  1. I ATE DONUGHTS AND NOW NEED TO GET SOME OF THE ENERGY OUT BY SCREAMING ALSO I KNOW THE TRADE THE SOX SHOULD DO: WHITE SOX TRADE: JOE CREDE JIM THOME PAUL KONERKO MARK BUERHLE JERMAINE DYE FLORIDA MARLINS TRADE: MIGUEL CABRERA HANLEY RAMIREZ SCOTT OLSEN ANIBEL SANCHEZ MIKE JACOBS THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE MARLINS CAN REFUSE THIS DEAL. ALL OF THOSE YOUNG PLAYERS ARE WORTHLESS TO THEIR FRANCHISE WHEN THEY GET THE PLAYOFFS THEY NEED SOME VETS WHO HAVE BEEN THERE AND WON A CHAMPIONSHIP. THE SOX ARE TRADING 4 WORLD SERIES RINGS FOR 0, MAYBE THEY WILL THROW IN A GUY LIKE JOSH JOHNSON.
  2. Im strongly considering buying them. Think Ill pick me up a pair of lowtops next week.
  3. I think the difference is that Florida came out like a champion and knew how to win the game. It wasnt so much about their shooting pct it was more when they would hit them. Every time OSU started to work back into the game Florida would hit a 3 that would undo 1.5 possessions of work. If OSU shoots even decently I think that they win that game. It was one of those few occassions where you can say without a doubt the team that won played the better game for 40 minutes. I thought for sure it was going to be one of those Florida hot in the first and OSU hot in the second. But Florida kept making its shots and OSU kept missing theirs. The only questionable coaching decisions for Matta were: A) Not having some one stay on Humphrey constantly. Many plays that broke down Humphrey would be wide open at the end. B) Not using the press earlier. Had he switched it up in the middle started doing different thigns who knows. C) Forcing Florida inside. After it became apparent florida was going insane from behind 3 they should have forced florida to hit mid range jumpers which are basically the same difficulty but are only worth 2 points.
  4. Ive watched Carr since he torched Wisconsin with Berrian. His problems were always the fact that he was not good under pressure and that he had a low release point. They tried to fix the release point problem but that has led him to have a longer throwing motion and eventually has led to him having more sacks. If Carr starts this year, I expect him to get sacked a bunch of times regardless of what O-Line he plays behind. He holds the ball, he stares down wr's, and he does not move nearly as well as Vick, Young, McNabb who are the only few qb's that I would not call pocket passers. carr is athletic but not really a threat to run. I disagree on Young as well. I have watched him plenty of times and feel that he is a winner who makes good decisions on the field. He understands not to force the throw and that is one of the hardest things as a younger player. I feel that he will develop into more of a McNair than a Vick, as Mcnair is more leader less talented. Plus neither throw the ball like Vick does.
  5. The long and the short of it as follows: My computer has suffered the following error in dst status test: 1000-0142. Basically my hard drive is done. Im under warranty, but there are things on my hard drive that can not be replaced. Dell has given me the following list of companies who will give me a discount: Salvage Data Recovery Service On Track Driver Savers Action Front Data Recovery Labs Iomega Data Recovery Services CBL Data Recovery Services If anyone has any experience with any of these companies, or has another company that I can use I would greatly appreciate it. I will not be able to live with myself if some of this stuff is lost. Success is much more important than price.
  6. No they werent all his fault. But you would expect improvement. For example: Rosenfel's playing for the same team had 1 sack in 39 attempts. If you divide out Carr's sacks it comes to: 1 sack in 10 attempts. In 2005, Tony Banks had 25 attempts and 0 sacks. At what point do you stop making excuses for a player when no other players on that team seem to have the same problems?
  7. | Year TM | G | Comp Att PCT YD Y/A TD INT | Att Yards TD Player A | 16 | 233 444 52.5 2592 5.8 9 15 | 59 282 3 Player B| 15 | 184 357 51.5 2199 6.2 12 13 | 83 552 7 Both were rookies, and yet you claim one of them cant read defenses etc, but when you look at the stats you would think that would be the one with the 9-15 pass int ratio, not the 12-13? I for one do not really see how you can argue Vince Young is not going to be a more capable player in the NFL than David Carr. Young is more dynamic, and in his first season put up a much better td/int ratio than Carr. It actually took Carr 2 seasons to put up a positive TD/Int ratio, and Young's qb rating is almost as good as Carr's in his second year. Unless Young regresses he should be on pace to surpass Carr in almost every statistical category. The only thing Carr will generally have more of is total passing yards because he cant run for s***. Also a big difference is fumbles and sacks. Carr is just sack prone like none other, where as Young is very difficult to sack. Young was sacked 25 times last year, had 11 fumbles, and lost 3. Carr on the other hand has been sacked, 76, 15, 49, 68, and 49 times. Every season but one he has fumbled 10+ times, and lost 5+ in each of those seasons. Vince Young alleviates pressure and makes it much more difficult for a team to get sacks. Hence why a team with a poor O-line like the Texans would want a more mobile athletic qb than Carr who is a pocket passer. So as a recap: 1) Young is not the worst rated QB. In fact he put up a better qb rating than Carr did in his rookie campaign. 2) Young is a winner, some players regardless of stats just know how to win games.
