  1. I was shocked people kept telling me they were going to get Bears playoff tickets. I honestly didnt even wake up to try, because if the White Sox sold out, then you know the Bears with only 1 game and a much bigger fan base are going to sell out. I was suprised they even had tickets for sale really, Bears have no problems filling up. SB
  2. It was nice to see even a half healthy Wisconsin D-Line was able to vastly improve the Baders defense. If the Badgers dont lose Calhoun, they will have a legitimate shot at winning the Big 10 next year. SB
  3. Brandon Williams is going to be good. Id say a less polished Lee Evans, and depending on what he runs in the 40, he may be a 1st round pick. If the Bears could get him in the 2nd, I think he would be a very nice slot receiver, and he can return. SB
  4. Harris is a good player. Every game he plays you know what you are going to get. He takes pitches, he gets on base, and has above average defensive skills. When you have speed and the 3 latter things, you are going to have a spot on a mlb club. SB
  5. This may not be Lou Brock bad, but if the Cubs trade Prior, they will never live it down. When you have a $100 million payroll, you do not trade top pitching talent. Prior is top 5 pitcher every year. He is young, he is dominant, and he has barely even scratched the surface of what he will accomplish. I love Tejada, but when you read Canseco's book and then look at his stats this season, then look at Palmeiro's statement, you have to wonder will Tejada ever be the same player? The only way Im the Cubs and make this trade is if Wood is going. I hope it goes down, because it will set back the Cubs years. SB
  6. The best part was when he said that part of the reprecussions by the league would be: "Maybe they will suspend me for the last week." And hopefully for my fantasy team he scores a few times.
  7. Yeah I got some dilemmas too. For RB I have: Dillon, Portis, Carnell Williams, Fred Taylor and Rueben Droughns and no flex position so only 2 can start. Leaning towards Droughns and some one because of defensive match ups. As for WR, I have to decide between Andre Johnson, Roy Williams, and Dante Stallworth for my 3rd spot (have Chad Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald Starting). Also have Darrel Jackson but dont like starting players right off injury. Last is Trent Green versus Warner, think Im going with Warner. SB
  8. Why get rid of Garland? I can think of $55million reasons. The reality is, I wanted to stick with Garland because I felt he would eventually turn the corner and become a good pitcher. This year he did turn the corner, and he proved that he can be a top of the rotation pitcher. But he is not a dominant #1, and when you watch him pitch many games he still gets dangerously close to giving up that one huge inning. Now as for why to trade him now? It is mainly based on speculation. I believe that the White Sox have tried to get a contract extension done with Garland. I believe that Garland has basically said that he is not going to resign and will test the free agent market. If Garland tests the free agent market and has any sort of success this year, he will definitely not be in the White Sox price range. Thus if you believe that Garland is going to be good to great, the White Sox need to trade him now, or at the All-Star break, unless they can get him resigned. If you believe that Garland will regress, then now is the best time to trade him as well. Garland will almost undoubtedly get Matt Morris money, which means even if he pitches average, the White Sox are going to have to pay over $8mil a year. Garland has made no suggestion that the White Sox are the team he wants to be with or play with, so there is no reason to believe we will be getting discounts. With the addition of Vazquez, Garland is arguably the White Sox 3rd to 5th starter. If the White Sox can move Garland to get a great offensive talent, the White Sox can vastly improve their offense, while still having depth at pitching. Just because the Red Sox and Yankees did not break the bank this year, does not mean they wont next year. Pitching prices are insane, and if you cant resign him before FA, you might as well get more than type A compensation. SB
  9. I like it Vazquez has top of the rotation stuff and just has not seemed comfortable after leaving Montreal. With Ozzie as the manager Javier could find his place and be the dominant starter that he has the talent for. Ive wanted Vazquez for a while, and the only person Im sad to see go is Young. But if our rotation is: 1. MB 2. Freddy 3. Garland 4. Contreras 5. Vazquez I can live with a prospect being traded. For any of those pitchers or McCarthy we can probably get a very similar prospect to Young, or even better. But dumping Duke and replacing him with Vazquez is brilliance. SB
