Bears impending QB "controversy"?
Soxbadger replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Yeah but Grossman is capable of doing what Orton is doing, but also has the potential to do much more. I have seen Grossman and Orton play, Grossman is the better quarterback in my opinion. SB -
Hey Steff, the real estate group that owns the parking lots doesnt happen to be Reinsdorf's group does it? Just does not seem to make sense that a real estate guy like Reisndorf would let those pieces of property slip through the cracks, and not be part of the original sale of the Chicago White Sox. It also intrigues me because some of the lots are where Old Comiskey was, which means the Sox had to have owned them at the time the new park was built. So did they sell them? Or did they just put them into a different corporation or LLC. I have no information myself, so I was just wondering. I figured the White Sox owned the entire area and could do whatever they wanted with it. If you dont know the answers its no big deal, just kind of an interesting side bar. SB

Bears impending QB "controversy"?
Soxbadger replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Grossman > Orton And I have never heard any sort of scouting report that said Grossman was to small to be an NFL QB. In fact I believe that prior to entering the NFL, Grossman had suffered 0 injuries. Compare that to Orton who had some injuries in college and the argument just gets more and more ridiculous. Grossman has had a string of bad luck, starting with Spurrier leaving him to play under Zook. Zook completely decimated that offense and Grossman left after his junior year some what less NFL ready than he was after his Sophmore year. When Grossman finally can get on the field, he should be quality. SB -

Eventhough I dislike ND, to be fair you have to discount the loss to USC. If most of the other teams that you are asking about played USC, they would also have 2 losses. That is just giving credit where it is due, and honestly I do not think PSU is that great. They beat Wisconsin, but even as bad as Wisconsin played PSU never could really finish and it was a home game for them. There is a legitimate chance PSU will not beat MSU. SB -

Thanks for all the good times Alvarez. But, I hope they have a shotgun formation next year. Its pretty pathetic to watch a team that expects to win throwing the ball not even run 1 play out of the shotgun. Pretty hard to watch, but what are you going to do. Rome was not built in a day. SB -
I think the Eagles would have a worse record with Farve than McNabb. McNabb brings more to the table, and Im not actually sure Farve would be that great in the Eagles offense. SB

Wisconsin never gets any recruitment recognition and they have done consistently well for the last 5+ years. In my opinion, Illinois will never be part of the UNC, Duke, etc of the worlds where each year they can go out and get the best talent. They will have to beat teams with a better system and players who understand how to win in a system. I personally think Illinois long term would have more consistent success that way. Right now NCAA basketball is about to enter a new frontier with players having to stay a mandatory amount of time. Part of me feels that teams with players who are just doing their time, will have more problems than teams who have players who are going to stay 3-4 years. SB -

We beat OSU the last time we played them, so im not sure what your point is. You play the games that are on your schedule. Im sure right now 100% of Wisconsin fans would have preferred to play OSU over NU. In fact I would prefer that we always played the best Big 10 teams, and perhaps a team like NU was dropped from the schedule. But that just is not how it is. SB -
I thought people would be happy. AL Central have the 1,2 teams. Pretty drastic change from last year where the White Sox were generally picked in the middle or bottom half of both leagues. I think its pretty fair, all things being considered the Indians and White Sox are very good objective picks. SB

They beat Wisconsin by 3 points, and had Stocko not thrown the interception at the end, likely would have lost to Wisconsin. It was not the Wisconsin offense that lost to Northwestern, it was the defense. There is no excuse for giving up 48 points against Northwestern. My belief is that Wisconsin looked past NU and that is what nipped em, but there is no point in crying over the past. But then again, I believe that the Wisconsin offense could score more than 48 points if they got to play the Wisconsin defense. We shall see what happens, but I would prefer losing to NU 1 time and winning the Big 10. As compared to beating Wisconsin and maybe making a bowl game. SB -

I do not think you can really compare total yards, points, etc, because each offense runs a different system, and each game is played on a different day. Wisconsin's system is to put the ball in the rb's hand as much as possible. That is not conducive to scoring points like throwing the ball every down, or using large amounts of play fakes, etc. But I do think Wisconsin's talent is the greatest in the Big 10, and that in combination with their system, they are almost unstoppable on any given day. I do not think any other team in the Big 10 has the same capabilities on the ground and in the air as Wisconsin. Also their 2nd rb, would start for many teams in the Big 10. SB -

Wisconsin's defense has suffered a tremendous amount of injuries, and lost a significant amount of players. They are all very young and can not really play well against ball fakes. That means it probably is going to be a high scoring affair versus Penn State. I will say that Wisconsin's offense is the best in the Big 10. SB -
Rumor: AL Playoff OF tests positive for steroids

Explain how you can be libelous with facts. If some one was caught, and then part of the appeal process, you can not be libelous. Not to mention each of these players are public figures, so they would have to prove malice. Malice in terms of libel and defamation, means with actual knowledge. IE They would have to know for a fact that this player absolutely never did roids, and if the prosecution could not prove that the case would be won by the defense. How do you think tabloids work? The reason he didnt leak a name is because hed be fired. Im suprised he could leak this much and not be fired. SB -

And I would say of all the teams in the playoffs, the least likely outfield to be using steroids is the White Sox. Rowands hr's declined. Dye did about the same. Pods is speed. Unless Pods was using it for his hamstring, it just does not seem to make sense. SB -

Until there is an actual name and a suspension, this thread is worthless. I still can remember around the All-Star break when every insider was 100% certain that 2 MLB players were going to be caught for steriods. Not one player was caught. SB -
The day the White Sox signed Iguchi I knew they were for real this season. It was not a 15mil free agent, but it was the necessary piece. SB

He got booed by some people. A person close to me yelled out Cell Phones suck too. lol Sb

One day Im going to fondly remember the days when I could just decide I wanted to see the Sox play and not worry about tickets. Its the price of success. SB

I took about 50-60 pics from various locations and about 2minutes of video. First saw the parade at Jackson, then ran to Monroe, then went to Wacker and watched the rally. The speacker on the East side of Lasalle kept breaking and if you were on that side you could not see the tv screens. Luckily when people got to move closer to Lasalle I jumped the metal fencing and went with them and got decently close for pictures. Not sure how they will turn out. And at certain points people were yelling at this kid who had a sign that was blocking view, and they booed US Cellular rep. The sign absolutely sucked it said: Win or Dye Hitting. Which makes no sense as the or means if they are winning then Dye isnt hitting, or if they are losing Dye is hitting. The proper sign would of been Win and Dye Hitting. But it was a jackass kid. SB

KW you made me look good, thank you for that. Every year I know that you are going to go out andt try to make something happen. That is all you can ask, and this year the biggest move you made was the ones you left on the table. The White Sox did not have to sell any of the future to win this year. That is being a good GM, you win this year and set your team up for the next few years. KW you the man. SB
-
That is why they play the games. Barely any expert picked the White Sox to do much this year. I fear in the future what the Indians and Tigers might become, but for now the White Sox are on top, and no amount of future will ever change that. Thanks for making the White Sox earn this season when your team could have turned it in. If it was not for the Indians pushing the White Sox this year, there is a chance that this may not have ever happened. SB
