I wish I could get 1 crack at him. I think the way to trip him up is about the comments he made on Fox news about never drinking so much he couldnt remember. I also would ask some really uncomfortable questions to get him off track. (edit) And I think that is what infuriates me most about Bighurt3515 line of questioning toward the victim. Kavanaugh has said some real whoppers lately, and Republican's just seem to be completely ignoring the fact that the guy seems to be at minimum lying about his drinking habits.

I was referring to the main accuser who is on the stand today. But irrespective of whether the girl is 15 or 20, its the same situation.
-
Its just hard to understand the culture unless youve seen it. No 15 year old girl going to their parents against Kavanaugh. His mom was a judge, his circle of friends would rally together and call her a liar. Her life would be over at 15. There are rules in those societies. If you rat, its over for you. It would be more than social suicide, the ramifications would probably have followed her for life.

Because its not a crime what she did. The alleged sexual assault that took place against her and others is a crime. Its pretty clear that you dont really understand the mental mindset of people who are victims of abuse. And it doesnt matter what the majority of people do, the majority of people dont witness a rape in their lifetime.

I am going to guess the statute of limitations has run on most of these claims. https://wjla.com/news/nation-world/kavanaugh-says-he-wont-let-false-accusations-push-him-out According to this article in 1982 sol in Maryland was 1 year and couldnt be prosecuted. (edit) https://www.ctpost.com/local/article/Connecticut-considers-changes-to-sexual-assault-12759764.php And the ones in CT (from Yale) are also outside of SOL.

It really isnt that hard to believe. Thankfully in the days of my youth my bad behavior didnt extend to violating girls, but I can definitely say that in other circles there were definitely guys who did that type of stuff. And there were groups of girls that seemed to be the targets. SWIM was at a friends house when a girl took some acid. Some time later she was in the basement with her pants off. Since SWIM's circle of friends werent too horrific, a few other girls there took her into the bathroom and everyone made sure she was safe. Not everyone is so lucky.

I didnt compare him to Alex Smith, someone else brought up Alex Smith. I said that Trubisky needs to have a positive td/int ratio... -

Guess it depends on how you define "good". Smith's first year he had 60% completion, 3k yards, 23/7 int. If Trubisky has those type of numbers hell be fine. Again its early in the season and Trubisky has a lot of games to prove himself, but Smith's numbers were good to start. Last year his numbers were arguably excellent as he had the highest rate and rate+ of any QB in the league, plus threw for 4k yards. The Bears cant expect that type of production, but they absolutely need Trubisky to put up a positive td/int ratio. -

I have no problem with the offense in general. I just think that if Trubisky doesnt show improvement this year he should have to compete for the starting job next year. I just cant agree with handing him the starting job because he was the #2 pick. -

I dont think there is a problem being patient, I just think that if Trubisky hasnt shown improvement the Bears need to strongly consider bringing someone in to compete for the job. You cant get married to the fact he was #2 overall. That cost is sunk, you have to make decisions that improve your future. If you can get a veteran/young QB who outplays Trubisky next year, you have to go that route. That is why the acquisition of Mack changed the entire trajectory of Trubisky's career with the Bears. For the record Ive never been a big Trubisky fan and its well detailed in the draft thread from that year. I hope he proves me wrong. -
I am just having it installed my new place today. I dont move in there until Saturday haha. I mostly got it for convenience. My new place has 2 independent heating/cooling systems, so I want to be able to control them from my phone.

Ive thought a lot about the trade. And (imo) its pretty problematic for Trubisky's tenure with the Bears. Getting Mack is a win (now) soon move. I can definitely see the Bears going after someone who Nagy likes next year in FA to compete with him. Trubisky really needs to get it together this year, because I dont think the Bears can just sit around and hope he develops more next year. -
Got Nest thermostats for my new place, but now thinking maybe I should have gone ecobee. Doesnt seem to be a huge difference so whatever. Only tip I have is that if you have multiple thermostats, buy directly from Comed marketplace. Google only would give 1 $100 rebate, but when you buy directly from comed theyll give you a $100 rebate on up to 2 thermostats. It works for both nest and ecobee.

