Duke came up big, Marte is expendable. Add Brandon, and we are all happy. I think Duke is healthy and it is showing. He may not always have the stuff, but he will always compete and that is great for a reliever. SB

There are a lot of problems here for Curry. 1) He will not be able to sue his agent. In the end an agent would have to do something that his principal did not want to incur liability on himself. So far there is no indication that Curry wanted to accept the Bulls offer, told his Agent to accept the offer, and then the agent went and did not accept the offer. Agency law is pretty simple and generally agents are not liable for their actions if they are doing what the principal told them. Curry is the principal by the way. 2) Arbitration. This will be a very very sticky subject. If Curry tries to go to arbitration he could very easily be forced to take a DNA test. The Bulls are going to present it in the following fashion: We like Curry, we want Curry, but we are not going to let Curry play if there is a substantial risk of him being severely injured. They are going to say that it would be bad policy to allow players to play with out having to go through rigorous medical exam's, especially after the player has already had a serious condition. 3) What will the NBA do? If the NBA or Bulls allow Curry to play with out a DNA test or with out a Dr clearing him, they could possibly incur liability. This is why things will get very complicated. The NBA, Bulls, etc are on notice that Curry has a potentially serious condition. The NBA, Bulls, as employers have a duty to keep Curry safe. By allowing Curry to play with out proper clearance, you could argue that they were negligent. The NBA, Bulls should force Curry to sign a waiver if he wants to play with out a DNA test. The pertinent sections should say that both the NBA and Bulls did not want to let Curry play with out proper medical exams, and that the only reason they are allowing Curry to play is because it is his own health he is putting in jeapordy. Also include that the NBA and Bulls will have no liability should anything occur and that Curry and his estate will get 0. When placed in such a corner, that he can have a $5mil contract with 0 guarantee, versus the $200k-$400k per year for 20-40, it will be hard to turn down the guaranteed money. This will be a very hard and complicated issue because it has large ramifications for sports in general. QB's with concussions could be in the same boat, where they want to play, but there are Dr's saying that there is a substantial risk of injury. SB -

No it wont be an impasse. It will be Curry has to accept whatever he is offered. The Knicks were Curry's shot at a big contract with out a DNA test. If he fails the NY physical, who is going to pay him big money? The answer is only a team that is in desperate need of making a splash. If the deal is rescinded the Bulls have all the negotiating power, because if he failed the NY physical, he probably will not pass any other teams physical. Meaning that he needs to get a DNA test so that the Bulls will pay him. SB -
Wells actually wanted to come back, saying he owed the White Sox. But after the Thomas thing I dont think anyone really wanted him back. And I thought we traded Mike Sirotka for him? Not that he signed as a free agent. So he never had a choice of Boston or NY. SB

I mean if you really want to start a conspiracy theory, What was the deal with the proxy server error. Without facts its hard to really say there was foul play, it does seem suspicious though that so many people who tried did not even get 1 ticket. At work we had multiple computers going and each got the proxy server error, then the time would go down and back up, then it kicked some out, and finally when we got through it was gone. SB
-
What is worse is the White Sox do not make extra off the brokers, unless they set up a Cubs scam. You should probably contact the White Sox first and tell them in the future they should do things to assure that a single person (entity) does not get multiple tickets. That way even if a broker gets them it will only be a few as opposed to thousands. There has to be some sort of kick up though, this is Chicago. SB
-
Yeah the errors suck. All I want is 2 tickets to any playoff game. I dont even think I have the disposable income, but I am willing to do whatever it takes. And I dont think I could have lived with myself if I did not try to get tickets. SB

Im pretty sure he has hurt his back more than once fielding a bunt. Pods and Iguchi depending on the situation may want to bunt. Just try and get him uncomfortable. SB

For all the people complaining, If any of our starters were injured the next 3 days, would the Red Sox or Yankees give us a break in the first round because we played our best to make sure they made the playoffs? No You play for your own team. The White Sox players need rest, they do not need to play 1 extra game against a pitcher that has owned them. There is no point. SB

OSU also lost the game they choked Sorgi. Id take Sorgi being choked any day for a win. Not to mention Sorgi put a disk in my computer that had a computer virus so he kind of deserved to be choked. Karma's a b****, and generally the teams that resort to that type of stuff do not win in the end. SB

Wisconsin v. OSU For those of us who remember, I think OSU is luckier they do not play Wisconsin this year. And: Calhoun is better than Davis, the O-line is better than last year. It would be a good game, I was much more afraid of Michigan than OSU. Thats just the truth. SB

Madison is also geographically closer to Chicago than Illinois. Illinois is in a real rough spot for football. Unless they can put together some bowl seasons with lower end talent, they are always going to be a middle of the road school. But if Zook can set up a system and get the team above .500 I think he can start to get some legitimate recruits. Otherwise Illinois is just carved up between the top Big 10 football programs. Michigan, OSU, also take from the area. SB

First, Wisconsin does not play MSU this year, so it does not matter if MSU could beat Wisconsin. Second, Wisconsin has now won its hardest game of the year. No other team has the same nightmares as Michigan brings to the Badgers. Third, At Minnesota Home-coming versus Purdue Home versus Iowa. Those are the 3 tough games left on the Wisconsin schedule. Wisconsin-Minnesota is a pretty big rivalry and Minnesota always plays Wisconsin tough. The fact that it is away is some what of a disadvantage, but usually they get good crowd support at the Metrodome. Purdue and Iowa could beat Wisconsin as well, but with home field advantage and the confidence of beating Michigan, I think these games are very winnable. Fourth, Wisconsin "folding" last year. Anthony Davis was injured, Erasmus James was injured versus Purdue, and the other back up RB's for Wisconsin were pretty banged up. There is no way to tell what a healthy James and Davis would have done for Wisconsin, but injuries are quite different from folding. If Calhoun stays injury free, Wisconsin can win the rest of its games. Do not believe what you read in the papers, college sports are terrible at giving pre-season rankings. Just look at Auburn last year. SB