  8. Your completely taking that quote out of context, I believe what Fathom was saying: "the fault should go totally towards the Gordon family, and Sampson doesn't deserve the hate he's received." Is that SAMPSON is not at fault. It has nothing to do with Weber at all, and I may be wrong on this but I do not believe that Fathom is even an Illini fan.
  9. I dont know if I said it on this board or another, but I guarantee there are posts where I say that the Texans are fools if they dont draft Vince Young. It wasnt about talent it was about building a franchise and getting fans, nothing would have solidified Houston more than bringing in an in-state hero.
  10. Im not an Illini fan. Do you not see the "Soxbadger" and Bucky the Badger at the the Cell? Gordon didnt do anything wrong by changing his mind. Lying in an article to try and make yourself look good and everyone else look bad is not "doing something right", and I would say it is "doing something wrong." Gordon is not going to Illinois, does he really need to create more trouble for them? Seems like he is just trying to cover his own ass and try and create more problems for Illinois.
  11. Yeah thats my basic point that Weber was put in a terrible position. When your recruit is saying: "Im committed coach dont worry", what can you do. If you start to believe the internet rumors etc, then you look like you dont believe the player. If he really wasnt considering reopening his committment, maybe it makes him change his mind because he will feel that the coach isnt 100% behind him and doesnt believe in him. The only thing I dont like about Sampson is he could have told Weber out of respect. Its not a rule, its not necessary, and its my own opinion. I feel that if a call had been made to Illinois to the extent of: "Hey Gordon is interested because Im a new coach at Indiana, as you understand I have to recruit this player. Im gonna try my best to take him from you, so if you want make back up plans." For example if Weber had been fired while a guy like Collins was in Illinois, the coach would have had to recruit him even if he was already committed to KU. The failure to go after such a big recruit would be a disaster. I think that most fans of college sports understand this reality, I just believe that there was a better way to handle this situation. Not like I really care as Gordon on Illinois or Indiana probably poses the same threat to Wisconsin.
  12. I dont see how an unbiased observer can believe any of the bulls*** coming from the Gordon camp. Even the old Indiana articles paint the picture horribly for him.
  13. Well if you read the article carefully it completely destroys the credibility of Gordon saying: "I was telling Illinois up front". Because if he was opening recruiting as soon as Sampson was hired, then over that summer when he visited Indiana (prior to Sept 1) it would not have been under the pretext of "seeing his brother" it would have been a "recruiting trip". And I guarantee that Illinois would have been on his ass that whole summer.
  14. And that proves exactly what im saying. Sampson was hired as Indiana basketball coach on: March 29, 2006. The first reports of Gordon having contact with Indiana are on Sept 1, 2006. That is nearly half a year later, are you saying that during that time Sampson was not at all recruiting Gordon? Or does this prove that he was being recruited in secret and it wasnt until Sept (very late in the recruiting game) when it started to become public that Indiana was after Gordon? (EDIT) From your own article: "The last time they were spotted in Bloomington they were able to pass it off as the player being there to watch his brother play at one of IU's Elite camps. But this time, especially if he participates in that scrimmage, all bets are off. This time he's got some explaining to do." Basically shows that the Gordon camp was not being honest with Weber and Illinois at all. They were purposefully misleading them on the nature of the visits. Not sure how with this information you can say "Gordon was being upfront".
  15. Its always interesting how the Indiana fans phrase this scenario: "Everyone knew" Find one article from when Sampson was hired where it has any information from the Gordon camp that he was waivering on his committment. "It's like the boy who everyone tells him that his girlfriend is cheating on him, but he doesn't want to believe it." Once again this is an absolute fantasy situation. Who is this "everyone". IN fact the person who should have undeniably told Weber is Sampson, and not one person will come in here and say "Sampson told Weber that Gordon was re-opening recruitment." So sorry I dont buy the "everyone" it was kept secret on purpose by Indiana and the Gordon camp. They knew that if recruiting was really "opened", that not only would it be a fight between Indiana and Illinois, but that other schools would come calling too. There is no way that Sampson could risk a full on assualt from the top programs around the country recruiting Gordon, so it was purposefully kept out of the public, and I can almost gaurantee that Gordon was explicitly told not to tell Illinois what was going on. Weber may not be able to recruit, but if Thad Matta stepped through Gordon's door with recruitment reopened who knows if Gordon isnt the next Indiana recruit to play for the Buckeyes. As for b****ing, I dont see any from Illini fans. Im not an Illini fan, I am a Big 10 fan. I dont care what Sampson did, I dont think you will find anywhere that I have said it was unethical, etc. What I have said is that I dont believe Gordon or that article, and that in my experience Weber may be a lot of things, but one thing most people can agree on is that he is a well respected coach. And of course Hoosier fans are going to bring this up, until next basketball season they have nothing to talk about. This whole saga is pretty nonsensical anyways, Gordon is most likely a 1 and done, and if you look at the vast majority of 1 and done players, their overall impact on the conference and NCAA is somewhat negligeble.
