the focus needs to be on who to try and target in FA. Durant or Leonard would be the dreams, but I think the Bulls should target Thompson after those 2.
  10. Hutchison should be taking minutes from Payne or Holiday. Parkers minutes are fine while Lauri is out. Parker reminds me of of Anthony Mason on offense. Sometimes he gets a little selfish but he can bring the ball up the court and can actually be a decent passer. I definitely can see a role for him backing up Lauri and Carter, as well as an offensive option for the second unit. The only thing redeeming thing i saw that Payne did the entire game was sprint back on defense 1 time. Him and Holiday shoot way too much. Holiday's defense was solid though. I also cant really figure out what they are doing on defense. They seem to just randomly run all over the place. If Hoiberg can't figure out minute distribution now, i worry when they are at full strength. Long season but to me that is what will determine if he should be back next year.
  11. Hoiberg's biggest flaw is minute distribution. The only way Id forgive him if he was intentionally trying to lose but make it seem like they werent. Payne and Holiday take too many shots when better options are on the floor. Hutchison is pretty good going to his right, I dont think Ive seen him drive to his left. In a strange way his drives remind me of Pippen.
  12. I think Parker could work out well as a 6th man when Lauri comes back. When hes on the floor with starters he sometimes takes up too much ball time, but on a second unit that would be fine. Parker would also work better if there were a few other less selfish players. But guys like Cam Payne seem to also take up too much time on the ball, so the problem seems to exacerbate when they are on the floor together.
  13. When I say tank loss, I mean any loss they can get right now is good because it hopefully improves their draft pick. Unless injuries linger or they have really bad luck, its hard to imagine the Bulls will end with one of the worst 5 records. And the Bulls arent really in NBA hell. Carter, Lauri, Lavine seem to be at worst really solid pieces. Hutchison looks to have some athletic ability as well. They need to try and find a SF/SG/PG superstar, if they really want to take it to the next level. But if GS loses Durant or Thompson next year, the Bulls could be a lot closer than I could have ever imagined a few months ago.
  14. Some of those calls were really garbage. But the bad reffing probably helped the tank loss, so Im not going to complain. Two things that really stood out to me. Was that I think to start Lavine had 0 points and 3 assists. I think when he gets more confidence in his teammates he may become even more dangerous on the ball. Carter had 6 offensive rebounds which is great. Lastly, I hope that Blakeney has earned more playing time. The guy was at one time an McDonalds All American and a top 20 recruit going into college. A lot of guys get lost in college and sometimes if you wait until soph year you get forgotten. I think the Bulls just need to keep playing him to see what they got.
  15. The play was on Lavine. Not sure I agree with the fade away 2pt when he could have maybe gotten it inside to Carter, but great tank loss.
  16. Same. There were a few times that Carter was pretty wide open after screens and they didnt get him the ball. I think the starting line up likely will be: WCJ/Lauri/Hutchison/Lavine/Dunn (when they are all healthy) with Parker as 6th man. They need to find a star though if they want to take the next step next year. So hopefully they keep losing close games and get lucky in the lotto.
  17. Its really nice to see Carter being more assertive the last 2 games on the offensive end.
  18. Man clock error may cost the Bulls a quality tank loss.
  19. Hes not Native American. Hes filipino and italian. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2018/10/26/who-is-cesar-altieri-sayoc-what-we-know-about-suspected-mail-bomber-arrested-florida/?noredirect=on https://miami.cbslocal.com/2018/10/26/friend-cesar-sayocs-mother-aventura/ Id be careful saying someone is "blatantly lying" about Sayoc's background.
  20. Interesting. My mom and her family all went to Catholic school, Ive never met anyone ever refer to their culture as "catholic." Ive heard them call themselves Irish, Italian, but never once did the disassociate from the country they immigrated from and just call themselves "Catholic." But maybe there are Catholics who dont identity with where there family immigrated from, I guess its possible that people on the southside dont call themselves "Irish" and instead just refer to themselves as "Catholic."
  21. Late Night comedy talk shows and movies are about ratings and money. They have no obligation to present fair or unbiased opinions. For the most part they report to shareholders. Hollywood is dominated by money.
  22. This isnt really something new. Many moons ago people found information on the internet unreliable and felt you had to go to a library and get the information from a book. Access to information is always changing and 19/20 year olds often dont really care about politics because they dont see how it impacts them. Its hard to believe its been this long, but 20 years ago people were complaining about media bias on internet forums. Im sure that 20 years before that they were complaining about it too, just in a different place. Instead of worry about the noise, try and figure out what you want to believe in yourself. If anything growing up in a shitty political time, should be the exact reason why people who are 18-20 should be more involved. They are the ones who are going to have to live longest with the consequences of what happens.
  23. 1) I dont know. The only scholarships I got were entirely based on merit. I never applied for financial aid or a scholarship, but I was awarded partial scholarships for both undergraduate and law school. I never applied for them, I just was told that my grades/test scores qualified for money when they were trying to convince me to go to their school. I turned down more money from other schools, but who wanted to go to Iowa or Indiana? ( ) 2) I think that for some of the lower level colleges this would be true. But for the top 50 schools, the prices arent going to drop. There are plenty of people would pay double what U of I charges instate to get their kid a guaranteed spot. To use Wisconsin, only 5k kids get in. In state tuition is $10k out of state is $30k. They only accepted approximately 50% of the kids who apply. If you made loans harder for people with less income, those spots are all going to get taken by kids from wealthier areas. They wont have to drop prices at all. But im talking about top end schools, if you start going down further there probably would be people who choose not to pay a lot of money for a tier 3 school. But
  24. That is what nationalism means to you. Its not what it means to Jewish people. Due to their persecution over history, they have never really been part of any "nation." Every country they lived in they were never really fully accepted. This is why they developed their own languages (Yiddish) and why they will refer to themselves as "culturally" jewish, even though they dont necessarily believe in the religion. It would be odd to hear someone say they are an agnostic or atheist Catholic. But you will absolutely find people who say they are "atheist" Jews. Its hard to understand oppression until you are one of them.
  25. Im not going to get into the "right demographic" comment, as my statements apply to everyone. Without govt backing, most HS school students wouldnt get a loan at all. At minimum they would need a parent to co-sign the loan. If it wasnt govt backed, most families wouldnt qualify for loans for multiple children. Its hard for people to qualify for a mortgage and the mortgage is backed by a security. The loan would have 0 backing. You also would need to keep the rule that makes it so student loans cant be bked. I guess the underlying difference is that I believe that everyone should have a chance to go to the college they desire and should have the chance to make a bad decision. Perhaps we can agree that the govt should not be making money off of these loans and that we should be creating rules that limit the amount colleges (especially state schools) can increase their tuition per year. I have no problem with either of those ideas, but those seem to be ways to fix the current govt backed system. The reason why tuition is going up, is because supply and demand. The demand for college increases every year, the supply remains relatively consistent. 20 years ago Madison let in 5,850 Freshman. This year they let in 4.943. 20 years ago there were 40.196 total students now there are 44,413. In 1998 the US population was 275mil. Today its 325 mil. So the college is taking about the same freshman and has 10% more students total. Meanwhile the US population has increased 20%. That doesnt even include the fact that more kids are trying to go to college now then ever before. Of course colleges are going to price gauge until the govt steps in. As for your last comment, it applies to the people I know who went to law school who had parents who could afford to pay for it. Law School is a joke, you could pass the bar exam by taking Barbri for 3 weeks. 3 years is completely unnecessary is just a money sink/barrier of entry.