In a criminal case the accuser is in the same room. Imo the trauma shell face if she doesn't show is way worse then sitting next to him and testifying. They are making it difficult on her for sure, but once she went public she had to see it through to the end. I just dont see how not showing up ends better.
-
I think she needs to show up and testify. If youre going to start this, you have to finish it. I understand her hesitation, but (imo) this ends worse for her if she no shows.

Rauner cost the state over $1bil in late fees by refusing to pass budgets last year. The only way to pay for pensions you are worried about is increasing taxes and finding new revenue streams. Rauner isnt going to do that. Also Rauner is proposing an idea which would lesson the states responsibility to pay for teacher pensions, which would almost assuredly be a much greater risk to your wife's pension than anything Pritzker will ever propose.

Without seeing the documents its impossible to know anything. There may be things like rights of first refusal etc, but without the partnership agreement its purely a guess.

If anyone has questions on Disneyworld I just spent over a week there. Or if they want information on how it compares to Disneyland as I went there last year. Too bad Star Wars land wont be until next year, but at least I got to avoid what is going to be insane crowds.

Nagy's play calling is helping Trubisky. The problem seems to be after the first read. The only thing Nagy could possibly do is run floods or other calla that dont require Trubisky to scan the field. But the worry with that is it Trubisky doesnt look off defenders hes throwing into a small space with a lot of guys around. I have a lot or hot takes about what Nagy thinks of Trubisky. He has a season to get it together, but Nagy needs to be Nagy. -
I agree. Also Germany is a big market as well. The US is really crippling its domestic companies with their outdated laws. When/if marijuana becomes legal, I expect some major alcohol or tobacco companies will look to buy/partner with some of these Canadian companies. It just makes too much sense, which is why I think the 3 major ones are pretty safe bets.
-
Im kicking myself a little because I was watching the 3 I mentioned for a while and could have gotten in really low on all of them. I didnt make a move until after the Seagrams deal and when some mainstream "investment" blogs/websites started pumping them. I personally think its going to be like the tech bubble. If you got in early, didnt risk huge sums, youll probably get a good return. But I think that some of these are going to eventually crash hard when the dust settles.
-
SS2K, Cronos is a Canadian company and does not sell in the US. Its about to become legal at the federal level in Canada (which is why they are all going up.) Seagrams bought a huge stake in Canopy and rumors are other major beer/liquor companies are considering large stacks in companies like Tilray or Cronos. If it ever became legal in the US, these companies are going to have massive advantages in breaking into the US market. Cronos is also supplying to Germany. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/investment-ideas/nasdaq-to-get-first-pot-listing-as-cronos-group-joins-exchange/article38110213/ So the US enforcement wont impact Cronos at all because they actually dont sell any product here.
-
Not sure if there is a term, I just refer to them as marijuana stocks. I bought Cronos a few weeks back. Tilray and Canopy Growth are also good, I just felt they had already popped a bit.

People at Skynet already had the right to speak individually or collectively. Its no different than saying the Robot had the right to vote because it was created by humans. How does it make sense that individuals who are not part of a corporation can have their contributions capped? That seems to be giving more rights to the corporation than to regular individuals. /shrugs A corporation is a thing like a robot. Citizens United granted rights to a thing. The next step would be granting rights to a robot, because as you said, both are non human entities created by humans. I The people of corporations, should have the same rights as people not in corporations. If I can only donate X amount of dollars, why should the corporation be able to donate more than X?
-
Irony in that skynet comment as it was conservative judges who gave corporations the rights regularly reserved to people (Citizens United.) And the constitution has some good ideas, but 1789 society is nothing like today. In many states 3-5% of the people voted. Most states had rules that made it so only land holding white males could vote. Hopefully we can tweak some things. Reps in house need to be increased again so that its more proportional to population. I think Supreme Court should be opened up to voters. There are plenty of improvements to be made.
