What did Williams do wrong? The team he put together had a 15 game lead. The team he put together has given the White Sox the best record in a few years. No one that was traded would have stopped what has happened. There was no one available for a reasonable price. Lets fire some one just to fire them though because there has to be a scape goat right? Kenny did his job. He gave the White Sox a chance to win. Now it is up to the coaches and players to execute SB

Yeah Name the last time Wisconsin ever beat Michigan. The closest we came was a few years back where Michigan punted in the final few minutes, and it hit one of our players and Michigan recovered and won. Do I think Wisconsin can beat Michigan? Yes Do I think Wisconsin will beat Michigan? Yes, if they display the stat "Wisconsin has never beaten Michigan" or something else to curse the Wolverines, much like Dallas was cursed last night. SB -
It was pretty close. He did not hit him the the top of the helmet, but closer to the face mask. I think the fact Pollard went down so hard led to the flags. SB

Ozzie should be gone if they miss the playoffs. But, It is entirely in the White Sox hands. All they have to do is beat Cleveland and it does not matter how much they tanked. These last few weeks will determine whether Ozzie is a manager that can get his team to the promised land, or just another manager who can catch lightning in a bottle, but when the going gets tough cant make the right decisions to bring wins. Damn thats a long sentence. SB

If this was last nights game we would be winninng 9-2. It reminds me of a bad baseball game. But then again, Joey Cora has never been my favorite. SB -

Passing on Leftwich should be a fireable offense. SB -
The Sox are better on the road anyways. But here is an interesting question; Lets say that the Indians and White Sox tie for the ALCS. Both of them are also tied for the WC with the Yankees. Would the team that lost the playoff game, get a playoff game against the Yankees? Or would by virtue of the extra game, one team be .5 behind the Yankees? SB

The Bears have found their future QB
Soxbadger replied to White Sox Josh's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Grossman is a more talented QB. The only problem is injuries. But they can happen to every player, so all things being considered I would bet on Grossman over Orton. :shrugs: SB -
Phil Rogers' Playoff Prediction Scheme
Soxbadger replied to The Ginger Kid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This aticle is not that insightful. Every time the White Sox have a statistic or fact to their advantage, Rogers some how undermines it. The White Sox beat the Angels a lot this season, but that does not mean anything in the playoffs. The A's have beat the Sox a lot the past few years, this means they can not beat them in the playoffs. And Im still wondering how the A's and Angels have a more balanced offense. Outside of Vlad on the Angels, is anyone but Figgins even an arguable starter for the Sox? As for the A's, Chavez would start, but the rest probably would not. ::shrugs:: SB -
I doubt they win. Statistics are public domain. They could try and prevent them from using the names of the teams and player names with out having a licensing agreement, but that would be a pretty flimsy argument. First of all they already allow Yahoo, ESPN, etc to use all logos associated with the NFL, MLB. So there must be a licensing agreement that already governs that. I mean its some what complicated with out all of the facts, but in the end its just like how they can make "Barry Bonds" with a different name, but his stats are the same. He does not own the stats, neither does MLB or NFL. My guess is they are just trying to get a settlement, only like 3% of cases ever go to trial. SB

Barring injury, it is really hard for a freshman running back to get significant playing time for Wisconsin. Right now Id guess the depth chart is: 1) Calhoun 2) Stanley 3) Jamil Walker, etc. I looked over the ESPN roster and it does not list him, so he might have been redshirted. SB -

This is textbook Wisconsin running. How Bowling Green does not recognize they keep running the exact same play just to different sides, I do not understand. Each time the same players pull, but they can not do anything. SB -

They always schedule the hardest "easy" teams. A few years ago the scheduled David Carr, now they schedule Jacobs. They did their defense no favors by scheduling this as the first game. In the end I think the Wisconsin's run game is better than Bowling Green's pass game. SB -
Hermanson has to be healthy. Otherwise he should not be near the field in a 9 run game. SB