  16. Or Gordon is a liar. Does not really convince me months after the fact when a player all of a sudden completely changes the story that the media and everyone else has been portraying. If Gordon had told people, why did he not mention it in any other interview until now? Generally inconsistencies in a story over time mean that the newer story is less likely to be the true one. But Im sure every Indiana fan will come in here and say this is proof positive, and every Illinois fan will say who cares what Gordon said. Ive never really heard of Weber being a liar, undercutting guy, etc. From what I can tell he is a pretty respected coach. So Im gonna side with him, as I dont know Eric Gordon from Adam.
  17. Right by where I work! Wish it would some how get me sent home early with pay (yeah right)
  18. Expect the worst hope for the best. By closing the lead this quickly OSU has accomplished 2 important things: A) Rest Oden and protect his foul problem. B. They can withstand a run by Tenn and still stay in the game. The margin of error and still win for OSU just increased dramatically by how quickly they have come back, and how well they have started to defend.
  19. Well the first time OSU played Wisconsin they were down and almost came back, if they can chip away early I think they can outlast Tenn,
  20. The Locke-Ben story line boils down as follows (imho): Ben is perceived as all powerful by his people. What makes the people on the island perceive this is some what of a mystery, although I feel it is derived from the fact that Ben seems to know everything about everyone on the island. This part of the plot has not been developed at all, but has constantly been touched on (from the first others kidnapping when they had a "list"). It is clear that Ben some how is getting knowledge about these people, but at this point its nothing more than speculation on how its occuring. The Locke story line creates a problem for Ben. Locke was crippled but as soon as he came to the island was healed. Ben on the other hand was born on the island, never left the island, and not only has not been healed but has some how gotten sick. There have been 2 other cases of miracle heals, with the lady who had cancer and perhaps with Sun and Jin. But it appears that Ben really has no understanding of the healing power of the island. This connects to an even more remote story line in Australia where I believe it was the black lady was going to a "power source" where she would be healed. When she met the healer he said something cryptic like "this is not your place to be healed." If you extrapolate that situation to here it would appear that the island is a similar power source that may not heal all people equally. Even further it may be the type of injury/person that plays a role in whether or not the miracle can occur. Ben is perceived as "good" by his people, but as the story line has progressed it is clear that by "good" Ben is doing everything for his own sake. Comparitively, Locke was injured being altruistic. He paralyzed because he went out of his way to try and save another family from his father's con with no real benefit to himself. In fact Locke never even makes an offer to split the money etc, he just did not want that family to be conned as he had. Perhaps as Ben has become twisted and more self-serving, he has lost the connection to the island that he once had, and that loss of connection is manifesting itself in the cancer, and now in his inability to walk. Even the destruction of the sub confirms Ben's motives. Instead of thinking that he could use the sub to go back and perhaps get better at another place, he is so determined to prevent Jack from leaving, and from showing weakness that he would rather stay on the island forever and remain the god/leader that he perceives himself to be. As for letting them go, I believe that some how Locke will strike a deal with Ben that in exchange for Locke staying with Ben and helping him, that the other 3 will be let go. I think Locke will start to see that Ben is a conman like his father and that he will realize the errors in his way, and Locke may be the person to erode Ben's power. Because it is unclear whether only Ben knows about everyone, or whether all the others know. As it could be interesting if onyl Ben knows Locke used to be in a wheel chair.
  21. I really dont see why committing to Vick longterm is such a folly. At what age did Steve Young come into his own as an NFL player? (the answer is 31) Vick is 26 and has already been to 3 probowls, Young did not make his first until age 32. I can see why you would just give up on the most athletically blessed QB to ever set foot in the NFL. This is a terrible move for the Texans, not only did they mess up wiht Young, they wasted their pick on Carr, and now have wasted more picks on another unproven commodity. Recipe for disaster.
  22. Archuleta is not a good cover safety is the biggest concern if he plays there. IF he goes LB, then he needs to bulk up a little and would probably more suited to take Hillenmeyers position, with Briggs being replaced independently.
  23. While generally I would agree Addison, but in this situation with Ozzie there are always questions. All Im going to say is Timo Perez. Because we have all seen him make erraticate roster choices and play favorites. Hes the manager he can do what he wants, but he has shown that he will let emotions/etc get in the way of strategic thinking.
  24. Nah the difference is that for the last 2 weeks Wisconsin has felt that they dont need to show up for the first half and can just come out and turn it on at any moment. As for where I have been... Personal situation, you can ask Jimbo I havent been around other places that have nothing to do with NCAA basketball. I didnt even watch most of the game on Sunday, because in the end it was just a basketball game. I also dont think that the Big 10 did anything to prove that they were not one of the top 3 conferences. Purdue, Indiana, and MSU all played well. Wisconsin played flat and lost, they didnt rotate well to the open shooter at the end of the game and a guy for UNLV hit a big shot. Also Tucker went cold from the FT line, where he had been doing well. All in all it sucks, but ah well such is life.
