  1. Zito must be asking for crazy dollars, because it would make more sense for the Cubs to add a lhp who has not had arm injuries. As compared to a RH power pitcher who has had some arm trouble.

If bonds played lf for the Sox I wouldnt mind. Second half of last year he started to bounce back, and you know he is going to work his ass off to come back strong next season.
  3. Well Wisconsin has a few big guys, the only problem is that they have not played to their recruitment ranking. Butch is probably our best recruit and he is still very raw. On the other hand Tucker is probably our best player, and he was not a very highly rated recruit. Early season games are hard to predict though. Should be interesting to finally see them, especially guys like Landry and Bohannon.
  4. Im just hoping Wisconsin beats FSU. Atleast it will be on TV.
  5. He cant pitch with pressure, yet he was one of the Sox best pitchers after the All-Star break. Seems that those statements dont add up.
  6. Well Wisconsin won today and shot much better from 3-point land. If they had shot anything like that yesterday they probably would have won. Hopefully they dont fall to far in next weeks poll, but its still early so just winning games and getting better is the biggest goal.
  7. Im sure they didnt take them lightly. Just looking at the boxscores and reading the articles, it seems Wisconsin was down huge in the first half, but actually was able to come back and make it competitive. Ill just write it off to 2 things, 1) Wisconsin played a good team, but they need to be ready to take every teams best punch if they want to stay a top 15 team, 2) I can understand coming out sluggish the morning after Thanksgiving. 1-15 shooting from 3 is just not going to get it done, but that is something Wisconsin can work on.
  8. It sucks that Wisconsin lost, but they went 1-15 from the 3 point line so the fact they only lost by 2 is not so bad. Also it has to be brutal to have a game the Friday after Thanksgiving before 12 in the morning. I didnt see the game at all, but most Wisconsin boards that I read said that this game would be a test. Bad news is they lost, good news is that its not even 2007 yet so might as well take a few close loses now and grow.
  9. Zito and MB have very little chance at realistically getting 300 wins. 20 wins per season for 10 more years? They have already played some of their peak years and were not getting 20 wins.
  10. Most of the games he won earlier in the season he also pitched well in. I just think that Freddy and Javy will have as good of years as Zito and Schimdt compared to the price. Both of those guys are going to get 13mil+, probably even higher depending on how crazy it goes. Javy was the 5th starter he was brought in so that they could help fix him. He was on the team for 1 season, and now everyone wants to dump him for a low price. The White Sox invested in Javy and need to see if that investment will pan off this year. They saw improvement last year as the season progressed, so hopefully he can keep that up this year. As for the DH, Javy has shown he can handle the AL. He just needs to cut down on mistakes and he will be a top of the rotation starter. The Sox have shown they can fix players mentally, and the results usually show in year 2.
  11. Its a pretty big leap to say that Garcia is a far better pitcher than Vazquez ever has been. Career: 252 1643.2 1584 775 191 529 1202 116 71 0 103.6 1.29 .252 4.01 290 1845.2 1859 961 246 493 1602 100 105 0 101.8 1.27 .260 4.34 The top is Freddy, bottom Vaz. What is striking about those numbers is that Vaz has less walks then Freddy with 200 more ip. Also they are a fraction different in whip, yet there is a much bigger difference in era. I think this has to do with the fact Vaz never seems to get good play behind him. Many times this year Vaz gave up big innings after the Sox screwed him with defense. That being said, I would not really want to trade either Freddy or Vaz. I think they are different types of pitchers who both are durable and have shown that they can pitch a full season. Im willing to give Vaz another year before selling low, so I would personally trade Count, or stand pat. The only reason I defend Vaz is because its "fashionable" to blame everything on him. When I believe he pitched pretty well down the stretch.
  12. I dont understand why people expected Javy to be able to change leagues 3 times in 3 years and not have some trouble adjusting. Next year he will be one of the top 3 Sox starters. Also he has been very durable in his career.
  13. Knight, For Florida to win the SEC they will have to win some big games, so that will put their SOS up higher. Im of the opinion the game should be UM v OSU, unless another team earns the berth. Only OSU is undefeated, and of all the 1 loss teams, UM's came to the best team. I think there is a better than 50% chance of a rematch, and I think it will be one of the biggest bowl games ever.
  14. Im unbiased as a Wisconsin fan, since both OSU and UM are rival Big 10 teams. I would prefer OSU against UM to almost any other game because I believe that they are the 2 best teams in college. In a perfect scenario, this year would have been the year where OSU and UM did not play in Big 10 (although I think as a rivalry game they are gauranteed), instead OSU would have played Wisconsin or something, and both would have gone into the NC undefeated. But that did not happen, and at the end of the day OSU and UM had to play at OSU. See that is the first reason why UM getting a rematch is not so absurd. UM played at OSU, and lost by 3 points, which is the + or - for a home game. Yes Michigan was being beaten most of the game, but the whole "OSU committed turnovers etc" argument is bogus. That is part of the game, I could argue if only Wisconsin had not muffed a punt that we would have beaten UM and thus Wisconsin is merely 1 play away from being in the NC. But those turnovers did happen, and whether or not they were purely mental or just crap plays (ie a shotgun snap fumble) they are part of the game. Second, any team that lost to UM can not be considered a better match for OSU. ND lost to UM at ND, so they are out of the picture. If USC beats ND in a similar fashion to UM, then I could see USC being a legitimate 2. Otherwise I have no problem with the 2 best teams playing a second time. It has happened before Florida versus FSU, where FSU beat them in the regular season and then lost in the bowl game. I wonder what some OSU fans would be saying if UM had recovered the onside and won the game. Would they be so opposed to a rematch against UM, or is all of this "no rematch" talk just trying to make sure OSU wins the NC, regardless of whether they have to play the next best team in the title game. I personally dont care who wins the NC as long as they are Big 10. What I do care about is watching high quality college football games. And an UM- OSU NC game would be an amazing game.

