  1. Yeah it varies by state, I was just going with the common 18 is an adult, 17 and 364 days is not.
  2. Jury nullifications are very rare for 2 reasons: 1) Judges can not instruct the Jury about jury nullification (US v. Moylan) 2) Attorneys can not argue for the jury to disregard the law. (Edit: They can argue a law is unconstitutional, but they cant just tell the jury to "disregard the law" because its foolish/etc.) So it takes an extremely rare jury to have heard of nullification, and an extremely strong person to convince the entire jury to go for it.
  3. My guess is that some high powered law firm takes the case Pro Bono now and wins at the appellate level. She probably did not have alot of money to hire a defense attorney and most likely thought that this was an open and shut case. It could be hard though because most likely its statutory and probably poorly written so that there is no knowledge requirements etc. Kind of like the case where a 18 year old boy has sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. And eventhough the girl comes to court and says its consensual, the law says that consent does not matter so the jury is forced to convict. Its a hard place for a juror to be because your supposed to enforce the law, regardless of whether you think that its stupid.
  4. Zoom, Thats the problem I have as well. All of these "last teams in" would be fighting for 4,5,6 place in the Big 10 as well. The only difference is the top teams of the Big 10 arent doing any of the other Big 10 teams favors by dropping 1 or 2. If Illinois had beat Wisconsin at Illinois, and MSU had beaten OSU, the Big 10 would all of a sudden be at 5 teams as in. I doubt any of those teams you listed would have done better than a split against Indiana and losing to OSU/Wisconsin.
  5. Well thats exactly my point. Right now ESPN etc are running the show. When it comes to selection Sunday, the conference with the biggest deepest and most powerful pocket is: The Big 10. CBS et al are not going to want to be on Delaney's b**** list, and quite frankly if Big 10 only has 3 there are going to be heads.
  6. How do you rectify that Wisconsin beat MU on the road, and destroyed Pitt? That to me suggests that the Big East while competitive amongst itself, would not fare to well against the big 10.
  7. Well as Ive already shown Illinois has a better resume than most of the last teams selected. Im not going to go through every single reason, but if you look at the RPI, SOS, etc the Big 10 teams are in the top in every category. Teams like Illinois are getting hurt because unlike the Big East or Big 12, the top 2 teams in the Big 10 are much harder to beat. If Illinois, MSU, etc only won 1 game against OSU or Wisconsin, they would be considered locks. Why should they be punished because the top 2 teams are superior than other conferences top 2 teams?
  8. Look at the break down fo that bracket: ACC- 8 Big East- 7 SEC- 6 21 out of 64 teams from the east coast. 1/3 of the entire bracket.
  9. Last 5 games for your boy Sharon: Points Assists Turnovers 11 5 0 9 1 1 18 2 3 11 7 0 14 7 2 Last 5 For Conley: 4 5 1 18 6 4 10 3 0 23 6 1 14 4 4 Its very hard for me to believe that Sharon is so much better than Conley based on any statistical information and based on seeing them play. Even using your last 5 games, Conley is at worst on par. And that is not even bringing in the level of competition as only 1 of Sharons games was against good competition.
  10. Yah sorry another site erronouesly said the first KU basketball game was 1908. (Upon further review i f***ed it up and wrote 1908 instead of 1898 because if you look at my post I say the amount of time right. Sorry for the confusion) But even using your starting date: So actually those games were played 4 years before Kansas even had a team. Hard to have invented something when you werent first second third fourth And mind finding where I said: I insisted that this years Badger is better than this years Kansas. Its the Kansas fans who want to talk about the past, because you dont have much ammo in the present
  11. Boo this man. If I wanted ot talk about valentines day Id call my girlfriend. Isnt it pretty clear by the fact Ive wasted all this time arguing about Kansas basketball that talking about valentines day, or any sort of happiness is exactly opposite of my agenda. After I leave work I probably wont evne get to think about sports for fear of yelling
  12. No actualyl I was the kid who argued with the teacher that the homework assignment was flawed and taht everyone should get credit. I am the biggest slacker in the world, hence why I went to Wisconsin. As I told the college counselor a very important part in deciding where I would go to school was how highly rated it was in terms of parties and sports. (EDIT) And just because people in Kansas believe that they are the grandfather of basketball, does not make it so.
  13. Im gonna kill this argument. You started and now Im gonna finish. So far you have yet to even say how Collins is better than Conley, and why Wisconsin couldnt handle Collins when Conly only scored 7 pts and fouled out? Correct me if Im wrong, but Naismith did not even found the Kansas program until 1908. Meaning that Kansas did not even have a basketball team for 2 years while other teams did. So how exactly could Kansas have founded something 2 years after it was already going on?
  14. OH So the guy who ivented the sport later went to Kansas after the sport was created. So in fact Kansas had nothing to do with the creation at all. And just hired the man who did it. It would be like Bill Gates leaving Microsoft to go to Wisconsin and then Wisconsin claiming we founded Windows.
  15. Here are some interesting stats: Lets see which is the better team: Team A: RPI: 4 SOS: 41 Top 50: 7-2 50-100: 4-0 100+: 13-0 Non-Conference: 14-1 RPI: 4 SOS: 14 Team B: RPI- 17 SOS: 46 1-50: 3-2 50-100: 7-2 100+: 11-0 Non-conference: 13-2 RPI: 29 SOS: 88 Is there any comparison even? I already did hold on let me go get my post again that you and watchtower conviently skipped
  16. Still waiting on your squakhawk friend to tell me how Sherron Collins is better than any pg in the Big 10, when he wouldnt even be the best freshman. Oh wait I forgot, its because Jaysquawks only beat themselves. No Rock Wisconsin is the worst team in the Big 10. Its Football team is the worst, and its basketball team is second worst (behind Northwestern)
  17. Wait was that a serious comment watchtower? Havent seen an "Elite" team? When is the last time that Kansas has gotten farther than my non-elite Wisconsin?
  18. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writ....tourney/2.html Illinois - Kansas Round 2? make it happen.
  19. When they stay in their own world KU fans and myself have no problem. Its when they start to beat their little chicken wings against their chest and try and tell the rest of the world how great they are that all of a sudden I just get an irresistable urge. Now let me have my fun, I still want to hear about how Sherron Collins is better than every single pg that Wisconsin has faced. Its like a comedy.
  20. Dont bring stats into this argument. KU just beat themselves all those times so really they are undefeated. Can either OSU or Wisconsin say that?!
  21. OSU and Wisconsin are much better at winning games they are supposed to win. And Kansas fans have yet to present an argument for why they present a more difficult match up than any of the other teams that we have faced. Im not saying that KU couldnt win just that: EASILY HANDLE. Thats just homerism My argument was against the fact that KU could easily handle Wisconsin, not an argument that Wisconsin and OSU are head and shoulders above KU.