  10. Canseco's book explicitly states that Tejada is a user. Which is why Raffy pointed at Tejada, because he knew Tejada had used in the past. SB
  11. Im suprised threads like this still exist. You just dont give up on a guy who is young talented and cheap. Reminds me of the Garland threads last year how we should just give him away. Or like those Konerko threads mid year about how he was the worst team player. SB
  12. Tom Brady is an interesting comparison. Considering Grossman is nothing like Brady. Grossman is the most talented Florida QB, that I ever saw during Spurrier's generation. Most of them were gimmick QB's who hit wide open WR's, Weurffel. Grossman is a talented QB who almost won the heisman as a Sophmore. Unfortunately Spurrier left him his Junior year and Grossman decided not to enter the draft. He regressed some what under Zook, and then went to the draft. How does that compare to Brady or Orton? We know what Orton has to offer, Grossman should be able to offer more. SB
  13. Bet you that GB offered a pretty fair contract and Rosenhaus told Walker not to take it and to hold out. Now Walker is injured and who knows what type of contract he will get. If I was a WR I would not want myself to be represented by any agent who already represented a prolific WR. Its just a conflict of interest that can never be resolved, and Im sure that Walker feels had Rosenhaus been spending the same amount of time on him as TO, that he would have a contract. SB
  14. Prior is much better than Abreu. His injuries have been more than anything bad luck. Every year Prior is going to have a chance at being the Cy Young. If I were the Cubs id offer Wood for Abreu, take it or leave it. Some one will trade a hitter for Wood, especially if the Cubs take on most of the contract. SB
  15. What do you expect Kenny to say? We absolutely need Pierre, Ozzie loves him and wont stop b****ing at me to trade for him. Thatll help negotations. SB
  16. In college one of my best girl friends had a roomate who was a Jehova's witness. I think the part that really got me was something along the lines of: "There are only 140,000 spaces in heaven and almost all of them are already taken, what we are offering is a place on Earth after armageddon." http://www.watchman.org/profile/jwpro.htm SB
  17. I cant believe people are still saying Orton is better than Grossman. How many sub 50 Qb ratings does Orton need to put up? SB
  18. Dont say Knightni sent you, Say Soxbadger sent you. He is the Reds and has nothing good to offer, Im the A's and have plenty of great prospects to trade you! hehe Anyways its a pretty fun if anyone is interested please join. SB
  19. The best Sox player of my lifetime and my favorite. Good luck, perhaps the next time we see you in a Sox jersey it will be going into the Hall of Fame. One of the best ever, its a shame he was injured last year and could not really play in the World Series. Of all the Sox players he deserved to be there. SB
  20. There is a big difference between Konerko and Doug. 1) Konerko has been on the Sox for years, Doug only half a season. 2) Konerko got a $12mil per year contract. 3) The Red Sox are lame, the White Sox rule. SB
  21. Wow this is awesome. It would of really hurt to lose Konerko. But now getting Thome and keeping Konerko has made this offseason awesome. SB
  22. Id offer 5 years at $65 and hope that was enough to get the job done. SB
  23. My heart hurts for Rowand, but my head wonders if pitchers would finally find out that the slider down and away really is a weakness. Gio I really think I highly of, and the only reason the Sox were probably willing to give him up is because they see Buerhle, Garland, Garcia, and McCarthy in the future for the next few years, and hope to have found another few pitchers by then. Where as Thome is immediate power. Haigwood could go either way, I think he could be a good innings eater, but whether or not hell be a top player could go either way. I think the trade could be a win for both teams. If Thome produces as he can, the White Sox wont care what they gave up. (EDIT) As always Rex has said it better than I ever could have. SB
  24. Id love Ichiro, and it would be amazing to have him on the White Sox. Id be willing to move Anderson or another OF prospect, plus other young talent to get the job done. I would not want to trade any SP, outside of El Duque, and anyone in the pen outside of Marte and Vizcaino. Ichiro would just be unbelievable. SB
