White Sox vs. Yankees, 7/31/07 (L)
Soxbadger replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Ozzie should jsut stay out there. What are they going to do, suspend him for the season, thats a vacation at this point. -
My feeling is that the Iguchi/ Mack trades should be indicators of the market right now. Prospects are vastly over valued at the moment and it is really hard to pry one away. Why try and force a trade when some times the best trades are the ones that are never made? I just hope that there was some rhyme or reason to Mack and iguchi (iguchi im sure was for Richar so that they could evaluate whether or not they will need a new 2b next year.) Id like to see Count gone just to save the money, but that may be hard. The Sox may have to pay part of his salary and at this point they may still want to try and see fi they can fix him to atleast not have to pay for him to be moved. Its just hard to imagine that there were all these great offers out there and Williams just didnt want them.
-
I hope they trade them for nothing. Thats honestly what I feel they should do, just scrap Erstad and Pods. But my guess is no one wants them even for free.
-
Kalapse, I dont know I hope the Sox realize its better to put anyone out there under the age of 30 and just see what happens. The year is a lost cause. I hope that Erstad/Pods gets traded in another one of these we get nothing in return trades. Im just sick of seeing the same players go out there every day and not get the job done. This trade deadline was not going to make or break the Sox, and in fact Im glad none of our major players were traded *outside of Dye* because my guess is that Garland or Vaz would have been a package that would make most people throw up. I guess I just dont see what value Mack has on the bench. It seems negative to me, so thus addition by subtraction.
-
You can call them scrubs whatever, but the fact is the only way the Sox will know what they have in terms of younger players, is to put them on the field and see how they do. The real problem is that years ago the White Sox felt that Brian Anderson was the top OF prospect that the organization had and traded Chris Young. Had the Sox auditioned both of them, perhaps they would have felt differently and Anderson would have been traded when we had numerous offers for him. I dont understand what people want. Kenny trades the players he can, for what he can get. He does not destroy the core with bad trades, and people are pissed. What could he have done? Outside of Garland or Vazquez, where was he exactly going to get value? Im sorry but WMP for Dye is a sucker bet, Id rather offer arb and see if Dye signs some where else. Plus unless Dye goes insane the Sox are almost undoubtedly going to win.
-
No hes getting rid of old players so that new younger playsers can be auditioned. Thats called rebuilding. Would you rather have Mack and Iguchi play all year, or have younger guys who may be here in the future? If he could have traded Erstad and Pods for any value Im sure theyd be gone too. Mack had no place in the future of the organization, with the reality that rebuilding may take atleast next year. And if some how the Sox can be a contender next year, Mack was certainly not going to be a major piece of the puzzle. I see no loss in value for the Sox, so I dont see what the problem is.
-
What is Marte doing this year? (And I know its awesome, but for years people wanted to dump marte for anything cause of his control problems. It just goes to show that people on this board arent exactly nostradamus)
-
Really? Mack is a starter? Last I checked he was on the bench. Call bulls*** all you want, but no one is trading major spects for bench players who are old.
-
Count can still be traded, at this point theyll just put him through waivers.
-
I dont understand what all the b****ing is about these trades. He couldnt get good value for Dye, so he didnt trade him. Mack is worthless so he got what he could. Iguchi, once again, he got what he could. Its not like other 2bs or utility players were being traded for big time prospects. And yes lets fire KW because after putting together the best White Sox teams that most of us have witnessed in the last 10 years, he came up lame one time. Shoot him like a horse is what I say!

Yeah I was just showing that list because Louisville is unranked by US News. US news is the list in parenthesis.
-
My feeling is if ND wants to come to the Big 10, then that would be fine. Other than that most teams just really dont make sense for the Big 10, except for upper echelon teams in other conferences. I expect that almost every college in the region would want to be in the Big 10, but I dont understand why the Big 10 would be in any rush to just add another school. Unless its the perfect fit, Id rather just stay with 11. Its a hard decision because most of the schools who would fit best with the Big 10 in terms of academics and sports are the staple of their conference. So if the Big 10 could raid a top program that would be great, otherwise would a team like Missouri do anything? That just seems like a lower tier Big 10 sports team and academic program. Atleast Northwestern is a legitimate top university.
-
No way is the Big 10 taking in any University that is not in the top 100 schools: http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/...9.national.html This list actually has Louisville on it (Us News doesnt even list them), every Big 10 university is in the top 100, Louisville is 200. As a Big 10 grad, I would be sickened if we took in anything but top 100.

ive heard things about le male as well. It sounds lamer than lame though.

Select start was console for sure, but it was for a 2 player game. The reason you pressed select was because ithe code was for Contra and that was a 2 player game and it gave you 30 lives. So if you were playing with a friend, select would have been a 2 player game. In a single player game select would not be needed. Hence why people who played most games with their friends would say it was "select start".

No that is a terrible analogy. It would be like MJ going to China to make a new Chinese basketball league and the Lakers coming over to play, and then MJ not suiting up for the game because he had an ankle injury. Im sorry but the MLS season is meaningless, if you want legitamacy in the league they need to beat high powereed teams like Chelsea, etc. Also, MLS season has already started, LA is the second to last team, so who cares if he sits another 2-3 weeks. MLS is a joke, they should be taking these friendlys like the world series. Just like its more important for a Japanese team to beat a USA team when they go to Japan. A win against top competition brings legitimacy.
-
I don’t know, maybe I just expect too much because I am spoiled by American athletes who play through severe injuries. Sure there are guys who take their time to recover, but there are other guys who go out there and play with separated shoulders etc, and just live through the pain. I guess it just is not a good way to start in my opinion. I know that he may really be hurt, etc, but I guess I just expect more, and perhaps that is unfair to him. I have not thought he was an elite midfielder for the last few years anyways, his excellence is in his passing and set plays, so he will put on a show with free kicks and corners. On the other hand, Fire v Celtic was not hyped at all and Blanco put on a show. If anything Fire should have won that game against Celtic. Blanco was looking good though, almost as if they should have hyped him more.

Are you serious that Beckham is taking a bigger risk of playing than Terry? Terry is the English Captain, playing on a Premier team, in a game that means NOTHING. Beckham is done basically, this game meant more to MLS soccer than every other game this season. Sorry but there is a reason Beckham is playing in the MLS and not in a premier league and its because of his character. He has talent, there is no denying that he can strike the ball as good as anyone. But he lacks the heart and passion to carry a team, and that is why he is playing in America.
-
All I can say is that Terry is a man, and Beckham should learn from him. Plays with a toe he broke on Weds, in a game that means nothing, and scores the only goal.

Expect Mets to seriously pursue Iguchi
Soxbadger replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Harris has good talent. I always thought if he got consistent playing time that he would eventually be able to put all his skills together and become a pretty good player. Not exactly sure why its a fluke... -
Lance Smith, arguably Wisconsins #2 TB, is suspended and being investigated in regards to a fight with his girlfriend over a $10 cab ride last Saturday night. I was actually in Madison Saturday night, and I wish taht he would have just asked for $5, i mean how stupid are some of these guys getting.

How is this thread useless? That sequence was basically this Sox season in a nutshell, its mind boggling. Im sorry but it made me so sick that I turned off the game. I really would like to hear anyone explain what possibly could have been the motivation? Hes a .200 hitter.