I do not think it is blind optimism to think the Sox will do well. All of the facts suggest the White Sox should do well, it is only those who want to look at a small sample size who write about gloom and doom. 1) The White Sox have one of the best pitching rotations in baseball. Pitching not hitting is what wins championships. 2) Every team wins 40 games and loses 40 games. The White Sox won many earlier this year that they should not have won. Eventually the ebb and flow will mean the Sox would lose some games that they should not win. 3) The Indians and Twins have to play each other, and the White Sox. Unless either the Twins or Indians (mainly the Indians at this point) blow out the other 2, there is no way they can catch the Sox. 4) The return of Pods. When a team is built on speed and getting leads early, losing that piece is devastating to the offense. Eventually the Indians will cool, lose a series, get swept, etc, and next thing you know the Sox magic number will be around 10 with us still having a 5 game or so lead. Right now 2 things are working against the Sox; 1) The Sox are playing bad. 2) The Indians are playing better than every other team in baseball. If either of these change, the division is done. SB

Peter Warrick released by Bengals.
Soxbadger replied to Steve9347's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
A lot of players have attitude problems when they play for one of the worst franchises in the league. Dillon had problems, then went to NE and was a model citizen. Warrick is one of the most talented college WR's ever. There is no gaurantee he will ever transfer the talent to the NFL, but I would be willing to take a risk on him. Warrick could really do well with the Bears. If you watched Orton at Purdue most of his passes were quick routes that let the wr make moves. Once Warrick has the ball in his hands there is no questioning his ability. SB -
It does not matter if he gets ripped, the comment will most likely be successful. Texas and Chicago do not play for the rest of the season, so with 3 games left in the series it is the perfect time to make this statement. For the next few games, people are going to try and watch for a light in centerfield. If the Rangers were cheating, there is no way they will try the next few games. If they were not cheating, there is nothing except for denials they can really do. Win win situation, and at this point the White Sox should be thinking about winning series, not making friends. SB

Texsox, I have no problem with bandwagon jumpers in general. If they want to start supporting the Sox, thats cool with me. I have a problem with bandwagon jumpers who act like they have been here forever and only post negative comments. The latter is what Konerko is getting upset with. SB
-
Konerko is right. The people with the most negative things to say about the Sox, are generally the people that have been on the bandwagon the smallest amount of time. The Sox are in first place, yet it seems like 90% of the posts are dedicated to how bad they suck. And these are not long time posters who I have watched post here, these generally seem like people who have been here for less than a season. ::Shrugs:: If I was Konerko, and I was on a first place team, I would say f*** off to all the b**** bandwagon fans out there as well. Its one thing to jump on a winner and be positive, its quite another to jump on the bandwagon, then pretend you are a real fan and b**** all day long. Those are the fans that we do not need, and I stand behind Konerko 100%. If you want to be a bandwagon fan, that is cool. Have fun, enjoy the ride. If you are a pretend fan, and just want to bash the Sox and be the guy that: A) If they win was always a huge supporter or B) If they lose always told us so. Go watch the Cubs. Seriously, its fun to have the park filled. Its nice that we are getting the media attention, but I miss the days when the White Sox were "insert amount of games out" and all the posts were about how we can pull this out, how we can improve, or how only a few things need to go our way and we are right in the picture. Ribbie is right. Everyone of you that b****es about what Konerko says is just proving his point. Who cares how badly the Sox have played for a month? This is the team that we have, and it is most likely the team we are going to go to the dance with. So either you can support them, or you can just go find another team to watch. Thanks Konerko for actually keeping the real White Sox fans in mind. Cause for every complainer, there are about 5 real fans who are just sick and tired of this constant whining bulls***. SB

The Neyer comments were about Clemens back. There is concern about his back, and thus why he might not be a good bet down the stretch. Not sure why everyone read something else into it. SB

So far Canseco has not been wrong. But past performance does not predict future performance. In his book, Canseco said that Tejada and Giambi were doing them during Canseco's second stint with the A's. He even talked about Tejada's power numbers making a large jump once he got into the big leagues. Another thing to note, Canseco claims that there latin American's are more likely to use steriods than any one else. This would sound racist, but Canseco put himself in that category, and talked about how Tejada's family was so poor and who would not use steriods if it meant making enough money so their family never had to work again. I really like Tejada as a player, but something has to be said about the decline of his numbers in the last month. SB