It depends on your definition of a good QB is. My definition is a QB that wins games. A QB that does not put his team in a position to lose game, and a Qb that makes sure his team stays the course. The reason Michigan lost is simple, Wisconsin played their game. Michigan never forced Wisconsin to do things that they are uncomfortable doing. They never forced Wisconsin to try and throw deep, they never forced Wisconsin to throw over the middle. As it is right now, Wisconsin has a very good chance at winning the Big 10. They were underrated as always, but that is just because Wisconsin are not media darlings yet. Michigan was vastly over rated. I have to attribute some of this to Hart, but their passing game was just not what it should of been against an undertalented Wisconsin secondary. Henne should have blown them up, instead he did not even eclipse 300 yards. It was a good game, but it was clearly the game that Wisconsin not Michigan wanted to play. The loss should rest solely on Carr's shoulders, as anyone that has seen 1 Wisconsin game could have shut that team down. Luckily I dont play for the other side though. SB -
Pretty sad. This is his job, he gets paid significantly for the stress that comes along with the job. If he is not here because he likes to compete and win, then he is never going to be a great manager. Great coach's want to win, because winning is everything. They are not in it to make fans happy, they are not in it for the players, they are there to win for themselves. Ozzie needs to think about whether he has the competitive drive to handle this job. Some people just do not have the personality, Ozzie seems like a fun guy, some times being a winner is not being a fun guy. Last night I saw Konerko's interview and atleast he was not acting defeated. He was even making jokes because you can lose a battle, but you have to win the war. These games mean nothing if the White Sox win the division. They may actually help in the play offs because the White Sox will not be afraid of the pressure, they have felt the highs and the lows. Ozzie just needs to decide if this is what he wants to do. SB

Now im no big time tv ceo, But why would you not check to make sure that all of your feeds are working when you are about to air one of the most important games in your new channels career? Might as well have not plowed the streets in an election year. SB

Can anyone actually see the game on tv?

Indians have 4-5 more years? Milwood, he gone. Sabathia, he gone. The Indian's have some solid players, but they are in no way nearing a dynasty. The first problem is they are going to have to spend. Milwood is a free agent, after his 3.00 era he will be a prime candidate for Yankees or Red Sox money. Then in 2 years Sabathia becomes a free agent. Are they going to pay these 2 players $10mil + for 3-5 years? That will be an interesting question. SB

As one of the only people who never has waivered in their White Sox for president stance, I should be on this too. SB

The game plan should be pretty simple. Wisconsin: Offense: Control the tempo. Run the ball. Use the run to set up the deep ball. Get Brandon Williams the ball in open space. Use Owen Daniels as a miss match versus LB's. Calhoun should have 30+ touches, Stanley 10+ touches. Try to run atleast 40 times. Defense: Stop the pass. Get pressure on the QB. Make Michigan beat you through the run. Long yardage 3rd downs. Wisconsin is vastly underrated this year imo. Calhoun is for real, and is better than Davis and Bennet. The Wisconsin offensive line is a dominant unit, and they will play old school Woody Hayes, 3 yards and a cloud of dust. They have talented WR's and TE, but Stocco is still young and there is no reason to put the game in his hand. If Wisconsin does fall behind, I do have confidence that Stocco could move the ball effectively, it just is not as preferrable as slamming the ball down Michigan's throat. In the end, it will depend on a few things: 1) Can Michigan stop the stretch play? Wisconsin will run this play almost non-stop if it is effective. Its like a bastardized sweep where the line men pull and Calhoun runs behind them. 2) Can Wisconsin defend the pass? Wisconsin is pretty solid against the run, although they have not been tested by anything close to Michigan. The Wisconsin defense plays against the Wisconsin offense, so they are used to the run. But generally Wisconsin is not very good against the pass. 3) Special teams. Punting, Kicking, have always plagued Wisconsin. If they can play solid special teams, they could win. It is very hard for me to put my biases aside and call this game. In my heart I want Wisconsin to win, and I believe that they can. There are very few night games at Camp Randall, but when they occur they are absolutely insane. I think this year of any year Wisconsin really could beat Michigan, and Wisconsin should be considered a dark horse Big 10 team. They just get no respect. No respect in football, no respect in basketball, but eventually you have to win big games to earn that respect. Part of me thinks Alvarez chose to retire this year because he felt he could make a splash. SB -
Rally Crede works. There really is no other explanation. SB

By doing absolutely nothing you mean completely changed the dynamic of the team from being focused on winning games by outscoring, to winning games by pitching and defense? Not to mention that most of the players are resigned for next year, meaning if we get rid of Williams, then the next GM will either have to try and win with Kenny's team, or will have to scrap it and start over. Williams takes chances, some times they pan out, some times they dont. But when people sit here and slam him for not making a trade this year, it just is ignorance. It was not like Griffey was traded for a bag of balls and we made no offer. Its not like there were all these great players that moved teams. Most of the trades were for bench players and the White Sox would have to have over paid for something that might have been worthless. Williams did the job. He put his team in position to win, and he did not sell the farm to do it. That way if we do come up short, we still have the firepower to compete again next year, and the next few years. SB