    PS3

Sony will do everything it can to spike production after Christmas. All they care about is a huge buzz, its not like they make any money off after retail sale. So for a few months they will artificially decrease supply while the demand is at its highest, hoping that the hype demand effect will push sales for the entire year. Its a gamble, because generally Sony would want its highest supply at the highest time of demand, but they are trying to create a "buzz" and make PS3 a hot item, so that in a few months the people who were not dieing to get a PS3 are not chosing Wii or Xbox 360. $600 is still a lot for a gaming console and in my opinion that is why Sony is keeping supply low. They want people to see outrageous prices on ebay etc and say "$600 is cheap." In Japan the cheaper Ps3 has already been dropped by $100, it will be interesting to see after Christmas if it does the same in the US. Over the long term Sony will be hurt by the high price, they are just trying to see how many they can sell at the highest point.
  16. I live in Chicago, so it would be north for me. And Im ashamed to say that I actually have never been to 1 Wisconsin Basketball game, I used to have season tickets for football, but never Basketball. I always watch them on tv though, and against Marquette I know that it will be close. Should be an interesting season, its the first time Wisconsin has had any hype in a preseason so hopefully they dont mess it up and choke.
  17. When I saw the score I thought it had to be a mistake. Then I kept thinking they must of been talking women's basketball.
  18. I think that if any team got into a NC title game having lost to another 1 loss team who isnt in the game, it would be a travesty. UM beat ND at ND, UM has to be higher ranked if they both finish with only 1 loss. Michigan soundly beat ND, atleast Wisconsin only lost by 14 points but I would not be so crazy as to say Wisconsin should get in. If Michigan and OSU are the 2 best teams, I have no problem seeing them play another great game, as compared to both of them beating 2 inferior teams.

Auto revive= phoenix Basically to beat ruby and emerald you need to go crazy leveling your materia, so that you get extra ones. As for PS3, Im hoping to get one. Also want to get the Wii I need a new job.
  20. I believe that quote was pulled from "talkbigten.com" which is the bigten site of this board. So far in this thread, Ive been told multiple times Im failing to see things when Ive stated that Illinois will have a hard time breaking into the upper echelon of the Big 10. I dont know what else to say, but it seems that many Illini fans think quite differently. My posts are to those who think 2 good recruiting years will mean a big 10 title. I have no doubt that Illinois has a chance to be in the top half of the Big 10. In reality there are only 2 teams who consistently compete for the championship, and then there are another 3 depending on the year, who may compete. It also has been a very down year for the Big 10 outside of the Big 2 and arguably Wisconsin, so who knows what will happen next year.
  21. People keep quoting me and then saying: "Your failing to see something." Every time I have said that Illinios will be able to get into the upper half of the Big 10, but that it will be very hard to break into the elite. They then respond how I dont undertsand its been 2 full seasons of top 25 recruits. Otherwise why do people keep saying that Im missing something? {Edit} And I agree with Rex's posts, the implications are that Benn etc will make Illinois Big 10 title contenders.
  22. Im not failing to see anything. Illini fans just seem to think 2 recruiting classes will put them on the level of Michigan and OSU. This is not basketball.
  23. Hope Boras understands the Japanese court system, because the posting system would be insulated from US anti-trust law. As MLB has an anti-trust exemption (think about drafts, which are in essence restraint of trade) he would be out of luck in US courts. Now I dont know a lick about Japanese law, but my guess is that the Japanese courts would protect Japanese baseball and approve of the posting system. Otherwise Japanese baseball would be raided for free.
  24. I think WIsconsin could have lost, but played well enough to win. Eventhough Donovan played admirably, Iowa still stacked the line to contain the wisconsin run game. Any game you can win on the road with your back up qb against a team you have had problems with the last few years, is a win you take regardless. I think the biggest thing was Langford being injured. Almost every big play Iowa had was against some white guy cb that had never played before. 2 big turnovers kept Iowa in the game, but Wisconsin's O-line was giving Donovan all day, and were starting to work the run game before Hill fumbled.
