Marte just needs to throw strikes. I dont care if he gets beat, I care if he walks people and does his general hitting batters s***.
-
Jenks has realized its much easier for him to control his off speed pitches when he throws them harder. Ive never really seen him throw that pitch before, but whatever gets the job done. SB

How can you determine what Paul is worth without first seeing the market? In simple supply and demand terms, There is a greater demand for 40hr+ 1b, than there is a supply. So I expect Paul to have a generous market value this year. Perhaps if there were other free agents it may not be this way, but looking at Sexons contract, you have to think Konerko is in line for 10+mil. SB

I dont think Young will be picked over Leinart. SB -
I love how people react to these threads. Konerko's father can say whatever he wants. Konerko's father is not playing, he is not hitting, nor in the end will he be signing the contract. This thread is entirely speculation, not to mention who knows the intention, original context of the question, etc. We will see what happens, and if Konerko is offered a contract that is comparable to the other offers, I believe he will take the White Sox offer. That is home town discount, giving your team the edge in bargaining. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept of home town discount, perhaps some reading on the Astros will do the trick. I believe both Pettite and Clemens, rejected much more favorable deals to come to the Astros. Also I believe Andruw Jones made a similar deal. While none of them came "cheap", they all signed for undermarket value. Which should be the real definition of home town discount. SB

It hurts the NL much more than the AL. AL pitchers are used to pitching against 9 batters every game, they do not have the luxury of walking the 8th batter to get to the pitcher. Therefore when games are played at NL stadiums the AL has a distinct advantage in pitching. And when the game is played at AL stadiums the NL has a disadvantage in that there pitchers are not used to having to face 9 real batters. The Astros played at 3 AL teams during the regular season, Texas, Balt, and KC. They were 2-7 in those games, only winning at KC. Outside of the KC series, they only 1 time held an AL offense to under 5 runs at an AL park. SB

It appears that I can buy: A) A flat screen hd tv to watch the baseball game. B) World series tickets. Pretty insane. SB
-
Yeah I was in right away, got through both words, and no tickets. Might of been able to snag 1 or 2, but I was going for 4 because of my sister and I got shut out. Anyone here have an extra ticket? I will sell my soul. SB
-
On my first try I got the second verification word and by then they were already sold out. This was within the first minute for game 1. Yikes. Anyone have 4 tickets for a White Sox fan? SB

Rex Jon Kruk made that statement on ESPN. Not sure if some one else posted it, but that is where you might have seen it. SB

Remember that thread about whether KW would get fired if they did not make the playoffs. Where did all those people go? SB

Wisconsin not even a vote for the top 25. But then again, pre-season ranks are all about flash. Should be another interesting year. SB -
Yeah I always talk about how inept the the Disney ownership was in that respect. I can only imagine how the paths would have changed if we had Erstad and they had Garland. SB
-
Im so happy that Garland got to finish the game. The whole ninth I just kept hoping Ozzie would let him finish the job. He earned the chance to finish, and he did not disapoint. Also how the hell can you favor the Angels in a Garcia v Fake Santana, both gave up 3 earned in 5 their last starts. If I had to be a betting man, I say Garcia comes up huge tomorrow. SB
-
I can remember when it was vogue to post that we should trade Garland. I always knew he could be this good, the reality is, he can be better. Should of been a shut out, and I hope that the Garland realizes that he was 1 pitch away from that. SB
-
And he does not even do good research. I do not remember AJ being divisive with the Twins, he was traded mostly because of Mauer, not because of any bad things that happened. He didnt get the rap until San Fran, and it was mostly because of Tomko. SB

The best view of the "trap" is super slow mo frame by frame from the centerfield angle. In one frame the ball will appear in the lower part of the glove almost touching the ground, and then in the next frame the ball is in a higher part of the glove. To me that indicates that the ball hit the dirt and then bounced up. It is the only angle that could possibly have the answer because the glove blocks all other angles. SB

Nuke they are exactly right. Had Paul saw the ump make the alleged "out" call, then they would have a valid argument that they relied on it. But Paul threw the ball out when the only call the ump had made was the "swing and miss" call. With out audio it is impossible to tell the whole story, but I think that AJ heard something that indicated he was not out yet. And by the time that indication came, Paul had already thrown the ball so the Angels were committed to the "he caught the ball" story. I think the replay shows that AJ started running after the ball was already out of Paul's hand. SB
-
I believe that the ball was trapped. But I do not believe anyone would be willing to bet significant amount of money either way. It was a judgement call, you have to play it out. Paul flipped the ball before the ump even made the final strike call. There is no excuse for that, and if it happened to the Sox, I would be pissed at the catcher for not completing the play. SB
-
I said this right off the bat. There is a clear change in direction of the ball, it bounces up. Now it is possible that it bounces in the lower part of the mitt and goes to the upper part, but it shows that there is no certainty about the call. It was a judgement call, and even with the high tech equipment there is no absolute answer. I believe the reason we got the call is that the White Sox showed hussle on the play, where as the Angels were just taking the strike out for granted. SB
-
The only thing that matters is what the umpires decide at the end. If he called drop third strike you are out, and then turned around to realize that the ball was actually at the backstop, do you think that the game would be over on the technicality that he called him officially out? No, its just like any other play, its not over until all the umpires come out and decide its over. SB
-
That is what I am saying. The super slow motion replay suggests that the ball did hit the ground. Either way it was a call that 9 out of 10 times goes against the batter. SB
-
Also the ball was trapped. On the replay you can see the ball bounce up into the mit, which indicates it was not caught cleanly. It was a really close call, the White Sox caught a break. But there is a chance it was the right call anyways. SB

Why is Ozuna always PR instead of Harris? SB

Buehrle did his job. Mental errors in 2 games now have really cost us. Just need to some how get a run across. SB
